@M84 and slimcoder In addition, Lucia's fighting style focuses on short blades and throwing knives which makes her unique among the DMC playables who use guns and/or large swords.

I don't know if it's gonna happen, I just really really want it to happen.

Please let DMC V SE be a thing this year.

Playable Vergil finally?

And don't say he already is. V doesn't count and you know it.

I'd play a sequel of Nero and Kyrie's daughter or something of the sort.

I'm more than confident that someone finds this statement to be questionable at best, but IMHO Dante is the best video game character.

He feels like everything a video game character should be while having enough depths to be something that never truly straightforward like most video game & Capcom characters are.

Although I still find his whole I'mAmMonster schtick to be questionable but at least it does make sense in a way. I just wished the games actually showed that.

Dante is my all time favorite with his cool, badass, sexy attitude that only rarely drifts into angst.

I like how he's basically treated like a joke by everyone around him except when it comes to actual demon slaying. There's an amusing juxtaposition of being a bonafide Physical God who can throw down with literal armies of demons and take down the Devil and being a loser who can't keep the utilities running in his shop.

Nah the working-class side of it is definitely meant to be a less cool side of him since said poverty is totally his fault, even if it is partially from being too good of a guy to accept payment sometimes.

Nah, Nero's the real working class hero. He does the same work Dante does and he's actually able to support himself and others.

It probably doesn't help that Dante blows a lot of money on those coats of his.

Nero’s even in a committed long-term relationship unlike Dante.

Bah, Dante doesn't need much to be happy.

Mind you, I think Cool Loser is an utterly wrong version of Dante.

Honestly, I'm surprised he can even afford to rent the property for his shop. I am assuming that the property values are extremely low in that neighborhood - probably due to the giant demonic tower thing a while back.

Actually, no, he can't afford it. He's had to rely on handouts from Lady in the past. This is one of the reasons Lady isn't interested in him romantically - it's a real turnoff for her.

[up]If you prefer the version of Dante in your own head, that's fine. But canon Dante is kind of a loser.

People keep saying that but he's an ex-mob assassin so he was fine before he killed dmeons.

Also, the loserdom seems wholly Fanon and I loved the anime.

I also am not buying the lack of romance people postulate whatsoever.

He was also kind of a crappy mercenary. His criteria was always unusually strict and his young age combined with his childish code of honor made him an outcast to most mercenaries that weren't Grue.

You do kind of have a point with the romance though. He did have a few flings with some women during his mercenary years, but none were any serious, and Grue did set him up with one of his daughters, but that was more for cheering her up when she was going through some personal problems, iirc. Post-3 is where he's more disinterested in romance, with the most being some playful floating (faking out a demon with using a rusalka-like demons to lure him out, mind you) and the odd sex joke.

[up][up]The assassin thing isn't really canon anymore.

[up]And the novel is dubiously canon now.

It should also be noted that even in the novel, his time as "Tony Redgrave" was a time in his life when he was suffering from trauma induced amnesia. He had forgotten he was ever Dante. Nell's death triggered the return of his memories since it happened in a scenario reminiscent of Eva's death. He was literally Not Himself for most of that novel.

Once he started the demon hunting thing in earnest as Dante, he's more or less given up romance. Heck, he flat out turned down Lucia in the DMC 5 prequel novel.

Also, the loserdom thing isn't fanon. You see it in DMC 5. The guy cannot keep his water running or the lights on.

Charles, the version of Dante you think is canon seems more like the DMC: Devil May Cry Reboot Dante.

[up][up] Even that version of Dante clearly doesn't have his life together and is arguably a bigger mess than classic Dante.

[up][up]Heck, the Bag of Spilling between games is even justified this way - Dante pawns Devil Arms whenever he needs cash.

[up]Yeah, but Charles seems to think canon Dante is a ladies' man who scores regularly. DMC: Devil May Cry Dante is first seen hooking up with a couple of random nightclub dancers.
