I have being saying for a while now: for all the fear of tyrane becoming an azahra, she instead become Maiev, with Sylvannas as is ildian.

I will feel bad for malfurion if it wasnt for how bland he is.

Arthas didn't make Sylvanas the monster she is. She did that. Unlike him, she has always had the free will to be different and instead she has chosen evil.

I think the juxtaposition between the two of them would be great. While originally Arthas is the bad guy who killed her and raised her, the difference between the two of them is that he was a pawn while she regained her free will and could have chosen a different path. Arthas didn't force her to go down this route, as it may have initially seemed, and in retrospect he had less control than she did.

That's why I'd like a confrontation between the two.

If I recall correctly, what Arthas did to Sylvanas has been more compared to actual, literal goddamn rape than a convoluted plot to give her the chance to be better.

It'd be way better to keep Arthas out of it and have Delaryn handle it. Otherwise as Nord said....No. Just... No

If/when Sylvanas goes down, maybe as one last act of spite she could Mana Bomb Dalaran into dust (Dalaran really tends to get attacked a lot).

[up][up][up] Uh, what? I'm not saying he gave her a chance to be better, that's ridiculous. That was when she freed herself from the Lich King's control.

And she went on to become just as big a threat, if not more, entirely on her own volition.

[up]And that's why Arthas should not be involved. Sylvanas has her own rich history to pay for.

Honestly I don't think Arthas should be directly involved with Sylvanas at all. Rather I think if he's genuinely trying to help, he should have mostly an advisory role for Bolvar.

Arthas was the Lich King longer and fully embraced the power of the role and may have a much deeper understanding of the Shadowlands than Bolvar does. He could easily know secrets of Death that Bolvar does not.

Sylvanas may of played a role in setting off the events of the expansion, but it's worth remembering that it's a lot more then just the all-Sylvanas-all-the-time show. I expect there to be some connecting thread between Arthas and Sylvanas, but they don't even have to have a face-to-face meeting.

With Sylvanas in general, it's really an open question as to how big of a role she is even going to have in the latter stages of the expansion. The Jailer may ultimately win out if she and him come into conflict, or some other villain may rise up (I'm looking at you Azshara and your "true throne of power").

Going to do a separate post for this since it's a completely different topic.

Official Preview of Ardenweald and the Night Fae Covenant

Of particular note is the clarification of what happens to non-Wild God souls who end up in Ardenweld.

They help care for Ardenweld and maintain the cycle of rebirth for alongside the other Night Fae, often choosing to take on animal forms in the process. Which lines up nicely with the Night Fae covenant ability.

I think that makes Ardenweld a lot less low-key creepy then it otherwise would be and might not be that bad of an afterlife for those suited to it. Well, if Ardenweld wasn't suffering from a horrific soul drought and a Drust invasion from the realm of Thros

it depend what version, in the gmae arthas just kill her and rise her, in the book if I recall he pretty much torture her by rising her and killing over and over, which is....fuck up.

And I dont know how much lack of control saiga have, it would be fuck up to said sylvannas willing chose evil while athas get a morality free card.

the best I can see is arthas self destroying with her, it would be better I guess.

Aardenweld is also ready for testing now, so we can see some of the storyline.

The currently playable arc involves us being taught how the wheel works there, when we find a seed of a powerful, recently-dead nature spirit that binds itself to us and nobody else. Questing through reveals it to be Ysera, who hasn't regenerated because she's haunted by the nightmares of her life, and constantly reliving the moments of her death at the temple of Elune. We help her out and she seemingly returns to us, but players crash so the story is currently bottlenecked there.

What's interesting is that showing a recently-dead hero like Ysera actually considerably narrows down the timeframe of when Sylvanas broke the Afterlife, since she ended up in the proper place instead of the Maw. Given that Legion was originally intended to progress clockwise from Aszuna to Stormheim, I feel like it's a safe call that Sylvanas' deal with Helya is what broke the cycle. So that means Tirion and Varian are also likely sorted to their proper afterlives too.

More important voices than ours need to be heard, and now is the time to listen.

We are postponing our upcoming World of Warcraft: Shadowlands livestream planned for June 9, and will share more details about the expansion in the future.

Good on them. There's more important statements to make and more pertinent news than updates on the expansion to focus on right now.

Looks like Maldraxxus has been opened in the alpha, so The Maw is the only zone left now. I'm thinking we'll make the transition to beta somewhere in late July.

I've been following the Red Shirt Guy's exploration of the zone on twitter since he tends to keep his feed free of major spoilers, and one of the things he noted was that all 4 covenant zones just happen to have a predominately featured humanoid-ish race that has both male and female variants. Bastion has the Kyrian, Revendreth has the Venthyr, Sylvar (aka Fawns), and now in Maldraxxus we have the Gladiators.

I'm not saying we will necessarily have 4 post-launch Allied Races that can be either faction but are locked to a specific Shadowlands Covenant, but the possibility certainly exists.

Also, it looks like the latest build fully implemented the flightpaths between Oribus and the various zones and I'm very happy with the results. One thing I was afraid of is that Shadowlands might have an overabundance of loading screens that can often be immersion breaking, and I'm glad to see they went in a different direction here. The flightpath could maybe use a slightspeed boost to cut down on the time it takes to go from Oribus to your destination zone, but the actual mechanics and visuals are top notch.

Tiny change, Rank 4 essences that come from emissary chests will now have bad luck protection on them.

I'm kinda echoing the wowhead comments here, why these over things like the mounts/pets/toys?

So apparently we are getting a patch 8.3.7. That's unexpected.

Nothing new will be testable in at least the initial build, which makes me wonder why this patch is even a thing (the under-the-hood changes mentioned in the initial post probably could of waited until 9.0). My best guess is that they might of broken off the first phase of the Shadowlands pre-event and are going to release it before 9.0.

Like imagine if there's a "Hunt for Nathanos" half that takes place before Sylvanas shatters the helm and kicks off a new Scourge invasion, that could be released before 9.0 drops.

New Alpha build out today (strangely no PTR build yet, though I'm sure that'll happen before the end of the week).

A couple of (non-spoilery) points worth mentioning.

- Single-Minded Fury makes it's triumphant return, allowing Fury Warriors to once again dual-wield 1-handed weapons.

- Druids can now customize their shapeshift forms at the barbershop and racial cat/bear form colors are no longer determined by your hair or skin color.

- Worgen can now customize their Worgen and Human forms independently of each other.

- New customization options for Night Elves and Draenei. Something in particular I've noticed is the option for Night Elves (both male and female) to have vines in their hair. While this was likely inspired by some very early concept art from all the way back in 2002, when combined with the updated Night Elf architecture we see in Alliance-controlled Darkshore, I really feel like Blizzard is subtly focusing on the Druidic side of the Night Elves. Which I think could be a good thing since it could help them stand out from the other Elf races.

Ars Technica: Bot mafias have wreaked havoc in World of Warcraft Classic

This goes beyond monopolizing resources and working the Auction House, going so far as counter-reporting players who fight back against the bots, earning temporary bans for legitimate players. Blizzard is acting far too slowly against the bots and taking inadequate measures to rectify the in-game economy.

So, basically, Classic all over again. I keep asking people what they thought would happen and getting pugnacious responses back. "You don't understand the purity of the experience." "BFA is repetitive and grindy, so I'm choosing to play a different repetitive, grindy game." "But what if I want to run 30 dungeons in a day?"

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"

The PTR despite only having backend expansion prep stuff did have enough strings to give us a vague idea of what's happening for the pre-event according to WoWhead.

The event begins or ends with us tracking down Nathanos at Marris Stead and fighting him in a remix of his world boss fight in Classic. Right now the outcome of the fight is unclear (it has an un-added movie attached to it), but regardless of if we kill him or he just flees, given the nature of the Shadowlands the former still doesn't preclude him from showing up again.

My favorite part about the bots things is that Blizzard's response was to limit how many times people could do dungeons every day

...which was a joke they made in a fake april's fool patch update in 2006.

Real Patch notes

As part of our ongoing efforts to eliminate exploitative and automated gameplay, with scheduled weekly maintenance in each region, we’re implementing the following change to our settings on all Wo W Classic realms:

You may now enter a maximum of 30 unique instances (dungeon and raid) per day, per realm.

Fake Patch Notes:

New Dungeon Visitation Limitation System

With the many improvements to end-game dungeons implemented last patch, we decided that it was necessary to limit the number of times a player can enter a dungeon per day. This was done to prevent the economy from being flooded with overly valuable items, and to ensure that players weren't acquiring too much gold during what we'd consider a reasonable amount of play-time. We realize that many players enjoy repeated trips to their favorite dungeons, so we've made this new limitation as least restrictive as possible. Each character on a player's account may enter the same dungeon up to three times per day, and may visit a total of five dungeons over the course of a twenty-four hour period. Keep in mind, each character on your account is flagged separately so with eight characters, that's a total of 40 dungeon-runs per day!
