Actually, Amoonguss has a relatively high usage in VGC 18. It can still spore anything that's not grounded and Tapu Lele can override terrains that prevents sleep. Amoonguss also has a redirection move in Rage Powder.
As for the article, I do not think it's a good article even though I'm no VGC expert. As a general thumb of rule, only Pokemon that gains STAB from Ground-type move uses Earthquake in Doubles. The OP mentions Earthquake for Tyranitar and Metagross when they do not run this move. Tyranitar doesn't hold Assault Vest in Doubles since it would lose Protect and Dragon Dance. Metagross does not go for Meteor Mash in Doubles, preferring Iron Head for 100% accuracy instead. And they didn't mention anything about Calm Mind for Tapu Fini when it is a popular option. Sometimes, I just have to wonder if OP did take a deep look at Pikalytic or not.
OP also makes a mistake by treating Fighting-types as major threats (aside from Kommo-O) when they have since phased out in Gen 7 Doubles, which I mentioned multiple times before. Yes, there's Fighting-type moves to be cautious with as most Pokemon can learn it, but that's beside the point. Also, that post is rather opinion-based, but that's just a minor nitpick.

Amoonguss just won the North American title. 5 out of 8 Top Cut teams has Amoonguss, which is the second highest after Landorus-T (Tapu Fini and Incineroar are the second most popular overall though).

The first link. Lately Tapus beside Koko get top usage in VGC. Or is it solely going for "it appeared in VGC"? There's a twitter account that always lists VGC use through CP (forgot the name though), I find that more reliable.
