http://twitter.com/raydere | http://raydere.tumblr.comI watched a top-scoring video of DaiFukkatsu 1.51.
Only slightly less retarded than Arrange B. You bomb boss lasers to milk hundreds of billions, if not trillions of points. This includes forgoing a 1-ALL to milk Hibachi's last pattern.
http://twitter.com/raydere | http://raydere.tumblr.comGoddamn I love Recca. It hurts so good.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Fridge Horror: To most players, all CAVE games are the same; the only differences are superficial (graphics and sound).
http://twitter.com/raydere | http://raydere.tumblr.comIt's been out of the fridge for a long time, actually, especially in their vertical series (for horizontal series, Akai Katana is similar to Death Smiles with Progear being the odd one). Of course, most players don't even know CAVE at all.
Graphical style, sound style, and a few gameplay changes are kinda important for any game? It makes the difference between Mario and Sonic, Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden, Resident Evil 4 and Dead Space, and on and on.
Or to use a CAVE example, the difference between feeling like you are awesome and are destroying a bunch of futuristic robotic military stuff, and feeling like you are a punk teenager who stomps on people's tables and murders everyone in a shopping mall.
EDIT: Even games in the same franchise feel quite a bit different, compare Mushihime-sama with Mushihime-sama Futari

On a somewhat different note, the aforementioned 1.51 bullshit. Note that the player could've finished off Hibachi if he wanted to, but instead stuck around to drink jugs of boss milk.

http://twitter.com/raydere | http://raydere.tumblr.comUm, hello. I'm an indie developer and I've made a game. It's actually closer to Touhou, so I didn't know if this went here or there. Same mechanics, but with things like ships.
Here is the TvTropes page for it.
Sorry for the self-plug, but it didn't seem as though anyone was checking it out.
I make video games. They're not the most interesting video games, but they're video games nonetheless.I can't wait to try out EVR!
What profit is it to a man, when he gains his money, but loses his internet? Anonymous 16:26 I believe...Cho Ren Sha 68K — Stage 3-0◊. New record after six years.
Still not ready to 2-loop it all the way though. Especially since stage select practice is kind of a crapshoot due to it starting you off with shitastic firepower.
Replay for anyone who cares. Back up your DEMO.REP file, overwrite it with this one, then let the game sit at the attract screen for a bit to start the replay.

Shutdown sequence initiated.*sheds a flow of Manly Tears*
This is it guys and girls. The last stop on this train
It's Dodonpachi 'Greatest Departure'.....
What profit is it to a man, when he gains his money, but loses his internet? Anonymous 16:26 I believe...I guess we're playing as Elemental Dolls... But still, blowing up ships with other ships is pretty fun. Also, different costumes are there, depending on what you choose in terms of power.
Hm... I may look forward to that game, but I'm busy with other Shmups right now... And then there's the new Shmup Siter Skain is creating, and the makers of Ether Vapor is making Astebreed...
The eXceed 2nd High Score Contest is going on right now.

Shutdown sequence initiated. In other news, Akai Katana is getting a North America release.
Shutdown sequence initiated.YES. This calls for a celebration.
Exceed series is out, after a month of delay. No Steam release date announced for now, but...
Awesome stuff. (b'-')b

"Suffer a vicious person and you will fear vice. Suffer a virtuous one and you will soon loathe virtue itself." Tony DuvertTried out Sine Mora, it feels a lot like Einhander for some reason except without the whole hand-weapon-thing. Most of the difficulty comes from sudden waves of bullets that you don't expect.
Also ordered the Muchi Muchi Pork / Pink Sweets double-pack, and for only $80 no less. Shoulda bought it when it was still $60 a long time ago.
Watching videos of DDP SaiDaiOuJou is nuts. Pro players are struggling just to 1-CC it, and they even turn on autobomb. But the new soundtrack is AWESOME

Cave should really stop making 'too damn hard' games. The SHMUP genre has very rare gateways as it is. Making the gate higher will only bury the genre faster
What profit is it to a man, when he gains his money, but loses his internet? Anonymous 16:26 I believe...Cave is just plain branching into other genres entirely - and making them too damn hard too.
Although they're now aggressively pursuing the iOS and putting novice modes in all of their ports.
When i play a shoot em up, i usually forget the name of the game... I just love counting the amount of times i lose.
If you wanna PM me, send it to my mrsunshinesprinkles account; this one is blorked.I'd love if Konami resumed the franchise of Parodius. It was so funny!
Hell yeah!
What profit is it to a man, when he gains his money, but loses his internet? Anonymous 16:26 I believe...
Worse than the Gradius 3 meteors stage?
