All the other Media fora are doing it, so why not?
Currently waiting for Kingdom Come to get its ass onto the holdshelf so I can check it out. Will it be worth the wait?
Well, where it was, anyway.

I have no idea either but man that Father dude was an ass. The guy definitely needed a hard fist to the face.
but these guys work for a DC Similar Squad for the fantastic four* Sorry it's just something that I randomly started thinking of while walking my dog avoiding a guy that I think wants me for his boyfriend and carrying a large branch.
could've sworn I had somebody for invisible woman. Anyway I know that's probably not the best group of counterparts for all other aspects I was just going for their powers.

I have been on something of a horror comic binge recently, and I recently came across Essential Marvel Horror, volume 1, which, despite that name implying a collection of anthology comics or something, is actually dedicated to Satana and Son of Satan.
I'm about a fourth of the way through the volume, and enjoying it immensely. Most of the comics I've read are pretty recent (80's to present), so I have very little experience with stuff from the Bronze Age, but I'm really liking it. Over-dramatic narrations and abundance of exclamation points have their charm.
So, I've pick up Marvel comics again after stopping for a couple of months, alienated from all recent comic books news. I started finishing Avengers Academy because, hey, it is one of the best books out there. Then I got to know there is a continuation of sorts for the series, which is great, considering how cool the book was.
Then, I read Avengers Arena page. It... doesn't look good. At all. I guess my imediate reaction was Ruined Forever, which means I am terribly pessimist about this series. However, like I said, I've been alienated from the comic book fandom recently, so I know absolutely nothing about this book other than its Audience-Alienating Premise.
So, can someone explain it to me? Hopefully with reasons for why it is not as bad as it sounds?
Well, to start with, Dennis Hopeless is actually a pretty good writer. I've been giving serious consideration to his Cable & X-Force series, even though the premise of Arena keeps me from buying that one.
Arena's going to take a bunch of young characters (mostly teens, a couple over 20), put them on an island filled with death traps, and go from there. It seems like Hopeless wants it to be a character-focused series, rather than being all about the death. However, death is going to be a part of it. He's created a bunch of new kids - the "Braddock Academy" - who could potentially be used as cannon fodder so the existing kids can stay alive longer.
Jonathan Hickman and Jason Aaron have both said they read and loved the first issue, and Christos Gage has also said it's really well-written, though he seems a little uncomfortable with the premise, too. Still, he's encouraged his readers to check it out.
About the best I can suggest is to read Hopeless's interviews. See what his vision of the book is.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.Wait, the writer is seriously called Dennis Hopeless? That is not very encouraging. Also, he apparently haven't written much for Marvel, so I can't really tell which is his style.
Then again, Christos Gage says it is well written, I guess he probably isn't messing too much with the Avenger's Academy characters, right? I hope the same can be said about Nico and Chase*.
Where can I find these interviews? Are they reassuring?
Thanks for the answers.

I haven't read most of the interviews. I think you can find them around various comic books sites. Marvel.com, CBR, other places.
And yeah, the fact that his name is actually "Hopeless" is kinda ominous. About the only thing he's written for Marvel so far was a Legion of Monsters mini. It was pretty OK. Not great, not bad, but a lot of fun. He also did a Forge short (setting him up for Cable & X-Force) in the Marvel Point One last month, and it was really good.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.Wait, if Forge is going to be part of Cable & X-Force, does that make it X-Forge?
I'm just glad Avengers Arena wasn't able to get all the Runaways like Hopeless wanted; if the story's going to be featuring death as much as it seems, it would be harder to resist the temptation to kill off half of them if the entire team was there. Nico and Chase have a better chance of surviving if killing them removes the Runaways from the story entirely.

No. No it does not.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.A friend of mine owns a comic shop where Dennis Hopeless used to work (he's really a nice guy, with a great enthusiasm for comics) and yup, that IS his real name.
As in he legally changed it to Hopeless or that is the family name of his parents?
As in that's his actual family name, his parent's name, etc. The name he was born with.
If I want to discuss a fan webcomic about a comic book series' characters, do I do it here or in the Webcomics subforum?

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Uh, I think it would be on the webcomic forum. The thread for Dragonball Multiverse is there, anyway.
I need an image of Lady Deadpool's nasty face don't ask what for.
If they ever do a Marvel versus DC fighting game I would like Joker and red skull and it just so I could hear "I may be a criminal lunatic but I'm an American criminal lunatic."

I'm sorry, where is Gotham City on the map?

Not on any map of New England I've seen.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.From what I understand, DC's official stance is that Gotham City is in New Jersey (approximately Jersey City, though it doesn't replace that city), and Metropolis is supposed to be in Pennsylvania (same story with it and Philadelphia). This is even though both Gotham and Metropolis were meant to be fictional stand-ins for New York City (very early Batman stories even have him operating explicitly in NYC, and of course there's the fact that the earliest Superman story to assign Superman to any city has him in Cleveland, OH). Pre-dating Batman, "Gotham" is one of the lesser-known sobriquets for New York.
Anyway who to have in a hypothetical DC versus Marvel videogame.
for me the list keeps going on and on just trying to decide on the final showdowns I'd want to see for respective characters. Also Gorilla Grodd who can't think of the opponent for.
