I don't think I've saved this many pictures of a character in one sitting since Mystia.

I find it odd that you think her history is the history of Gensokyo, Fawriel. While you generally try to be objective with your initial write-ups, only inserting your own interpretations after the line break, with this one you started with that interpretation as your premise. I disagree with it though: her history is explicitly not that of Gensokyo's and that's what makes her book interesting.

Despite her technical immortality and perfect memory, she's never actually seen the world. Her body is that of a child, implied to be a frail child who won't live long, and she certainly can't go out and interview youkai like Aya does. She lives in a world created by second-hand information and rumors, and that is the world she writes about. Youkai aren't nearly as dangerous as they were before, but nor are they exactly friendly with the human village (indeed, the friendliness of the Hakurei Miko with the youkai is one of the reasons she gets no shrine donations). To Akyuu, who has hardly met any youkai, that unknown potential danger is what she hears about, and thus is what is what she writes about.

As for her personality, she's about as cheerful as you'd expect someone who doesn't need to worry about death and has a strong sense of purpose in her life to be. Curiosity is is driving virtue, but it's also her vice in that she seems pretty gullible. Even if she has her own doubts about the truth of something, she'll write it down just to have something to write down. I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that the Gensokyo Chronicles is almost certainly full of nonsense.

Absolutely. Look at the eyewitness report section for Wriggle Nightbug. Absolutely none of it is relevant.

Forgot this one: Sayakata Tea Mansion's Eastern News Kingdom. Akyuu competes with Aya to see who gets to be the sole bearer of truth.

To be fair, she does point out when she's doubtful of something's veracity/relevance.

Which is exactly why we, as the relatively omniscient audience, can see where she's not doubtful of things we know are false.

So, according to Akyuu's notes, and some stuff about Keine's powers, "history" is what people write down. So Keine could screw with Akyuu's notes by using her powers?

So does that mean that if Akyuu detailed the history of the Human Village's founding and such, Keine would no longer be able to hide it?

???????? The description of how Keine's powers work didn't really make sense.

I think the fact that it was detailed in the Gensokyo Chronicles is why Keine was only able to hide it imperfectly in IN. Remember, Yukari could still see it and everyone could still remember it. I'm not sure if its a limitation of Keine's power or the result of another historical record existing.

Or it could be that fact that a series where loli's blow each other up with pretty colors developed by a Japanese Alchoholic probably isn't going to make much sense.

This is just baseless speculation, but I'm starting to think Keine can only conceal history from one person at a time. Which sounds rather like erasing someone's memory of that history, rather than the history itself.

But she hid the human village from Reimu and Yukari, yet they both remembered it. It seems like she simply makes it look like it doesn't exist, people can still remember it.

When did this turn into a Keine discussion anyway?

Keine does talk about making the incident never happen, so there is evidence for actual reality warping.

It'd be interesting if ZUN would release an expansion pack updated release version of Perfect Memento. I'm curious what Akyuu would say about some of the new characters.

^YES. That is the single thing I want most. Well, that or Akyuu being playable in the next game. Or a Bunkachou like game that gives you profiles instead of spellcard comments...
