Really wish the the swirl got flipped during the Poliwhirl to Poliwrath evolution instead of the Poliwag to Poliwhirl one. Like, as it stands, Poliwhirl and Poilwrath are way more similar in appearance than Poliwag and Ploiwhirl are.

Poliwhirl has also lost the tadpole mouth, so I suppose the change is due to tadpoles rearranging a bit their digestive tract when they switch diets as part of the metamorphosis.
Anyway, we already have Johtonian Poliwrath, and an entire Unovan Poliwag line, bwahaha
Thought experiment: You can make an ability that makes a pokemon immune to two entire types, but that pokemon has to already at least resist both types.
What type combinations would benefit the most from this double-immunity? I'm thinking maybe a water type being immune to water and fire, possibly?
Rock immune to Fire and Poison. Can't get Burned or Poisoned.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyGhost-type with an ability granting immunity to Normal and Fighting moves.
It can hang out with Fan Rotom and its double immunity to Ground.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I thought Poliwag's mouth was a nose until X and Y were released.
I wonder which would be better for balance overall, and which would make more logical sense:
- Poison is SE against Normal
- Bug is no longer resisted by Fairy
I feel like if Poison gets new offensive utility it should be against WATER instead given how solid a type that is. But yes remove Fairy's pointless bug resistance. Bugs do not need to be weaker than they are GF!
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Bug should just be SE against Fairy.
And I'm totally down for Poison being SE against Water.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?I'm asking for arguments for one of the other of the two listed.
And I'm not making Bug SE against Fairy. And I already suggested Poison be SE against Water.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyThe Poliwhirl regional form comment reminded me, years ago, r/pokemon had a contest/event where people made Kantonian forms for Gen 7 Pokémon. The only one I remember was Grass/Poison Lurantis, but I liked the concept.
"Grass/Poison Lurantis"
So Tangela can continue to be the only pure Grass type in Kanto?
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI thought up a regional variant for Mimikyu, which is a Ghost/Fighting type based off the Fresno Nightcrawler.
DAMMIT MARK, STOP HOTTING HELPY!!You say that like you have any actual control over future balance changes Game Freak might make.
I don't see why it'd be an issue. Bug is an incredibly weak STAB and Fairy is quite powerful. Giving Fairy a weakness to a lesser type wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?I say that like I'm the one who asked the question.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyYeah I don't like bug being SE against fairy either.
x2
So? You asked how others would buff the Bug type and what idea they thought made more sense. Just because you wouldn't make Bug super effective against Fairy doesn't mean others aren't allowed to in their hypothetical buffs.
My question was which of two specific ideas I was floating would be better for balance overall. If someone's going to suggest something outside of those parameters, it's just not something I'd do in the question asked.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI'd honestly be okay with reinstating the Gen 1 weirdery that was Poison and Bug being mutually super effective against each other. I actually liked that.
I'm having to learn to pay the priceTPC will no longer be doing Pokken tournaments after Worlds 2022 is over.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love." POKKEN 2, BABY!
I WISH. Someone mentioned how good the Galarian starters would be in Pokken forma and yeah they totally seem like a natural fit.
Pokken was so much fun, especially since they werent afraid of odderball picks. Unite also has a nice varied cast so I hope in the future there is Hope for Pokken players. I would have loved to see my man Bewear in a fighting game proper, probably with homages to Kuma/Panda.
If they do make a Pokken 2, I want a fighter that seems outright impossible, even with how far the previous game pushed the limits of who can be playable. Something like Steelix.
But as far as I know, Pokken 2 isn't happening. Harada directly addressed the idea of a Pokken 2 in January 2021, and he basically said "I'd like to make a sequel, but it's not up to me, it's up to The Pokemon Company", which pretty clearly implies that a sequel is not in the works.
I think I read somewhere that Poliwhirl was Tajiri's favorite Pokémon, which would explain that.
