Kindred - 6WB
Legendary Creature - Sheep Spirit Archer
{T}: Exile target creature.
{T}: Create a 6/1 black Wolf Spirit token with haste and "when this creature deals damage to a creature, exile that creature." This turn, creatures your opponents control must block that token if possible. Sacrifice it at the beginning of the end step.
2/5
"Choose: my arrows..."
"...or my teeth!"

It feels like there might be some green in there. Do black or white often do the taunt effect?

[up]Not really, but Kindred is a dual existence, so I figure having them be dual colored could work for flavor reasons.

Plan Ahead - UU
Enchantment
Your opponents play with their hands and the top cards of their libraries revealed.
You may look at the top card of your library.

I have a mechanic that's a tweak on Crew and I need a better name than "Blood Drive".

Blood-Driven Engine (2B)
Artifact - Vehicle
[5/5]
Blood Drive 2 (Sacrifice any number of creatures you control with total power 2 or more: This Vehicle becomes an artifact creature until end of turn.)

(Note: This card is underpowered, I just made it up in four seconds as an example.)

I've posted this on another thread, but I might as well post them here too. Here are some mock-Commander products I designed based on my ongoing My Little Planeswalker series:

————————
Deck: Arcane Royalty

Theme: Spellslinger

Subtheme: Extra Combats

Primary Commander:

Twilight, Soul of Magic 2URW

+2: Draw a card, then discard a card. If an instant or sorcery card is discarded this way, draw another card.

-3: Exile target instant or sorcery card from your graveyard. Copy that card, except the copy has lifelink. You may cast the copy this turn.

-12: Exile up to one instant or sorcery card from your hand. At the beginning of each of your upkeeps for the rest of the game, if it isn't an extra turn, copy the exiled card and you may cast the copy without paying its mana cost.

Twilight, Soul of Magic can be your commander.

4

Secondary Commanders: Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest and Ruhan of the Fomori

Sample Cards: Mizzix of the Izmagnus, Past in Flames, Taigam, Ojutai Master, Waves of Aggression, Plea for Power

————————
Deck: Vital Equinox

Theme: Lifegain

Subtheme: Weenies

Primary Commander:

Sunset, Radiant Dusk 1RWB

Legendary Planeswalker — Sunset

0: Create Sunset Flare, a legendary 3/3 red and white Elemental Avatar creature token with vigilance, lifelink, and haste.

-2: Scry 1. If you gained life this turn, draw a card.

-7: Destroy target nonland permanent. You lose 7 life.

Whenever you gain life, put a loyalty counter on Sunset, Radiant Dusk

Sunset, Radiant Dusk can be your commander.

3

Secondary Commanders: Alesha, Who Smiles at Death and Licia, Sanguine Tribune.

Sample Cards: Crested Sunmare, Karlov of the Ghost Council, Inspiring Commander, Brightflame, From Under The Floorboards

————————
Deck: Psychic Compost

Theme: Self-Mill/Dredge

Subtheme: Graveyard Theft

Primary Commander:

Wallflower, the Forgotten 1BGU

Legendary Planeswalker — Wallflower

+1: Put the top three cards of your library into your graveyard. If at least one of them is a permanent card, create a 0/2 green Plant Wall creature token with defender.

-3: Choose target permanent card in your graveyard or target instant or sorcery card in an opponent’s graveyard. You may play the chosen card this turn.

-8: Choose a card from each player’s graveyard. Put all land cards chosen this way onto the battlefield under your control, then cast all nonland cards chosen this way without paying their mana costs.

Wallflower, the Forgotten can be your commander.

4

Secondary Commanders: Tasigur, the Golden Fang and The Mimeoplasm

Sample Cards: Wrexial, the Risen Deep, Deadbridge Chant, Dreamborn Muse, Beacon of Unrest, World Shaper

————————
Deck: Shamrock’s Fortune

Theme: “Cards In Hand Matter”

Subtheme: Landfall/Lands

Primary Commander:

Clover, Mystic Mind 3GU

Legendary Planeswalker — Clover

+2: Draw a card, then return a land you control to its owner’s hand. You may play an additional land this turn.

+1: Add an amount of C equal to the number of cards in your hand minus 4.

-11: Put X +1/+1 counters on each creature you control, where X is half the number of cards in your hand, rounded up.

You have no maximum hand size.

Clover, Mystic Mind can be your commander.

5

Secondary Commanders: Thrasios, Triton Hero and Tishana, Voice of Thunder

Sample Cards: Kefnet the Mindful, Avenger of Zendikar, Rites of Flourishing, Spontaneous Generation, Psychosis Crawler

I was going to comment that "landfall" and "cards in hand" might be an awkward fit for each other, but Clover's first ability is an interesting way to marry them.

I've been idly thinking about using double-faced cards to represent something like the Eternals. Something like...

Reckless Zealot 1RW
Creature - Protoss Warrior
Double Strike
2/2
—FLIP—
Wise Dragoon
Artifact Creature - Protoss Warrior
Reach, Menace
Reconstruct 2WB (During your main phase, you may pay 2WB to cast this card from your graveyard. If a creature with Reconstruct dies, exile it.)
3/3

#14534: Sep 7th 2018 at 1:04:49 PM

[up] I think that mechanically, that ability would need to be on the front of the card. Also, while Reconstruct is a good name, I can't help but think that the mechanic is so flexible that limiting it to just this context is actually doing it a disservice; I might call it something like "rebirth".

As an example:

Ancient Hero (2WW)
Creature - Human Warrior
3/3
Vigilance
Rebirth 4WW (You may cast this card from your graveyard. If you do, it enters the battlefield transformed)
[Reverse side]
Spectral Guardian
(W) Creature - Spirit Warrior
4/4
Vigilance, flying
When ~ enters the battlefield, you gain 4 life.
If ~ would leave the battlefield, exile it.

That's a much better way to do it. Thanks!

Yeah, I wasn't gonna make it a Star Craft set, so it was just the first concept that came to mind. I'd almost have been tempted to call it is Reincarnate, since they come back in a different form, but that's the name of a card. For now, Rebirth it is!

All-Consuming Portal - 7
Artifact
Imprint - At the beginning of each player's upkeep, that player loses 3 life unless he or she exiles a card from his or her hand.
At the beginning of each player's end step, that player chooses a card exiled with ~. If the chosen is an instant or sorcery card, that player copies it and may cast the copy without paying its mana cost. If the chosen card is a permanent card, that player puts a token onto the battlefield that's a copy of the chosen card.
It promises power to those who stand upon the precipice, showing them illusions of infallibility. Yet they all are swallowed in the end.

Bedevil (1U)
Instant - Malefic
Kicker 1R
Counter target instant or sorcery spell. If Bedevil was kicked, create a 1/1 red Devil creature token. It has "When this creature dies, it deals 1 damage to any target."

I was actually kind of astounded that "Bedevil" was not taken as a card name.

Other Demon creatures you control get +1/+1.
Other Legendary Demon creatures you control have Hexproof.
Partner

Whenever ~ attacks, it deals 2 damage to target creature defending player controls. If you control another Legendary Demon, ~ deals 5 damage to that target instead.

The Last Spawn of Ulamog (5)
Legendary Creature - Eldrazi
0/0
Haste
~ enters the battlefield with seven +1/+1 counters on it.
Whenever ~ attacks, blocks, or becomes blocked, remove a +1/+1 counter from ~.
With the titans felled, their fragments gradually withered away - but even a dying Eldrazi is still a threat.

Love the concept.

So if I attack with it and you block it, it'll lose two counters? That invites your opponent to wear it down with chump blockers, which I think could interact interestingly with other cards.

That's actually probably overcosted given the big drawback. Compare Clockwork Hydra. For the same mana cost, it enters with 3 fewer counters and doesn't have haste, but it isn't legendary, doesn't lose a counter from being blocked, does damage upon losing a counter, and can regain lost counters. Also an artifact, but that's neither a strict upgrade or downgrade.

Also, I am now inspired:

Clockwork Eldrazi - 4
Artifact Creature - Eldrazi
~ enters the battlefield with two +1/+1 counters on it.
Whenever ~ attacks or blocks, remove a +1/+1 counter from it.
Put two cards your opponents own from exile into their owners' graveyards: put a +1/+1 counter on ~.
0/0
After much winding, it sprang to life. After much screaming, it was finally stopped.
