Astonishingly for a day with a predicted astronomic event I'd really like to see (The possible meteor shower tonight) the skies are delightfully clear.

You didn't really miss much. It was singularly unimpressive a meteor showers go. More like a meteor annoying drip. I was out for about an hour and a quarter at what was supposed to be the peak time and saw four.

It was too hot. It was supposed to rain but it didn't.
This is the time of the year when it changes from pleasantly sunny to gruelingly hot.

What California are you talking about? The one I remember never changed at all...except in September. The only thing Summer used to mean was no rain.
Anyway, lotsa on and off rain patches here...but gruelingly humid and hot,can't wait to be back in the dry land for a bit.
