It's hilarious that Big Mom's One-Winged Angel form is just "Bigger Mom". That's just your name and not actual canon, right?

I think Shanks should be ranked S- instead. Word of God has already said that Shanks is the weakest of the original Emperors at the start of the series.

Yeah, that's just my nickname, I don't think that form has an official name.

As for Shanks, I'd say flashback Shanks with 2 arms is S tier (because he was rivals with Mihawk), then when he lost an arm he fell to S- or A+ tier (thus why Mihawk says he's a has-been), and when Ace was starting out he was S- tier (thus that line in the Ace Light Novel), but now he's trained himself back up to S tier (focusing on King and Observation Haki).

If Kaido with Flame Dragon Torch and Luffy with Bajarang Gun can get their own tier entries, isn't there an argument to be made that Big Mom with 3000 Leagues of Misery should too?

Yes, there is an argument to be made there about Misery and I've considered it, but based on her portrayal, I wouldn't put her that high. Flame Dragon Torch Kaido was bigger than Onigashima itself, while Misery was only about twice the size of Bigger Mom, who is around giant-size. Scale-wise, Misery is probably smaller than the Numbers. And based on how much damage she did to Kid and that Law cut her in half, I wouldn't place Misery in S+ tier. She is Big Mom's strongest attack, but I don't think she's strong enough to cross a whole tier.

Same deal for Gum-Gum Giant Gear 5 Luffy, the form is not portrayed as that much stronger than regular Gear 5 Luffy.

My thing with Bigger Mom is that I didn't really feel the power boost. I love that fight but like, what does Bigger Mom do that Big Mom couldn't do? She was already stronger than Law and Kidd. XD

I think your mistake there is in underrating how powerful Law and Kid's Awakenings are. Big Mom didn't transform into Bigger Mom just because she was a little nervous, she transformed because with one attack each, they did more damage to her than she's felt in decades. That's more than Luffy's Kong Gun, Nami's Zeus Breeze Tempo, or Jimbei's Vagabond Drill in Whole Cake Island, Queen's Brachio Bomber in Wano, or any attack she took in the fight previously. She needed to get stronger in order to beat them. And they still defeated Bigger Mom using their Awakened moves.

We saw how strong Law's Awakening was when he fought Blackbeard. I firmly believe that Awakened Kid and Law are Admiral-level. That's why I have the power scaling of their fight go like this:

• S: Bigger Mom
• S-: Big Mom, Awakened Law, Awakened Kid
• A+:
• A: Law, Kid

With a 2-tier gap, Kid and Law couldn't have beaten Big Mom as a duo without using their Awakenings. Once they did use them, it closed the gap so much that Big Mom needed to power herself up to widen it again. But while she did widen it with Bigger Mom, it wasn't by as much as the initial gap was, meaning Law and Kid could defeat her as a duo. That's my interpretation of the fight, anyway.

Some interesting things people have noticed about Mars’ scenes this chapter:

• Lucci unhesitatingly addresses him as a superior and tells him what he wants to know, despite there being no indication to him what or who this monstrosity is. This may indicate he was already aware the Elders could transform… or just that he’s not exactly in the best shape to deal with a giant fuck-off bird on top of everything else right now lol.
• Second, when he confronts York, he asks her where the room shown in the broadcast is, indicating he believes it’s coming from the same place it was filmed at. IMO that’s totally setting up a twist that it’s coming from somewhere completely different, maybe even another island.

If it is coming from another island, the three most likely locations would be Baldimore, Punk Hazard, or Elbaf. That said, we have seen the room with the heart monitor before, it's where the Straw Hats were gathered and watched Luffy while he was talking with Vegapunk and fighting Lucci. You can actually see that room in the most recent anime episodes, heart monitor and all.

That said, all that means is that's the room where the signal was triggered. That doesn't necessarily mean that it's also the room where the signal is being broadcast from. Then again, Vegapunk said on the recording that he doesn't expect anyone to be there to stop it, so he might not have taken precautions like that.

I've seen theories suggesting that the broadcast is coming from Ohara, given the parallels we're potentially seeing to Clover.

But given that the broadcast started with Vegapunk being mortally wounded, I highly doubt that the broadcast would be in an obvious location on Egghead. So that might be where the other lab that Franky found will come into play.

Just a reminder about the Iron Giant, the Vegaforce 1 is based on it, so it's around the same size. Giants average 20 meters tall. The Thousand Sunny is 56 meters from the top of the highest mast to the bottom of the keel. The Vegaforce 1 carried the Thousand Sunny like a toy boat, meaning it's got to be around 200 meters tall.

The Marines weren't kidding about the Iron Giant being FAR larger than the giants, it's around the same size as San Juan Wolf (180 meters).

I still think Franky's going to acquire or create a comparably-sized robot and his final boss will be a Megazord fight with Wolf.

Oh, I totally agree. And I hope this Battle Franky 39 is piloted by General Franky, in turn piloted by Franky, like in Gurren Lagann. And then Wolf changes sizes throughout the fight between his regular giant height of 18m and his Huge-Huge Fruit height of 180m, requiring Franky to change between using General Franky and BF-39 to fight him on his own scale.

I wonder if the Huge Huge Fruit can make things ten times bigger when awakened.

It does seem like the obvious power up for such a Fruit, but let's see if the guy can Awaken it.

Devil Fruit Awakenings are still rather rare at the moment, not even characters like Kaido and Big Mom had their fruits awakened even though it would have been totally expected for those two.

I wonder if Oda will commit to keep it to only a few characters or if a bunch of characters will suddenly awaken their fruits during the final streach of the story.

Eh, I think they did, Oda just didn't mention it for some reason. I think the purple hybrid form we saw Kaido use was his Awakening, and I think Big Mom's Awakening was Soul Pocus all along.

I think we havent seen their awakening, I think because awakening is a narratively unique and powerful thing. We may see Big Mom and Kaido later on and THEN they could be shown as having awakened their fruits to stay relevant, but I doubt that will help them in the long run. Still we NEVER addressed why Kaido wanted to die and why he didnt just go for the Captain Obvious answers. It's like why people didnt just tell Naruto who his parents were. Why keep that from him? Why treat him that way? The only reason is that Kishimoto had stablished Naruto as being alone and ostacized and it was too ingrained to correct course and Kishimoto didnt realized he should have shown why.

Sorry for that Tangent, actually while I would be sad we would never learn that about Kaido Its not series ruining or even infuriating as that other thing.

Kaido said why he wants to die.

He wants a glorious, meaningful death to complete his life. It's not deeper than that.

I think Oda probably realized after Wano that the little god cloth works amazingly well for Zoan awakenings.

After Egghead (or Egghead if Oda wants to have them keep their post-Wano bounties for a little longer) I wouldn't be surprised if Lufy's bounty jumps to the territory of Big Mom and Kaidou of around 4.5 billion berries. But how much do you think the other Straw Hats will gain?

I really do find it fascinating that we've never had any on-panel verification of "eat two and you explode." Nearly twenty years now since that bit of exposition first dropped...

Kaido would probably want a better suicide is my guess. Honestly the introduction attempt does feel kinda odd in hindsight? Like sure dropping from a Sky Island is pretty metal but it's kinda silent. Kaido wants a meaningful death.
