Anybody else ever read Destiny Unfulfilled?

It pretty accurately sums up my problems with the series.

and what are your problems with the series?

Favourite Characters: Luna, Neville, Krum, Fred and George

Favourite Book: Order of the Phoenix

Favourite Class: History of Magic (seriously, I would smoke Hermione at that course)

Most Likely Place to Be Sorted: Slytherin (oh, now, that would be a fun high school experience -_-) or Ravenclaw (TV Tropes House, essentially)

I was a non-practicing Luna/Harry shipper.

how can you be a non-practicing shipper?

I like far too many characters, but Neville and Luna particularly stand out. Also, I've been a Harry/Ginny shipper since Chamber Of Secrets.

My favorite class would either be Charms or DADA. I've always wanted to be a combatant or a manipulator of magic.

One of my biggest griefs with the last two books was that there wasn't nearly enough Luna. She single handedly revived my waning interest in the series in Order, so I was pissed to no end when Prince and Hallows cut her page time dramatically.

I had a slightly bashful but entirely unironic love of this series up until fairly recently — back when I was a teenager, I used to steal my sister's copies fairly often. Deathly Hallows disappointed me, but I still occasionally read fanfic that looks particularly good.

Luna's one of the better things about the series, but I do kind of wish we got to see more of Ginny; I like her personality but too much of her character comes off as Informed Ability. On the other hand, just about every time Ron opens his mouth I want to smack him in it. Favorite book: either Prisoner or Half-Blood Prince.

My shameful self-insert character, if I were to write such a thing, would probably be responsible for getting a Ravenclaw dueling club started. Favorite class: DADA, naturally.

One of my Guilty Pleasures is reading Ginny/Harry Peggy Sue fanfic.

There's a surprising amount of it out there.

I'll have to flat-out say that deadwoodpecker's Peggy Sue fanfics are one of the best ones out there.

Also, Harry Potter and the Nightmares of Future's Past.

Backwards With Purpose didn't work too well for me, but I liked Nightmares Of Future Past quite a lot. It's a shame that it's unfinished.

Yeah, I wish he'd get back to writing it. So many complications...

I will feel no shame in the fact that I loved the series when I was younger. Looking back, I know it had its problems, but it was still fun. It got me a little more interested in World Building, even if my original stories I wrote back then sucked horribly.

My favorite characters had to be Sirius and Luna.

I also totally did not have an epic Mary Sue / insert fic about my originally character saving Harry's butt in an originally concocted final battle.

I too shipped Harry/Luna. My god was that Relationship Writing Fumble an epic one.

She was the only one who said anything that really made him feel better after Sirius died. I thought that was significant!

Man, I was so pissed when the went to Luna's house in Hollows and it turns out she wasn't there, and then when they finally went to the malfoy mansion (which was where she was supposed to be) she wasn't there again. It's like JKR was fucking with us.

Look on My Works, Ye Mighty, and Despair!

I just dropped in to say thanks to Some Guy for recommending "Destiny Unfulfilled." I found a PDF of it and am devouring it. I'm seeing here a lot of things that I myself observed about the series, but more importantly, I'm seeing clear articulations of things that have always bothered me about the series without my being able to explain it.
