i put in money. and i'm cautiously optimistic.

I love the idea that keeping old titles at least digitally available can potentially reignite franchises so long after the fact through reputation and word of mouth etc, lord knows why console publishers are so averse to the concept.

I like that announcement trailer. The original game's style of absurdity is well-intact.

I would have been all over this a few years ago, but now I'm too sceptical over the crowdfunding part of it to get excited. Tim Schafer and Double Fine have proven several times over that when it comes to finances, they are woefully unlucky at best, and incompetent at worst, so I'm not trusting them with a single penny until Psychonauts 2 is finished and in shops. I have until then to try and muster up some excitement, and I'll try, because I liked the first one.

I'm sorry for being Eeyore right now, so I'll stop spoiling the mood and let everyone get back to the celebrations. After all, we didn't think this would ever happen.

i don't fault you for your skepticism in the slightest. i think by now most people have wised up to the dangers that crowdfunding brings, and it's right to be skeptical of it in turn.

The crowdfund says they've already got 10M from elsewhere, but "need" 3M from the crowdfund.

On one hand, that kind of money from big investors will mean someone will be breathing down their backs, keeping them from pulling a Broken Age. But they don't seem to say what the money goes to, and why they need 3M from us for.

Taking some time to calm down, I really hope that this doesn't end up like Broken Age or the other kickstarter disaster. I've been waiting for Psychonauts 2 for a long time and I don't want this to be a scam or something.

Possibly the company is only offering 10 mil if the campaign earns 3 mil.

that's how it was with indivisible, and lab zero were very transparent about that. if this is the case here i suppose that's not terribly unreasonable, although they aren't being as clear about that as lab zero was.

Samurai Jack is getting a continuation. Dragon's Lair is getting a movie. The Last Guardian will actually happen. Sly 4 happened. Psychonauts 2 is happening.

Are we entering a brand new age of un-cancellation?

Almost at 1.5 million..so THIS is what Indivisible needed to be. It needed to be Psychonauts 2.

Seriously though this thing looks set to be halfway funded in 2 days. The pace seems to be slowing down though so let's see if they are able to fund this in a week.

Just keep pumping more in. Hey, Markuss Persson, you were willing to plop down a few million to be involved with it 2 years ago. Plop it down NOW :p

I'm surprised that anyone is giving that hack Schafer a single cent after what happened with Spacebase DF-9. People are willing to make a ton of excuses for Double Fine that they wouldn't for any other company.

If I'm reading this right there's going to be a Playstation VR prequel for P2 called "In The Rhombus of Ruin"?

Also in their recent spirit of un-cancelling things, they've just announced a remaster of Full Throttle, of all things. One for Day Of The Tentacle is happening too, which had passed me by completely.
