I don't believe so. The best case scenario I think is just less overt homophobia/sexism, but not anything beyond that.

How did that Catherine thing turn out by the way? Have heard several people say it seems much less intentionally bigoted in context.

Peoples biggest problem was the thing involving the character from the original.

Rin fits the Kaworu archetype, but is more feminine than the usual depictions that are already pretty androgynous(but still more masculine than Shinji!)

Has it been released in english? I know one of the V As said there was plans to improve it in translation.

At best, Catherine made absolutely no effort to improve on anything.

It tried, but then tripped, stumbled backwards down a flight of stars, sending it directly into a stretcher that slams headfirst into an ambulance that drives backwards full speed to a Hospital only to crash into a train on the way.

I find it interesting how a botched pro-tolerance message (Green Book, Uncanny Avengers, take-your-pick of Save Our Students and "let the black guy onto the sports team" movies, etc.) can often produce at least as big a backlash as an intentionally reactionary one.

And because its a game, I don't intend on taking it seriously when I plan to play the game again later this year.

And because of how Japanese society works, complaining about it does nothing unless you are Japanese in Japan and specifically address the issue to the creators. Otherwise they just wont try and instead chug out the same thing they always do with a new coat of paint.

So enjoy the gay guys like the two in P5 again in P6!

The director changed so it's not unlikely that there will be some difference in progressive-ness. It's not like Japan is a monolith in terms of beliefs.

Edit: For P6 I mean. I don't expect them to bother rewriting P5 any more than necessary.

I'm kinda hoping with a director change and any further changes they might try newer things in the next installment.

Be more ambitious.

I fully expect them to just keep doing more of the same because that's what makes money.

I don't think there's an executive sitting over their shoulders going "add more homophobic jokes, that's where the money is." It's not like every single Atlus game has homophobic jokes in it. More likely they don't care about it one way or another, and therefore a change in director can easily have a big impact.

I mean, that's not the "core Persona experience" they'd care about replicating.

Basically. That's why I said the best case scenario is the new director feels less inclined to put in homophobic/transphobic/sexist content, but probably not much beyond that.

Kaworu archetype? So like N Harmonia or Nagito Komaeda?

I was thinking more Alcor/Anguished One and Kaworu. Once you know Rins origins.

DX 2 at least has Ririn in its cast as an actual lesbian character. I mean, it's a little easy to go for girly girl likes other girly girls, but there's something there at least.

Tbf she crushes hard on Bayonetta and Jeanne too. Who are all bout that BDSM.

I mean, any het guy or girl with an interest in the same sex would be hard pressed not to.

Can't believe they couldn't find a good way to keep Akechi around, so he had to be replaced.

Top left is apparently human Morgana.

So, looking at the PV, gameplay-wise there seems to be expanded dungeons, Futaba's All-Out Attack and combination attacks between party members. And of course, the new girl as a nee party member.

They're also showing off the grappling hook so much for some reason.

So Akechi got replaced outright? Or is he still in the game? Either way, new girl syndrome is likely to take root...
