At least the hackers have probably moved on from the PC version. Probably wouldn't be an exaggeration to say they chased away a good portion of the fanbase when they started screwing up all the matches.

Sadly, those hacking exploits probably still work since there's supposedly little to no anti-cheat protection, and Japanese companies aren't known for prioritizing those sorts of issues.

That's disappointing. Here i was thinking wow maybe i am a good pilot! I was shooting down the weird forward swept wing DLC planes from my current gen fighter and having a good time. Ps 5 play humbled me out of that idea -_-

New DLC is out, and the game and previous DL Cs are heavily discounted on Steam until Friday.

Nope. No console tech newer than 20 years ago and no PC tech better than what was considered low-end 5 years ago.

I am digging this design they made for the anniversary. Took me a moment to find all the different insignia, but they're there - even Antares!

Ace Combat Symphony is happening. Probably just Japan only sadly, but hey, maybe there will be an album release!

We might be seeing a new Ace Combat title in the future, and it will created using Unreal Engine 5!

PROJECT ACES new project started

According to what I heard in the last few days, it's apparently not going to be a sequel, but something new.

Seems like I missed this trailer from a couple of days back. It's not much, though; we're getting a Japanese Air Self Defense Force (JASDF) DLC which is merely a few skins and a couple of soundtracks from the older games being added into multiplayer and - more importantly - only two more content updates for AC 7 lie beyond this one. Not a bad run, all things considered.

Another DLC, this time including yet another upgrade of aircraft, skins and emblems in the game. This includes the F/A-18F Super Hornet Block III, the F-2A Super Kai, and the Mi G 35D Super Fulcrum. Not that interesting of a DLC, honestly; was hoping we'd see that Chinese stealth fighter or some other exotic design appear.

The one that looks exactly like the canceled Israeli design?

Project Aces is adding in a few Top Gun: Maverick themed skins and new planes. We know about two of them already due to being in the film (F/A-18E Super Hornet and F 14 A Tomcat), but we might be seeing a 3rd mystery plane. Some folks think it might be a variant of the SU-57 Felon (which is weird yet possible, since they already have a playable version in-game) or maybe that supposed new Darkstar drone fighter.

The DLC will release on the same day of the film reaching theaters on May 26th.

So apparently not only was the SU-57 added in, but they also included the friggin Darkstar drone!

Anyone know what's the motive behind the New Russian Federation coup d'etat attempt in Assault Horizon? Like, what's their beef with the incumbent government?

From what I remember, it was very much an excuse plot with little motivation given other than the typical "USA IZ KEEPING RUSSIANS DOWN BY BEING ONE WORLD ORDER, MOTHER RUSSIA SHALL RISE AGAIN AND BECOME STRONK!!11" sort of stuff you usually see in media.

It starts off with a renegade Russian faction supplying African warlords with modern weaponry, including a particularly powerful fuel air bomb, followed by an outright revolt overthrowing the legitimate Russian government about halfway through the plot. The legit government eventually regrets siding with the renegades, only to have their leader executed by said renegades, who proceed to try and attack the American Mainland with the fuel air bombs. Oh, and there's a traitor in the ranks of the UN strikeforce, whom you battle in the middle of a hurricane in the Atlantic.

Correction: The main leader of the NRF (Stagleishov) regrets having started the rebellion because it cost Russia too many lives and it's proven unpopular, ordering the NRF forces under his command to surrender, only for Markov to executed him and lead the NRF remnant that refused to surrender to exact his revenge plot.

And I think calling what Assault Horizon has an Excuse Plot is generous, because IIRC there was no actual explanation for why the NRF was rebelling. They could've at least given some sort of understandable goal, like the Ultranationalists from the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare trilogy wanting to restore the glory of the Soviet Union days (unknown whether they have any communist/socialist leanings) and undo the "corruption" that came with Russia's apparent shift to the Western world. Simple and plausible, isn't it?

Assault Horizon's plot kinda already was a copy of the Modern Warfare trilogy. I mean, hell, the game's sudden swerve to a real-world gritty look was BECAUSE of the COD franchise and it's massive popularity.

Seriously, I'm surprised Bamco never thought of just contacting Activision, saying "Hey, wanna tie our game universes together for the sake of increased brand recognition and sales?", title it "Call of Duty: Ace Combat," and then proceed to make unholy amounts of money. You'd just need to change a few plot details, so then everything introduced in Assault Horizon, including some of the missions, could take place in the Modern Warfare trilogy without a hitch. It's THAT similar.
