Yeah, I'm dealing with the Necrons before they turn on the Marines and the Eldar with that massive honor guard of theirs. Thankfully their Stronghold isn't too difficult, and I've got plenty of bonuses (pre-deployed base, extra squad cap, bonus requisition) and a good honor guard myself.

I've once seen the Necrons take out the Imperial Guard stronghold.

Necrons were hilariously overpowered, same with the Tau,it's like they did zero tests and added them anyway

[up] From what I recall, the Necron Lord in the campaign was pretty much a case of Magikarp Power - he starts out fairly weak, but if you get all his upgrades, he just stomps everyone else.

I used to play them a lot in Dark Crusade - I always took my time to build an extensive base during campaign missions as (unlike later in Soulstorm) your base was kept on the battle map, so if you had to fight there again, you had an easier time dealing with incursions.

With Necrons,I recall rushing them as soon as possible in effort to prevent them getting that damn Monolith

Also, the necron lord should NOT able to respawn right in front of my base, teleport him away or something

thats pretty how the Do W games worked

A glaringly obvious exploit that wouldn't be patched till later

like when they limited Artillery units cause could just mass them and blind fire

Necrons were hilariously overpowered, same with the Tau, it's like they did zero tests and added them anyway

The Necrons are not actually any more powerful on the strategic map than the others. Battles between two AI factions are always autoresolved with this algorithm:

  • Battle outcome is rolled as 60%/40% in favor of the attacker and the defender, respectively.
  • +10% to defender if their honor guard is present.
  • +20% to defender if the territory is their stronghold.
  • +7% to both attacker and defender for each territory owned.

All races use the same set of values, regardless of difficulty level. Auto-resolve involving the human player works similarly, but with slightly different rules due to the player only being able to autoresolve defensive battles:

  • Base chance of the player winning is 65% on Easy, 50% on Medium, 40% on Hard.
  • Player gets +7% per territory strength on Easy, but only +4% on the other difficulty levels.
  • AI gets +4% per honor guard.

And the Tau are anything but overpowered. No amount of Kroot can hold off mass-deepstriked Flayed Ones.

Just had my Necron run freeze when I won the Chaos stronghold, the last stronghold on the map mind you, and I may not have saved after taking out the Blood Ravens...

Fuck it, it counts as a win, I'll look up the damn ending on Youtube.

Fatal scar error my ass.

I was under the impression that the game autosaves after every battle for the "Continue" button.
