Don't have much to say about the chapter itself, but is this manga the first time non-named villagers have been drawn with defining facial features?

Another Moriya Shrine conspiracy is afoot! Been awhile since it's been them. Usually recently it's been sneaky Taoists, preaching Buddhists, fairy pranks, tanuki shenanigans and I forget the rest of the extended (forbidden) template.

It's been a while since the previous chapter so maybe you forgot, but this all started because Kanako thought Miyoi's sake sucked and was disturbed that the human villagers seemed to not notice. So presumably she imported this from the Outside World.

Could we be seeing a sake-off?

I like that, in a setting where vicious monsters end up taking the form of cute anime girls, there's no attempt to make the "sake bug" anything but horrifying and/or disgusting.

I'm still not used to Cheating Detective's art style, but I do like the spins it's put to some character designs (i.e. Chen), approve of it revisiting characters we haven't seen in a while, and appreciate its surprisingly badass moments like Yukari casually distorting space-time to grab rice cakes without having to lean over a table, or Flandre turning years of fanon on its head.

I'd probably have called it the sake worm if it didn't already have an entry on the wiki.

You can tell the artist's getting more used to at drawing manga, though. The pages have backgrounds and the characters are more expressive.

In a serious situation that even caused Yukari to sweat and feel worried, running low on just a sliver of energy that's only there in the first place because she hid it away in case of an emergency, Yukari still takes time to steal one last bite of Reimu's food

Also nice to see that whole "old school" vibe that Cheating Detective's been giving off by focusing on older Touhou characters was actually a plot point.

I hope the evil spirit is an actual character, be it a new one or a "lost" one (in which case "evil spirit that wants revenge" has a rather obvious candidate)

Though, honestly, I'm personally more partial to the Reimu&Marisa4Smash option myself, with some AoCF/Zelda&Shiek-like in-mid-combat switching between the two mirroring the switching between the spread/homing and focus shot types respectively.

New Cheating Detective Satori is out, and it appears the manga might be going on hiatus, but don't quote me on that one.

It's going on hiatus and/or cancelled because of the artist's health. Seems like a last minute decision because even in the publisher's announcement they said they weren't sure what would happen going forward.

This is the same situation that happened with the original Three Fairies artist, so it's also possible that the series will be rebooted with a different artist like what happened with that one.

Damn, what's with Zun's rotten luck with his artists? First Nemu Matsukura got health problems at the start of Eastern and Little Nature Deity, then Moe Harukawa suddenly wanted to move on from Forbidden Scrollery, and now Ginmokusei is getting health problems, too? I do hope it won't cause a cancellation of the series, I've been enjoying FDS so far.
