I think Infernape fits the Super Saiyan 4 look the best.

Getting back to VGC. It is really tougher than DOU.

... I'm kinda conflicted on uploading this replay, but here goes nothing.

This is a clearly a battle doesn't favor my opponent. Intimidate lead versus a Competitive lead plus having multiple Pokemon weak to water-type isn't exactly an ideal battle, sorry about that mess.

So if we got a tardigrade Pokemon, could its bear-like qualities be played up to create our first-ever Bug/Normal type?

Tardigrades are not bears. They don't even resemble or function like bears.

I think that has to do with its alternate name being Waterbear. Seems more fitting for it to be a Bug/Water though.

[up][up]I know what they are.

They actually are originally named for bears, though, due to their resemblance and similar gait.

I just thought it could be a neat pun/excuse for a Bug/Normal type, hence why I said "played up" the bear traits. As in creating a fictional species design based off of both tardigrades and bears, instead of just scaling up a tardigrade and calling it a day.

...Are tardigrades associated with bears at all Japan? Or did that not translate?

Does the pun work in Japanese though? Same reason people thought Yanmega should be part Dragon.

Water bears are called Kumamushi, literally "bear bugs", in Japanese. So a connection to bears would translate.

In fact, considering their microscopic size and time of discovery it's likely Japan would have learned about them through imported European textbooks, which makes it likely the Japanese name was taken from the English or German name in the first place, like some other animals.

Yeah, I figured that would be the case given their time of discovery.

Thanks! Now I just need to get a job at GameFreak.

Speaking of bugs, I am disappointed that there is no Alolan Heracross to go with Vikavolt.

Also, I think they kind of resemble bears. They have the same kind of general body shape and proportions, just with two extra pairs of legs.

I've asked this before, but I've been pondering the differences between characters with Psychic powers and those who use Aura.

While the two abilities seemed to obviously stem from different sources (an external energy that flows through everything vs internal power of the mind), they seem to grant some similar abilities: sensing the thoughts of others (psychics) vs feeling the emotions of other beings (Aura) though that may not be a totally accurate assessment of their full abilities.

Has there ever been a real difference established between them?

One is linked with the Fighting Type while the other is linked with the Psychic Type. I suppose that indicates that Aura is like Ki, something you can train your body to harness, while Psychic abilities are based on the brain.

TL;DR Mewtwo has been straight heat in every gen, always gaining new options in order to adapt to new mons and metagame situations.

I'm not interested in Uber Pokemon.

On the plus side. VGC 2018 is going to end soon, so hopefully we will get Gen VII meta.

That's a good analysis in the difference between Aura and Psychic abilities.

Speaking of History of Mewtwo, in Doubles Ubers, regular Mewtwo is used more than its mega forms not just to save mega slots for stuff like Mega Rayquaza or Mega Kangaskhan, but also having a valuable ability in the form of Unnerve. Prevents several Pokemon that sometimes do rely on berries such as Magearna and Jirachi, potentially netting some KO before they could consume it. Its common partner there is Tapu Lele, which summons Psychic Terrain for increased firepower and gaining priority immunity.

Here the image for Single's tier shift and here's the glorious image for Doubles' tier shift.
