^ Well, it would eventually. Eventually another Key will be needed and she'll either end the world or get killed off and the world will end on its own.

Akane route finished, and wow, Kotarou really screwed up in this one. How did he lose his powers fighting the Earth Dragon? Another inconsistency from a different writer? I was honestly expecting Midou to show up again once the plot started mentioning burned bodies around the evacuation areas.

EDIT: The Key sure is violent in the Moon path.

The Key is kind of a dick, yeah. You should see Terra.

Akane's route, Kotori's route, Moon and Terra were all written by Romeo Tanaka. Chihaya and Shizuru were... Key guy. I don't remember his name because he's completely not suited for this kind of project. Ryukishi's trademarks are all over Lucia's route.

The Akane's route power loss thing isn't really explained, but he more or less lost his powers after moving into a giant dream bubble outside the Earth. Presumably that's why he couldn't use aura steroids anymore.

Moon path done now onto Terra. Well that path certainly took any happiness out of the previous endings.

EDIT: Who was the voice talking to Kotarou on the roof in the Akane path?

Voice on the roof? Masculine or feminine? Akane's might be one of the best routes but I find it realllly depressing and have trouble rereading it, so I don't really remember what you're talking about.

It was a feminine voice that showed up during the middle of Akane's path.

Here it is.

Oh. The Key, I think. Though 'Kagari' is a little complicated and the way she's talking sounds a little strange for her.

It'll probably make a little more sense when you're further along in Terra.

I'm surprised that Sakuya could show up for a chat at all after erasing himself in Moon.

EDIT: And that's Rewrite finished. So Kotarou finishes the plot by visiting Moon Kagari but lost his memories after becoming a familiar like Sakuya. And Lucia apparently doesn't need to wear gloves anymore. I'll comment more when I've had time to think about the ending.

Yeah, I noticed the Lucia thing too. Going by the timeline, that's probably a plot hole.

Some more Terra ending thoughts.

  • This game seriously needed more sprites for Inoue, Kashima, Suzaki, and Luis at least. Also, some more C Gs.
  • How is Chihaya still alive without Sakuya? And why is she wearing the transfer uniform if she's been in the same town all of her life? (probably more sprite related laziness).
  • The whole forgotten memories thing is probably going to be dealt with rather quickly when they get back from the moon, otherwise that's going to be one awkward conversation between Nishikujou and Koutarou.
  • Who's the girl with Midou and friends in the ending?
  • Why is Shimako working with the Bayern knights in the ending?
  • I was disappointed with Kagari's death scene, it was mostly just dull because of her lack of an interesting personality meant I didn't care about her dying.
  • Why did they cut away from the fight with the Earth Dragon?

Now onto the Oppai Ending.

  1. I think they ran out of money, which is why those guys had no sprites.
  2. Shrug, you might as well ask why Lucia isn't murdering everyone she gets close to despite being a poison factory.
  3. It's possible that his appearance has changed. Akane and Kotori should recognize him and Shizuru might be able to, but none of them do.
  4. Probably whatserface. Jasmine.
  5. I don't remember that. Dunno.
  6. Yeah, it sucked. Of course, Kotarou only 'loved' her because he was half mind controlled into it. Kagari is just not that interesting.
  7. Because it presumably went the same as it did in the Akane route. The better question is why they didn't replace it with anything else.

1: Fair enough.

2: I assume that she's on suppressants and that the others know to avoid touching Lucia. That or she somehow got to keep the poison toggle from Moon in this cycle. But I get the point, I'll write it off as a minor plot hole.

3: It would have been years for them, what are the odds of them immediately recognising him? And his appearance seemed the same in the ED (then again it was also the same in C Gs for Terra despite the story saying that he looked completely inhuman by the end).

4: Ah, I suppose that means the other two orphans from back then were Midou and either Tenjin or Tenma.

Lucia isn't even wearing her gloves. I think Romeo Tanaka was just going 'Shut up, this is a happy ending, got it?'

Kotarou is the guy Kotori was living for, might have been crushing on and gunned down her zombie parents. Kotarou was one of the few people Akane liked and he saved her life. Plus, I think she remembers him in her own route, though she doesn't say anything about it.

Dunno. You're not the first to wonder who all those orphans are.

1: Probably.

2: Fair point.

Also, I just got the Oppai ending, what the hell was that?

Pretty much, it was also pretty weird to see Midou as the new transfer student as well.

And Harvest Festa, is it post-Terra?

Not exactly. I don't know much about it, but I'm pretty sure it's not. Amaterasu will be translating it next now that they've completed Comyu, though.

Clannad and Planeterian are getting released on Steam in English.

The first bit of Angel Beats is nearly done too apparently.

I've started reading Harvest Festa in the name of finishing it before the translators release their patch.

For some reason, Lucia isn't wearing gloves in the Chihaya path of the game. Akane and Kotori are also stuck living with Chihaya and Sakuya. Will comment more as I work my way through the VN.

EDIT: Inoue has a sprite now.

[up][up] YES. [tup] I am really excited that Key has started to release their stuff internationally. While I enjoyed the Baka Tsuki translation of Clannad, I am really excited to see a professional, fully edited translation.

I hardly doubt I'll replay Clannad any time soon, but it'll be nice to have a version out there that doesn't turn every odd sentence into a sequence of "Flag not set" strings and the song disappearing in Fuuka's chapter.

Baka-tsuki's translation is buggy as hell.

I thought Clannad in Steam was a done deal, but apparently those were just plans, and now Sekai Project just launched a Kickstarter for Clannad with a $140,000 goal.

It got fully funded in less than 14 hours.

So now they are discussing Stretch Goals with Visual Arts, and are taking suggestions.

One of the things they are checking if it is possible or not is getting the HD assets from the PS 3 version over.

Hope they can add an English dub as one of the stretch goals, even if it'll take a million dollars to bring it to fruition. Some people on the Kickstarter page are even requesting it, considering they have been weaned on the anime and want to try out the real thing, so to speak.

[up] I want them to do that too.

Honestly, I was NOT expecting for the kickstarter to turn out this well. I guess getting out that Clannad VN was getting an English release was a bigger deal to people than I thought it would be.

I'm really hoping this means Sekai Project will license other Key V Ns as well. Still, even this would be enough for me.

over 210.000 and they still have two months left, and that without any stretch goals officially announced yet.

I really hope they use the extra money to bring the console ports.Sure, bringing the PS 2 release would not be viable at all and the PSP one very unlikely(The Playstation Store has been taken down for the PSP,though you can still make purchases for the PSP through the PC),but bringing the 360,PS 3 and the more recent Vita releases would be viable.

I recall how Mighty NÂș 9 got a huge boost on Kickstarter when they announced more console ports as a strech goals.Even Sekai Project themselves did the same with World End Economica, where they managed to fund not only to bring, but to actually MAKE ports to Vita and mobile devices.Clannad ports are already done and released,so it would be just a matter to localize and release them on Live and PSN,so they wouldn't have the extra effort to work on them like they will do to WEE.
