Wanna see another absolute madlad? Behold, the 52 second Cape Rainy Run.

He flew faster than a railgun slug in mid-air, maneuvered straight through the supports of a bridge, stood just barely below the 600 meter height limit, reaches the base within a minute... and then face-plants straight into a transport craft.

Priceless tongue

Wow, that was pretty nuts.

Speaking of the MGP. A freaking 80k MRP run on the first mission on easy.

Starting to get sick of the AC 5 missions that force you to use the previous plane you flew up in. Trying to use a Mi G-31 to defend against those war criminals trying to massacre an airport is a pain.

So I finally played that "one mission" The fuck off annoying one where random SAM sites start popping up out of nowhere to do long-range missile volleys at the cargo craft. Made even more annoying by enemy fighters and the boss fight. Seriously, fuck the super drone and fuck that level.

There's worse coming up, after the Siege of Farbanti. Enjoy having to ID friendlies and enemies at near point-blank range, and in an escort mission too!

No, I think the Wild Weasel mission was much worse.

I never found mission 10 that bad; you just have to scan for missile contrails visually and follow them back to the launchers. After a few runs you'll start to remember where they are.

The 2nd half of mission 8 hunting for trucks in the sandstorm is way worse in my opinion.

I couldn't see the fucking missile trails against the clouds. Or the Gripens would fuck me instead.

The wild weasel mission is easy once you realize that the SAM sites are in a simple 3x3 grid. I was able to smash them fast enough with just machine guns to spawn the ace.

Thankfully the long-range cruise missiles helped me swat them and shift targets rapidly. The fighters weren't hard, just damn annoying when I was tracking SAM's.

[up]Balmug I think that's because you're super-human or something, because aiming with the machinegun in this game somehow feels far more difficult than I remember it being in AC 6. Bad enough to the point where my campaign stats would probably still show my MG kills being in the double digits, whereas my missile and special weapon kills are probably close to a thousand.

But yeah, that tip about following the missile contrails is solid. Helps too that the missiles don't randomly spawn; they're all in pre-set locations, and that Gripen squadron doesn't appear until you destroy a certain amount of them.

Gun is not difficult, honestly.

Has anyone taken a moment to appreciate just how incredibly fast tanks and ships are in Ace Combat? I've seen Erusean tanks doing about 180 knots and warships easily setting speed records. Just what the hell is in Strangereal's fuel?
EDIT: Dear god I love EML in MP. It's sickeningly powerful, but since I don't actually have any of the massively powerful MP parts and I'm a decent shot, it does wonders at helping me actually pull out wins.

Speaking of multiplayer, I'm beginning to notice that the F-16 is oddly powerful for its tier. I recently managed to out match the F-22 and Su-47 in TDM, and in another Battle Royale match somehow managed to come in 1st place with that jet.

In terms of stats, it doesn't stall easily, you can put a ton of expensive upgrades in it due to being the cheapest aircraft to field, and those special flak missiles it fires are unusually effective at finishing off crippled targets. It's not without downsides though - you don't have much in the way of hit points, your top speed is merely average, and the other special weapon, the 4AAM, kinda sucks.

How does this game compare to 0

Wish the multiplayer had taken a lesson or two from Ace Combat: Infinity. Having a PvE mode where two teams compete to kill more AI targets than the other would've been neat. Or maybe a mode that gave more of a reason to use the Attack and Multi-role aircraft, say one that gives both teams a fortified base on the map that must be destroyed/defended.

That, and heavily restrict the gear used in multiplayer, because being chased around by missiles that can somehow loop around back towards me THREE TIMES IN A ROW makes it damn near impossible to dogfight.

Well, I'm up to White Bird (Part 2) now. Damn, do the black paint jobs look really nice on the high-end and specialized planes, even for a PS 2 game.

I'm also a bad person, when Chopper died my first thought was "Damn, it should have been Edge instead."

Goodbye to the only person with any character development. Everyone else is a static character.

I resent Edge for all her whining, but mostly for getting shot down in the most moronic way possible and then making the rest of us do White Noise.

At least Grimm is mostly just meh, and Swordsman is cool enough I suppose.

I mean, with Steve Blum out of the plot, my favorite character is the dog now.

Lol.

I hated Snow Blind as well. Superweapon missions though are always the best ones.

White Noise might be annoying, but I will never forgive Pops for wasting so much of our time on Final Option. His lackadaisical pace even ruins the atmosphere of the mission.
