Flobots. I thought Handlebars was ok, then I tried the album it was off of and didnd't like it. WHY? reminded me of Flobots when I played them today, except WHY? is much better.

I like hip hop of the instrument variety but for some reason can't stand rapping. Unless it's nerdcore. :P

Oh, on Platypus: While I don't have the whole EP, I don't think, I've heard some of the songs from it. Don't think I like "Jetpack" much.

I really like breakdowns in my post-hardcore. Take

Screaming is the one thing i dislike about metal/hardcore/hard rock/genres that have it.

Which is why my metal interest is limited to instrumental bands.

Have you heard of Scale the Summit, Daze? They're from Houston  ^*

, and they're an instrumental band. I really really like them. Don't think they're very big yet. I've seen them before, with Protest the Hero and The Number Twelve Looks Like You, and I hope to see them again when they come with Between the Buried and Me in January.

Not all metal bands "scream" (or growl). Dream Theater is a good metal band. So is Sonata Arctica. Both have very clean vocals. :D

I'm interested in starting to listen to Dream Theater. Could somebody give me a list of songs that would work as a good primer?

Dream Theater is progressive metal, not just prog.

"Dunes" is pretty good. Can't remember the name of the song I like most from them, since I just listen to the whole album at a time...

There's this band called I See Stars that I find myself really liking, even though I don't think they're that great.

Listening to "Pull Me Under" right now, and i can't understand why people complain about DT's Singer (alot of them do) he has a good voice.

Not growly enough for metalheads and not weird enough for prog fans maybe? I just don't get the complaint.

edit: Really? Now, i liked what i heard of Untrue, oh well, we were bound to disagree on something eventually.
