Dude, the finale was bad. Not just because Tom did not wear the suit. 1. Darksied: This is the guy they hyped up all season as being the biggest threat that Clark has ever faced. Instead of an epic battle that would decide the fate of humanity (like in the last few seasons finales )Darksied gets taken out in one punch. 2. Chloe reading the Comic made no sense. Shouldn't everyone know who superman is if that were published? 3. After the wedding the story just seemed to stop and go into a clip show. Again, they have hyped this up since the start of the season as being the big climax and it was a clip show. 4. The Suit. This is something that they have been promising the fans for ten years. From conventions to interviews with wizard, they have said that you will see Tom in the suit when the show ends. Instead of doing that, they put up a bad cg model of Tom flying around and some close up shots of his face.

This was an insult to anyone who followed the show for ten years, anyone who liked the characters of the show, and to fans of Superman.

Tom has always been superman without the suit.I t woiuld be silly to ignore the feelings, the legacy the amazing characters just becuase a suit and lame darkseid. He is a rock guy with fuunny helmet anywys

Jonathan Kent made cry awesome performnce, awesome series overall. Brandon Routh wore the suit and he ins't half as awesome as Tom.

^ He did, sort of. They had a character named Adam Knight who was due to be unmasked as Bruce Wayne incognito. They had to back off when Batman Begins was announced.

@fallen Darksied was not just "some rock guy in a helmet", He is probably one of the best creations of Kirby. This is a guy who posses a threat to the universe and all life in it. His story is apart of a galactic epic. Here he's taken out in one hit. Kirby is spinning in his grave.

The fact that most of the finale was a clip show proofs that the producers did not care about the fans and were not willing to let the show end on a high note.

[up] I'm surprised you were expecting more... I mean, it's not like they haven't done the Missed Moment of Awesome bit before... The fight with Doomsday, for example. Or Zod (every iteration)...

Considering they haven't done a true "ultimate" fight scene for any enemy, I don't see the "disrespect to the franchise" that you do... And I'm not sure I will.

I rather dislike Darkseid, so I wasn't at all disappointed.

Was there a point to the Chloe framing story? I'd have rather had those five minutes for, y'know, a real Darkseid fight.

And seriously, the Darkseid thing should've been two hours by itself, with another two hours for the wedding, the return of Lex, etc.

On the one hand, I loved the fact that he finally flew and finally wore the costume.

On the other hand, the Darkseid fight was totally lame. Lame lame laaaame. They have Michael Ironside as Lois's father, but they can't get him to voice Darkseid? Lame!

You want to know who Darkseid is? Check this quote:

"I. Am. The. New. God. All is one in Darkseid. This mighty body is my church. When I command your surrender, I speak with three billion voices. When I make a fist to crush your resistance. It is with three billion hands. When I stare into your eyes and shatter your dreams. And break your heart. It is with six billion eyes. Nothing like Darkseid has ever come among you; nothing will again. I will take you to a hell without exit or end. And there I will murder your souls! And make you crawl and beg! And die! Die! DIE FOR DARKSEID!"

They totally missed the chance to make Darkseid awesome.

And the most awesome character, Tess, didn't even survive.

[up] nice poem still i don't understand this darkseid love, Really the only special thng he has are is omega beams (that even Batman could dodge). Otherwise he is just ... Lame.Oh! And he is a a new god OMG... what ever that is...

"World of Cardboard" Speech anyone?. Most overrated villain ever.

The finale was awesome regardless.

Darkseid mainly gets his rep from being one of the few people who can pose a real threat to Superman that isn't just a mindless Villain God-Mode Sue like Doomsday.

That and his over-the-top hamminess. His appearance might not be the greatest, but Galactus has been running about for 40 years and no one sneezes twice at that helmet of his unless they're only familiar with him as "Some guy from the comics" without doing the slightest bit of research into his character.

Also it's a well known fact that anyone who doesn't like Darkseid is a Nazi-sympathizer(ok not really).

This is still a signature.

nice poem
It's...not a poem. It's Darkseid's speech from Final Crisis. Darkseid has released the Anti-Life Equation across the globe, enslaved three-fourths of humanity, and is destroying the multiverse just by existing. Want to know how he is defeated? Batman shoots him with a God-killing time bullet that poisons him, the Flashes lead his Omega Beams back to him to destroy his physical body, and then Superman has to sing a note of the pure multiverse in order to kill his soul.

Basically, Darkseid is a God with power on the level of Superman. Superman can't defeat him with one punch.

I'd like to see Superman beat him with one punch. Like, actually beat him because he's the superior fighter, and not have the moment ruined by another diabolus ex machina.

It must be Adaptation Decay then. Becuase in all other media he is depicted as just a rock guy with laser beams.

@ wait... Batman using a gun and superman killing someone? ... that seems wrong.

In JLU, Darkseid was way powerful (although Superman beat him in a fair fight, Darkseid still subdued him).

Ha. Welcome to the world of Grant Morrison. Although Batman shooting Darkseid was pretty awesome and technically Superman didn't kill him, just destroyed his soul.

[up][up][up] "Lasers" is a complete stripping down of the Omega Effect. They don't stop until they hit whoever Darkseid wants them to hit, and then they erase that person from existence. He is a GOD INCARNATE!

You know, I'm not really a Smallville fan. But I ADORED the Finale. At first, it was pretty meh, I was enjoying it but I still couldn't give much of a crap. And then I heard the music.

[up][up] Well In all media I have seen him. His "omega beams" are just overglorified laser beams. For example here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLGRkYYmJgQ. Sure they are strong enough to hurt the man of steel but superman isn't erased from existance for them....

I am sure they are very strong in the comics tough.

[up] Yeah I loved it to it was truly epic.

  • Considering he's Smallville's replacement for Batman, I'm guessing he channeled Bruce there.

  • Maybe this is the cool, awesome Silver Age!Clark, who can do awesome stuff like that, and against whom Darkseid doesn't stand a chance, which would also explain why he went down so easily.
