That's what I noticed the most. It's like the unholy spawn of a bulborb and a cloaking burrownit.
There are also these weird fire slug things that look cool.
Rock Pikmin, I think, are way more absurd than most of us could have imagined.
Also: Daaaaayuuuum sonnnn.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaSo Rock Pikmin are animals plants and minerals?
With the power of a dragon I can make up for my inability to spill. So do you think Rock Pikmin will be an entire new "color", with their own onion and everything? Or do you think it's more of a special kind, like the Bulbmin? Their design, name, and abilities seem rather nonstandard compared to most Pikmin, making me suspect they're some sort of transformation or temporary state or something, rather than a permanent new color of Pikmin.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! The demo they're using showcasing at E3.
Honestly I'm kind of worried. It seems like this game focuses a lot less on exploration and more on mission type stuff. I hope that's not the case.
I don't think any outside the core 3 will ever get onions.
White is a maybe but Purple and Rock would probably be way too broken if it was that easy to get more.
edit: Wow, this person sucks at this game.

I think they were only showing Challenge Mode from what I've heard. The main story is different, they said.
And what I meant is that Rock Pikmin seem more along the lines of Bulbmin. Like, not a "true" Pikmin. Maybe you don't keep them between days, or they turn back into normal Pikmin, I dunno. But I'm placing my bets on them being "special" Pikmin separate from the standard colors.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Maybe Olimar is absent because he's the president of Hocotate Freight now?

The New Age of Awesome is here! Not even the sky is the limit!Maybe those four are for Challenge Mode only and Olimar is the main char of the singleplayer, but has some sort of secret they're witholding for now?
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I like to think (for now) that he made enough money off Pikmin 2 to retire early, and finally spend some time with his family.
Rock Pikmin must make 20 Questions hell.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaI have to agree with Anom that the Rock Pikmin seem like special Pikmin to me. (And they seem even slower than the Purples and share their stun effect going by that video.)
Also, that did indeed look like Challenge Mode.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite. This reminds me, I have to finish Pikmin 1.
Every time I think about playing that time limit intimidates me - it's been so long that I don't remember quite how to play, and I wasn't that effective to begin with... and if I mess up to much I can't win the game.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I got the bad ending the first time, and the normal ending the second. Yeah, the time limit is something I'm glad they removed from Pikmin 2.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.I'm will buy a Wii U just for Pikmen 3 alone(if the price is fair enough, like 250-300 USD)
Keep your pimp hand strong and your gear fresh to deathI ended up with the best ending on my first run of Pikmin.
Also, this Pikmin news has me in the mood for replaying Pikmin 2. I was going to wait until near 3's release so I could play all three in a row, but I can't resist, not to mention I'll probably be in school around then making it all but impossible.
But I'm doing something different this time. I'm doing... a completely normal run. :P Two runs ago I did a no death run, and my last one was both a no death run and the ultimate challenge, the 8 day run.
Anybody else here ever complete the 8 day challenge?
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!8? I hadn't checked in ages, but last I heard had said 9, interestingly enough. Is the 8 day challenge for every part, or only the required parts?
EDIT: Oh wait, you're talking about Pikmin 2? Never mind.

8 Days? The best I ever heard of was 14. I can't imagine doing all this stuff in only 8.
Yeah, Pikmin 2.
8 days is literally the minimum. If you had infinite time each day and could just select to end the day once you get everything you can get at the time, it would still require 8 days due to having to go to other areas to get new Pikmin and the like.
And yeah, it's as difficult as it sounds to get everything you can possibly get every day.
The most annoying thing that happened was it glitched when I was going from one floor to another in the Subterranean Complex, and registered Pikmin deaths for no reason as if they had fallen during the floor transition. And it still autosaved. Thankfully I had a backup save, but I had to do the whole day over...
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Clearly. Though I do wonder how the controls are now.

That's disturbing and hilarious at the same time.
Minor note, but: I like that you can throw your fellow captains now. Makes getting them where you want them to be that much easier.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaThough it may take some of the strategy out of areas with "Pikmin only" ledges that you have to lead them around from below...
But it also opens up new possibilities, so I suppose it's a fair tradeoff.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! Not quite. I can see a set-up where you have to go across 4 islands on a lake that you can not go around and the bridge-making materials to connect the islands are on the far side of the lake. You could do a similar thing with mountains/hills that the Pikmin can carry stuff down but are too steep to be climbed.
Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie! What I meant is that those ledges you can throw Pikmin onto but can't access yourself are now moot. Like that odd curved platform right near the landing site of Distant Spring/Perplexing Pool, with the walkway too narrow for Pikmin and the ledge too high for Olimar. That's probably the most familiar example.
With Captain throwing you'd no longer need to lead Pikmin from below unless the ledge was like five layers.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! Not quite, it doesn't appear Captains can be thrown as far as Pikmin.
