This one is quite long, so I won't attempt to summarise everything! The broad strokes:
- Work continues on the rescoped game
- Some screenshots are included, showing what appear to be in-level shots, and an overview of a work-in-progress level
- They indicate that highest-tier backers will get to test a build in September
- They estimate that by that point it should be possible to play through the game fully, albeit with some unfinished art
- Information on the musical direction, and approach thereto
- Includes a music-piece associated with the medical deck
- They intend to start running gaming- and dev- streams
- (Schedule in update)
- The source code to the original game has been released
- This is native to the Power Mac
- They've been working on updating it, and plan a new release of System Shock: Enhanced Edition
- The update includes some neat dev-tibdits regarding the original code
- A long question-and-answer section, based on questions from their Discord community
- One thing that caught my attention there: they indicate that the larger vision fell through due to a publisher pulling out of funding it, leaving them stranded
- A poster based on the Japanese System Shock box is now available
*Phew!* I said that it was a long one! 0_0
Speaking for myself, I'm rather encouraged by this update.

My Games & WritingGlad they're returning to the previous art direction, much more faithful to how the original looked. And I guess I shouldn't be surprised a publisher pulled out. I'm still on the fence, but we'll see where it leads.
They're dumping the VR idea, which ground development to a halt.
The update to System Shock Enhanced Edition (dubbed "The Source Port Update") was released a few days ago on September 7 on GOG (and presumably other platforms as well, like Steam).
So far it's working pretty well for me, though others report that it's not quite running yet on older hardware. Take that what you will.
10 hours into this game and I'm enjoying the heck out of it so far. With the help of all these source port updates, this game runs and looks very very good, perfectly playable in this day and age.
Finally beat the game after around 20 hours spent on it. Overall I really liked it, even with its jank (all the double clicking and dragging to get every item ever, though that could be remedied somewhat with a button that can instantly pick it up) and the final boss battle being kinda eh. Now I feel like either trying a few mods or diving straight into System Shock 2.
System Shock 2 is a game that I do highly recommend—especially if you enjoyed System Shock. It has its own issues, in my opinion, but—speaking for myself—I recall finding it to be a rather better experience than the original.
My Games & WritingWhile all the hype around the System Shock remake is cool and all, what about System Shock 3?
I may be mistaken, but I have the thought in my mind that System Shock 3 is expected to release well after the System Shock remake. If so, then that might explain the greater hype for the latter: it's simply nearer, and closer to being fully-formed.
My Games & WritingMakes sense. Wouldn't want to take hype away from the remake.
So, I got System Shock 2 a week ago or so.
I'm going in as a technomancer: an OSA "spook" with a secondary focus on technology.

(And what skills you decide on, for that matter!) I played a similar build not too long ago, and had an interesting experience of it. ^_^
[edit] Speaking of System Shock, there have been some updates recently to the two in-development games:
Regarding System Shock 3, they've parted ways (amicably, it's said) with their publisher, due to issues on the latter's end, I believe. Work is ongoing, however, and there's even a report of "a lot of interest" from other publishers.
Regarding the System Shock 1 remake, they recently posted some rather pretty-looking art with one of their updates, including a "final art preview" video:

My Games & WritingThat's what I reported just above, although I admittedly didn't name the publisher or give a link.
From what the developers have said, the parting was amicable, and other publishers are already showing interest in picking up the game.
(The issue with Starbreeze seems to be a result of that publisher's troubles, I think.)
My Games & WritingWho should publish System Shock 3? 2K?
I completely missed out on System Shock, and wish there were a way I could play it.
Remember when the series was in legal hell?
It's also on Steam unless things have changed from a week ago or so.

What would you guys think about splitting the trope page for System Shock into one for each game. With the remake and third game coming it's gonna be a real mess cramming all of that together.

Makes sense, as each game does have distinct "themes"; as well as different styles.
Also, there's some vids going around of the remake AND a trailer for the third. I'll link when I find them again.
If I may, I had them in my Twitter timeline. Here they are:
For the System Shock remake, a playthrough of the medical level:
For System Shock 3, a teaser video:
There's not much to go on in the teaser, but other than that, both look really good to me thus far. ^_^

I'm reserving judgement. I hope it'll be salvaged, but failing to follow your roadmap in addition to chewing too much is gonna have me less optimistic.
