Wow the DLC is hard.

Awesome, but hard.

I would call the Plasma Wraith's main attack Boring, but Practical. It's a fast stab towards Pikmin in range, and thus keeps the boss pecking away at your numbers at all times if you don't stay on your toes.

Yeah, the DLC is pretty tough.

[up][up] Couldn't have put it better myself.

[up] Isn't thirty desert remix based off a challenge mode level in pikmin 2, or at least has a similar concept?

Not that I'm aware of.

There was only one Purples-only challenge mission in 2, and there were no candypop buds, just two Waterwraiths at once.

I meant the mission where you get about 25 whites, and you have to change them into purples in order to carry the heavy stuff back

In 2, how many days does it take for Candypop Buds to regenerate? I'm trying to get the weight in Wistful Wild, so i'm steadily going to the Emergence Cave to grind to 100 Purples.

I think they stop regenerating after a while. You'll have to go into other dungeons.

Oh, ok.

Anyway, i'm still kicking myself for not realizing that the shockwave from tossing Purples stuns Water Wraiths BEFORE using my only Ultra-Bitter Spray to see if it would work. Dang Submerged Castle.

The two Violet Candypop Buds on Floor 2 of Emergence Cave and the random one on Floor 2 of Hole of Beasts disappear once you have 20 or more Purples. The best spot for Purple grinding is Floor 7 of the Subterranean Complex. There's always 3 buds there. And Floor 4 has 3 Ivory Candypop Buds and a pair of Queen Candypop Buds, if you need more Whites or just more Pikmin in general.

What I do is just take a unit of 15 Pikmin into the cave, skip my way until Floor 7, convert them, leave, put them back in the ship and get 15 more to go again. I also use the Queens on floor 4 to increase my army overall. You can make multiple trips per day.

If Subterranean Complex is a bit intense for you, there's always a single Violet bud on Floor 4 of the Hole of Beasts, but that's a slower process.

Fuck the unspeakable wonder.

'Cause it's far away and heavy? I like to get that before I go to the side area with the Temporal Mechanism and Fossilized Ursidae. That way they have more time to carry it back.

Anyway, more Pikmin 3 DLC is out, if you missed it. Battle Enemies! missions 6-10.

So, I got a Wii U and Pikmin 3 a few days ago and wow - I haven't thoroughly enjoyed a game this much since I first got King Of Fighter XIII. I mean, there've been games I liked and loved to play through, but this game is just wonderful to immerse yourself in. I don't even remember liking Pikmin 1 this much when I played it years ago.

I haven't beaten the game yet, so I won't be back until I get past the point where spoilers stop being an issue, but I just wanted to say that. This game is awesome. Yep.

So I tried the five new DLC missions. I've gotten Platinums on Tropical Wilds and just now Formidable Oak, and silvers on the other three for now.

Formidable Oak was tricky at first, but then I got the hang of it. I wound up killing five Dwarf Red Bulborbs and three adult Red Bulborbs all in one move by rolling a lead ball at them. Like ugly bowling pins.

And yet my score of 1100 pales compared to the world record of 2770. I'd need almost three minutes left out of almost six minutes to achieve that, sheesh.

Something's fishy here about the world record for Thirsty Desert Remix. The world record is 11005, and the Platinum score is 5165. That means they gained 5840 points from time left, with each second being 10 points. Thus, they had 584 seconds remaining, or well over 9 minutes, almost 10.

Which can't be possible, since the map has an 8-minute time limit.

[up] I thought each second gave you 30.

Nah, pretty sure each second gives you 10 points. I'll be playing more today, though, so I could test things.

Anyway, it annoys me that I can't beat the world record on the Vehemoth Phosbat. Closest I can get is 1:46, compared to the record of 0:58.

Aiming is so much worse than it was in Pikmin 2, even with the Wiimote. How is that even possible that aiming got downgraded?

I saw somebody get a pretty good time by just throwing alph onto the place with the car battery, not even bothering with the bridge or any other lightbulbs.

That's what I did. I can do the first phase fine (Though sometimes I lose a second or so to Alph waving down at Brittany in an unskippable animation, which is really annoying), but I just can't bring down the Phosbat during the second phase fast enough. Aiming is too erratic.

I can get it pretty quickly. The trick is to fight as dirty as the swamp you're in, sacrificing Pikmin left and right.

If you take down his foot ASAP and then swarm his head instead of throwing while dodging his tongue, you can take him down in two rounds. You lose a lot of Pikmin, though.

Anyway, how likely do you people think a sequel is? I don't think one is likely to happen, but I don't think a spin off is out of the question.

I expect we'll get one eventually but we have no idea when that will be. I hope it's this generation rather than the tenth.
