IDK, I think some of the pandemic specials were trying to be cautiously optimistic, especially the end of the "Return to COVID" movie, barring Cartman's fate.

Yeah the pandemic specials were being optimistic in their own way, of trying to find happiness and enjoy one’s life even if the world gets worse. Which both futures are meant to convey with the Blade Runner ad parodies.

It’s mostly Season 25 where they come off as cynical. The specials were them trying to be optimistic.

I am more worried about someone like Ron De Santis or Greg Abbott, considering the types of legislation they are pushing.

One of the reasons is that Trump fed that negative behavior, so when he backtracked after spending a longtime feeding it would of course get that reaction. If he hadn’t been an idiot and just said it from the start, a lot more would have obeyed him on it.

And that Trump is more corpo than facist, meaning that rich people with money will atract him more than any racist talk.

I mean the atraction of Alt right for trump is the biggest case of parasocial parasitism I have ever seen, the alt right was attract to whatever they saw in trump and him more that anything was attract to their sheeply devotion and willing to carry on whatever fantasy he have in mind.

The root was always people wanting a idol who can embolden whatever they want vs his addiction to narcistic feedback.

Trump was tailed by a lot of fascists. Problem is, he wasn't willing to be their Fuhrer. Inevitably, when Trump passes on, there will be far worse things to crawl out of the American fascist movement.

Basically this. Trump was willing to humor fascists when it suited him, but he was never going to institute fascism in the United States.

No it's not, there are plenty of left wing populists. There most certainly is a difference.

The populism of any leader on the alleged "left-wing" is generally going to be different than of any fascist.

Mind, plenty of fascists cover their rhetoric in "left" buzzwords. Chavez, Gaddafi, Saddam, the list goes on. Even early-Showa Japan made itself out to be "anti-imperialist."

Well, this is South Park, which likes to delve into politics regularly. Though as we've mentioned earlier, they seem to have cooled on the topic for a while now after Trump's election.

The most talk of politics (US or international) they have really done since then were “Band in China”, “Back to the Cold War”, and Vaccination Special making fun of Q’Anon.

And pretty much every time Bob White is on screen.

And anti-vaxxers in both Post COVID specials.

"Band in China" is the first time in a while they've had a real "risky episode." They probably did it just so they could say they were, well, Banned in China.
