I'd looked at a previous chapter about Darby the Older's card game against DIO (where the latter instilled the same fear in Darby that probably lead to his terror of failing DIO in the first place).

Yeah as well done as it is, it definitely smacks of licensed fanfiction more than a fitting sidestory.

That's Kadono's work in general. Both PHF and CDDH write characters weirdly and just reek of fanservice over substance.

It's a lot more apparent with Demonic Heartbreak due to the more condensed length and pacing.

If we had to strike something from Jojo canon because of a few inconsistencies, that would eliminate most of the manga.

Not comparable. Spinoffs that aren't by Araki already have a difficult time being in canon but if you're contradicting entire events especially big ones like DIO's influence then you aren't canon at all.

DIO survived in a coffin after decapitating Jonathsn that Erina was inside of at the same time and somehow ended up at the bottom of the sea while Erina was safely brought to shore.

Erina was rescued by a passing ship, and Dio was in a secret compartment at the bottom of the box. Now, the bigger question is how Dio got himself and Jonathan's body into the box without Erina noticing.

Especially since Jonathan told Erina to get in the coffin right before he died. You'd think she would've gotten in before Jonathan and Dio did.

I'd like to think Dio just went and got another coffin from the ocean.

How do we feel about Jojolands so far, 4 chapters in?

Hate to say it, but I'm already enjoying it a lot more than I did most of Jojolion.

Pretty strong start so far. It's a dirtier look at criminals more than the Mafia in Part 5 (although not yet as brutal) and i'm excited to what it brings to the table.

DIO was never confirmed dead at that point. Especially when he survived worse until that point and Parts 1-3 were already semi-planned out. It doesn't outright contradict the story like a lot of CDDH did.

But yeah, Jojolands has a cast that's appealing to me more than Jojolion. As long as it keeps this relatively simple pace this part will end up staying one of my favorites. I love simplistic stands getting used in combat situations and The Hustle isn't letting me down so far in that department.

I really liked Jojolion, but I feel like it was a little too aimless overall. At least part of that is just inherent to the mystery aspect of the story, but I feel like the part suffered for it at least a little bit.

The characters in Jojolands are interesting so far. I can't judge it beyond that given how little has happened so far.

Super Fly is actually very cracked if you think about it.

Is GER's trigger malicious intent? I thought it was any attack directed at Giorno, regardless of the will behind it. Not that it changes the Superfly scenario in any way.

I don't think we can say for sure cause the only attack we see is Diavolo's and we know how much malice that attack went.

I'd argue that we've seen a Stand that's very close to Gold Experience Requiem be defeated. It's not an exact match, but Wonder of U arguably checks a lot of boxes. Hell, Wonder of U might even be worse because it activates in case of 'any' pursuit, not just pursuit with lethal intent. Granted said Stand was only defeated via an ability that literally transcends the logic of the world, as well as someone that lacked any intent to pursue until the last moment.

After a unusually long silence, Alternate Diego has been revealed as the last DLC character for All Star Battle R's season pass.

I just hope June 12th sees the announcement of a Wave 2, because this is a real Anti-Climax.
