Okay, hopefully this character will be better then my first.

  • Name: Weed Marker
  • Species: Poolern
  • Species notes (Physical): The Poolern are a penguin-like race. The main difference between them and penguins is that they have large toothless mouths and only one eye.
  • Species notes (Cultural): The Poolern had always feared the idea of invasion from another alien race, so to protect themselves they made many defensive structures and battle cruisers. But even with all their weaponry they were no match for the Alternian Empire.
  • Character Notes: Weed was a cook on the Poolern's world. Unlike the rest of his species he really didn't think much about "The dangerous off-worlders" he just really wanted to do his work in peace. When the Alernian's invaded he was sent aboard one of the Poolern's largest battle cruisers, one that the Poolern believe could keep up a fight against the Alternian's for at least a few days, to cook for the troops. However the Poolern severely underestimated the Alternian and their cruiser was defeated in a few hours. When Weed realized that defeat was inevitable he rushed towards the escape pods and fled the ship.
  • Clustercom Name: exoticRoaster

Okay, Steelman, even though that character isn't made of OVER NINE THOUSAND cliches like the last one, we still have doubts as to how well you can actually RP.

SO

We need you to write up a mock RP post and put it into tinypaste, then post the link to it here, so we can judge how well you can RP. We might also have you do a mock IM convo, since that's a significant chunk of the RPing in these RPs.

Your mock post is riddled with problems general and specific. To refer to it as "lackluster" would be extremely generous. In short, I am afraid you have failed to sufficiently exceed your reputation.

What you've got is not technically wrong, but the term for the dwellings of people on the Cluster would be "cells". Like monastery cells, not like prison cells, though prison cells are an accurate metaphor in some senses.

To clarify a little further, as I have it, the layout is as follows, modified according to the needs of each race:

Each station has three sectors used by everyday citizens, a COMMORANT SECTOR, where their cells are located, a COMMUNAL SECTOR, where they interact personally, a COMMERCIAL SECTOR, where they buy and sell things. Additional sectors are for utilitarian purposes, such as connective sectors that go from one station to adjacent stations, or for specific personnel, such as maintenance sectors and production sectors. Production sectors must be very carefully guarded, as they supply practically all vital materials.

The hub station has a slightly different layout. For starters, it is larger than the rest. This is because in addition to having to include connective sectors leading to all of the other stations, it also contains the COMMAND SECTOR, the seat of the senate that governs the Cluster. It also contains the largest production sector, designed specifically to be able to support multiple stations in case of failures in their own production sectors...

Oh okay. I was wondering, seeing as it's sort of a running joke that characters weaponize their captchalogue systems, could my captchalogue deck be my strife specibus? Like, no weapon-based combat, but Induxil can pick stuff up and eject other stuff at high velocity?

Well, I mean you could, but it'd just be some sort of bizarre voluntary restriction he places on himself or something, because there's nothing stopping anyone from allocating an abstratus.

I should go back and add this to the first post.

I'm still waiting for three profiles; an amended profile from Mr. Always, a profile from co-GM Teebert (should be up tomorrow, I hope), and one from Perseus, whose species is actually tied into the very history of the Cluster. We'd have to wait for Teebert even if his profile weren't going up tomorrow, but since Always has shown no indication of progress and Perseus had his progress wiped out by his computer dying, we might have to go on without one or both of them.

  • Character Name: Gorruh vr Rul rr Ulus rr Rwull "Rwull"
  • Player: Teebert
  • Species Name: Rlr
  • Species Details (Biological/Physical): Somewhere between earth's "lizards" and "birds". Where an individual falls between the two, biologically, depends on what caste you belong to, or at least what your parents' castes were. Almost all the castes are warm-blooded, with only one cold-blooded caste left. (A cause of cultural conflict, detailed in the following section) Most have leathery skin with varying degrees of scaling. Light feathering is growing more common as in-breeding among the castes has increased. Common features to all castes include: Sharp teeth, two arms, two legs, two eyes, four digits on each limb, claws made of calcified proteins on each digit, and a short protrusion of the spine from the rear of the body, they all hatch from eggs which are laid in groups of 1 to 3.
  • Species Details (Cultural, pre-Alternian conquest): Rlr society was made of a caste system. Each caste, save the prophet/priest caste, consisted solely of a single subspecies of Rlr. Members of each caste made up an individual community, with several of these communities scattered across the twilight band of their homeworld. (Their homeworld did not rotate, thus, half was scorched and dry, the other half without light and significantly less heat. Only a band across the middle was habitable) Each caste served a function in the community. These communities were only semi-permanent, moving every few rotations, save for a few permanent communities by the sides of the the seas. The Rlr have a nontheistic religion, instead believing in a concept of fate and destiny. They believe, in short, that everything that happens is supposed to happen. Nothing that occurs is not supposed to occur. Everything is following a sort of script. (It was still possible for them to have sets of laws, their reasoning being that if one was destined to break that law, they were also destined to be punished. If, say, you found yourself killing your neighbor, simply arguing "I was destined to!" would not keep you from being required to provide some sort of compensation) The prophet caste is made of individuals from various subspecies that have some amount of clairvoyance. The strength of the clairvoyance varies, with most being able to only see vague hints of the future or tiny details of the near future. The Rlr were also a low-tech society, with the more developed areas being around a bronze age, and the lesser developed communities being in between a stone age and a bronze age.
  • Species Details (Cultural, post-Alternian conqest): After the conquest of the Rlr homeworld by the Alternian Empire, a sizable group of refugees made of individuals of several castes managed to escape and find refuge on the Cluster. Notable changes to their culture were cases of caste interbreeding rising significantly in number and the reduced necessity of various caste roles, with only the prophet caste actually remaining as it once was. The mixing of castes came about as the simultaneous rise of family units among the Rlr. (Previously, the children were raised communally, with the "nurture" caste raising them until a certain age, at which point they were moved to be with their own caste, where they were raised and educated in the ways of that caste. However, with the mixing of caste duties early in the Rlr's move to the Cluster, there was no one caste simply for raising the children Rlr, and recently mixed-caste education has come up as a topic of debate, with the argument that soon the subspecies will cease to truly exist) There exist among the Rlr two distinct political groups, those who encourage the modernization of the species (readily accepting new technologies and sciences, encouraging inter-caste breeding) and those who favor a slower approach to integration with Cluster technologies and a preservation of pre-conquest Rlr culture (This group is a dwindling minority, with the largest chunk of it being members of the sole cold-blooded subspecies, which is largely incapable of breeding with other castes, with only about 20% of such unions producing living offspring, of whom only about 60% survive infancy)
  • Character Details: Rwull is the son of a member of the scout and hunter castes. His head is fairly typical for the hunter caste (Think raptors), but the back is slightly elongated with a crest, and the front of the snout is bonier, both the results of scout caste parentage. He has skin-wings which allow him to glide for short periods of time, another result of scout-caste parentage, however, unlike a pure-bred scout, he cannot actually fly. (The skin is attached from his elongated pinky digit, which has both an extra joint and bends at the base in a different direction from the other fingers, to his shins. There is a thin but strong layer of muscle inside the skin of the wings, which relaxes and contracts in a manner that for the most part prevents the wings from interfering with his movement when he is not gliding or otherwise using the wings) His arms are also disproportionately longer than the arms of a pure-bred hunter, but his legs remain proportionately consistent with the rest of his otherwise hunter-proportioned body. He also possesses keen senses, with his eyesight being a trait from both parents, and his hearing and scent from his hunter parentage. (They are not, however, as strong as a pure hunter's hearing and scent) His voice is fairly deep and guttural compared to other species, but is in fact fairly high for an Rlr. (Another wonderful contribution of his scout ancestry) Personality-wise, he is like many others of his species: patient and hard to disturb. However, due to the younger generations' contact and interactions with other species' cultures growing up, he, like many other young Rlr, are far more impatient than their elders, more so than the usual difference between the young and the old. His interests and hobbies include the studies of various species' philosophies and religions, Kracing (A combination of the words "crowd" and "racing", it is a popular activity among young Rlr and other species on the Cluster, it involves making it through inhabited as fast as possible, whether through skilled weaving or use of detours such as maintenance tunnels. Somewhat comparable to parkour, just with a lot less jumping), and he has a minor interest in sculpting pottery.
  • Screenname: scalyMessiah ("Messiah" is a bit of nonsense Rwull typed out after spending half an hour trying to come up with a username only to find out someone had already taken it.)
  • Sburb Title: Ranger of Impact
  • Land: Land of Rust and Bone.
  • Strife Specibus: Dartkind.
  • Fetch Modus: Satchel Modus. Rwull stores his captcha cards inside a hand-made leather satchel. The original satchel was a gift from his parents, and he had it crafted into a modus so he could take advantage of modern sylladex technologies, without rudely refusing his parents' gift. This custom modus cost quite a bit, and he had to take a job as an errand boy to pay for it.

Added Induxil's Captchalogue, Specibus, Land, and Title, taken from the random generator.

My defense for him having an esoteric Fetch Modus and rather advanced/borderline metaphysical strife specibus is the Enmth's extremely advanced and moreover scientifically innovative culture.

Well, sorry this took so long...

Name: Tachran Phius
Species: Galvar
Species Notes: Highly advanced, fully sapient robotic humanoids. Original creators unknown. Their minds are linked by a mass-scale wireless network, used to share knowledge and coordinate group efforts. They are not a true hive mind, however, as they all possess individuality and can deem aspects of their mind off-limits. They were ruled by the three oldest and most knowledgeable members of their species, known as the 'Administrators', but only the second, Betria, survived the Alternian assault. While they possessed powerful weaponry, they were overrun by the trolls through sheer force of numbers. The escapees from the occupied homeworld created what is now known as the Cluster's hub station.
Character Notes: Extremely tech-savvy, like all of his kind. Has a fairly pleasant disposition, but both his patience and temper can be rather short. An avid video gamer, dabbles in game design and programming in his spare time.

Strife Specibus: ?

  • Name: Denneik Eirev-Gahr

  • Species: Thunpanyo

  • Useful physical and cultural notes on that species: Thunpanyo are heavy-set, short creatures from a high-gravity world. They have a centaur-like body, with eight legs and six arms, and a long, thick tail. Their upper torsos are vaguely triangular. This whole mess is covered almost exclusively in hard scales, except the soft underbelly, which is almost never exposed.

Their heads are vaguely oval-shaped, and their eyes are set in the front of their head, and have a vaguely amber-like colour. Their ears are largely rudimentary, as their primary senses are their sight and smell, both of which are quite advanced indeed. This tends to make them A LITTLE LOUD in conversation, and gives them the added handicap of not being stealthy at all. Not that a thunpanyo would ever dream of a sneak attack, oh, no. They have a stumpy snout with a pronounced underbite. Their lower teeth are much larger than their upper ones, and consist primarily of canids and incissors, because they are largely carnivores. A general compliment used when a male is talking about another male is "he bites well, and he bites hard".

Their culture, although formerly split up into tribes (before the tr0ll attacks), universally revolves around honour in combat and a great deal of respect towards others. Their social castes are very simple. Each tribe has a leader. His judgement is final. He has two underchiefs. Their judgement is also final, although it can be overruled by the leader. The underchiefs tend to be female and vying for the love of the leader, who is almost exclusively male.

All other tribe-members are equal, although females have first dibs when it comes to food. Thunpanyo males routinely starve themselves to let the females eat more, and also to hone their own discipline. They are equal in sizes, although the males are a darker shade of brown and the females usually have bigger claws.

Their world was very poor in any sort of usable ore, so they resorted to a different method of producing their weapons: their scales. A thunpanyo sword or other bladed weapon is made over the course of three motlings from the oldest male or female (depending on the gender of the recipient of the sword) in a family organization. This is why their swords take quite a long while to make, as thunpanyo moltings only occur every fifty Dhuhumudan (Dhumuda being their former homeplanet, meaning "home", very imaginatively) years. They can live up to two thousand Dhumudan solar orbits, roughly equivalent to eight hundred earth years.

Naming conventions are as follows: individual first name, combination of family names of both parents to serve as last name(usually the first syllable of the mother's family name and the last syllable of the father's family name), clan name (attached to combined family names with a hyphen. So Denneik's name would, in full, be Denneik Eizhert Revannar Gahr. Gahr, here, means "iron (ga) bite (hr)".

  • Useful notes about the character specifically: Denneik was the son of an underchief (Kahda) and a warrior (Dennekyan, whose name his first name is derived from, "son of Dennekyan"). He was well on his way to being a good warrior when the trolls struck. The thunpanyo's technology level was woefully underdeveloped in comparison to the trolls' (they were just getting started on that whole "water pump" thing). How exactly most of the tribes got off of the planet is diverted - each tribe has a different story, ranging from "rescued by alien fleet that had established connections with us some generations prior" to "really good catapults" (jest).

Denneik is fiercely loyal and disciplined, spending a lot of his time practicing with his three ancestral swords. His sense of humour is a bit underdeveloped, but he is rather interested in other alien species.

He usually wears a vekh'ha (sling-under), which covers his underbelly. It is made of the tanned hides of a sort of smaller animal native to his former home planet (possibly reptillian, 'cuz it's made of green scales), adorned with feathers and beads. He has comparatively few scars for a warrior of his kind - two that stand out are across his face, which has partially blinded one eye (top left to bottom right, stopping just above the mouth, when facing him) and across the chest (a rather large, jagged one). He's also got three scabbards for his swords, made from the same sort of hides as the one his vekh'ha is made of.

He enjoys seafood, poetry, and interpretive dance.

  • Fetch Modus: (To be added later)

  • Strife Specibus: Triple sword kind.

  • Clustercom name: nuntupleMolting
