Note: since kids in Awakening inherit 1/3 of their parents' stat gains, a kid doing well is more about making sure the parents get sufficient attention. So if you do any ships just to see the supports, then bench the parents, don't bother with the kid.

[up][up]Not super sure about that, but I do agree it's the pairing where the child's personality & hair color just happens to match perfectly.

[up]Also this. If you care about training all of your units, the kids you'll get will be outright busted 9 times out of 10 (be aware this only applies to Awakening though, as Fates' child mechanics patched out that exploit of sorts).

Hm...well, looking it up, I do have a few ideas, and I'd like to mix things up a bit (Henry looks...decently young enough that I guess pairing him with Nowi won't be too weird?).

I think a lot will depend on who I choose to pair Robin with - right now, I think it's between Cordelia and Tharja, not sure who I'm leaning towards. On one hand, it feels a bit weird to pair both Chrom and Robin with a Pegasus Knight...on the other, Severa feels like a fun big sister for Morgan...

Hey, is Gregor good with anyone? I always forget about him, and I'd like to change that.

I don't think I've ever used him with anyone other than Nowi.

Berkut invited me to this cool BBQ where clearly nothing will go wrong.

Henry X Lissa is my favorite pairing in Awakening.

Plus the idea of Chrom having Henry as a brother in-law is hilarious.

Last night (technically early this morning) I finally finished Mystery of the Emblem book 1. I gave Mercurius to Nabarl, and he spent the last few maps obliterating everything in sight. Ogma killed Michalis. I missed the secret shop at the Aerie and didn't realise that the one in Gharnef's castle had been removed, so Lena, Maria, Catria, and Est never got to promote. Tiki proved to be my overall MVP through sheer unstoppability, and looking back on it I think this game is the one that inspired her mechanics in Warriors, which is an interesting choice.

The RNG hit a run of low numbers during the Battle of Doluna Palace, which meant I got significantly more criticals than statistics would suggest, but also meant that Medeus hit Marth a lot. I ended up having to use the last charge on my warp staff to send Nabarl to a locked room to kill the Bishop to stop Medeus from constantly healing; naturally, once I did, Marth got a crit and finished him off soon enough.

Apparently I didn't finish a single chapter in less than 90 turns. I don't go for low turn counts, but I'm still surprised they took that long, even taking Arenas into account.

Continuing the Radiant Dawn Triple Cat-astrophe. Muarim might have to stand in with the Dawn Brigade since Daein is too racist to have Cats.

I never finished Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE due to being distracted by other games, so I booted it up again for the first time in ages.

...And I'm realizing once again that there doesn't seem to be a quest log for Requests.

[up] That is an issue, yeah. I think the closest thing the game has is that NP Cs involved in a Quest you're doing are shown with a different icon on the mini-map.

At least you can check which Requests you've finished, since you get achievements for completing them. Still, a quest log would have been a lot more convenient.

Pretty wild to think the setting of Tokyo Mirage is technically the distant future of Marth's games.

Huh, I realized I never actually accepted the "Arena Staff on Hire" request. Well, I managed to do enough catching up on it, I think. There are still some Mirages I have to recruit, but I suspect those are only accessible after I complete more of the main story.

Meanwhile I'm trying to grind some levels, since Yashiro's second side story opened up for me.

So, I was thinking about how future games could improve on the idea of a home base like Garreg Mach, and it got me thinking - what if they took stuff like fishing and growing plants, and added a resource management aspect to it? Stuff like procuring supplies, sheltering refugees, things like that.

For example, let’s assume that the costs of feeding and housing your army are already paid for (we could not, but I’m being at least a little charitable with the hypothetical player here), but since you’re dealing with a war, there’s also the matter of refugees seeking your help. For example, you could give them shelter in your castle, which could give you some nice benefits, but would also require you to expend resources. If that was not feasible for whatever reason, you could also give them supplies to allow them to continue their journey (which could give smaller benefits or just be a neutral option) or simply turn them away (which could cause some sort of morale penalty, in addition to making you feel like a piece of shit).

As for how you could procure supplies, there could be options to spend gold to expand your capacity, as well as optional battles to raid enemy supply caravans as well as protect your own (neglecting these might result in a penalty to your forces or a bonus to the enemy in a future battle).

What do you guys think?

I like the monastery but micromanaging it every month becomes tedious on subsequent playthroughs when you've already talked to everyone and seen everything.

I'd rather they work on improving the skip automation so you don't miss out on so much by skipping days.

The micro-managing in Three Houses is one of the main reasons I'm completely turned off by the game.

I mean, I get it, I just think it's interesting to have other stuff to add variety. Turn-based strategy is nice and all, but I do like the idea of managing the army beyond just killing people with it.

At first I wasn't that much of a fan of the monastery, since the start felt so slow compared to Awakening when it took me almost 2 hours to have a proper battle.

I liked it later on for the most part. But I did end up stopping for a year mid playthrough.

Which was pretty much because of the monastery parts killing my momentum and making me concerned about missing supports.

In the end I just decided to power on though and ignore supports aside from the core Black Eagles and any connection I couldn't get on other routes.

Its probably the big reason I started Silver Snow for my second route, then stopped at chapter 5.

Having a central hub where you can find all your party members is a good idea overall, I think. I enjoyed it in Fates, for example, even if the place itself was kind of dumb.
