Is there anyway to delete the save? =/ I abandoned the fortress, and I would like to start from the beginning.

Just generate a new world. Or re... re... frak, I can't remember the word!

You can go back to the fortress with a squad or two of military instead.

If you mean revert it to the start... no.

Well yeah, I generated new world, but it still started in the first world =/ I guess I selected something wrong, but still.

Oh, seems like I found the places where region files are saved... Does something bad happen if I delete them? =/

Nothing bad happens if you delete them. They're just, you know, gone.

Ok... Thing is, I for some reason deleted my fortress without doing anything, so now there is random abandoned fortress in there =P I'd rather have my first fortress fail in less boring way XD

Anyway, thanks for answering...

@Funnyguts: Any ideas what? If I get around to sending another donation while this is still going I'll probably pick a cassowary.

Great a non-cavern elk bird like animal :P

After slicing off both its hands I wrestled a troll until it bled out I am a high master wrestler now. :3

I'm going for a komodo dragon. They're ridiculously fast for their size, their bite is essentially poisonous and they can drag people (and dorfs) around with ease.

Edit: Whoops, didn't realize I could already see the list, and notice that komodo dragons were not on there. I'm currently split between gila monsters and axlotls.

Komodo would be awesome.

My Grand Master Swords Man Is now also a grand master wrestler. I was wrestling bogey men. >:3 Again I mauled a bogey men by the head. Muahahahaha. I also broke ones arm with his friends arm. I had to HAND it to them they were tenacious. I need to rebuild my hero status it seems folks have already forgotten how freaking awesome I am as a hero. So I plan to splatter a few monsters and build up a large party get 4 levels of swimming and go back to the fort and PURGE IT ALL!

It was kinda like this.

Credit given in the entry, Hydrall.

Guinea pigs would make a nice addition, methinks.

Does anybody know how to transfer machinery power multiple z-levels? I seem to be having quite a bit of trouble. sad

I had the same trouble. You can build vertical axles, although I think that's only worth it when you're going multple levels. If you're just aiming for one z up, you can build gear assemblies on top of each other.

I am currently trying to go make that power go downwards, but I can't seem to connect the vertical axle with anything on the same level as the rest of my power generating stuff.

Edit: Wait a minute I have an idea. I'll be right back.

Any time an axle changes direction you need to place a gear. So if Your going from horizontal axel to vertical you need a gear between them. Or I could be wrong I would need to double check but I am at work.

Lol. Its sunday. Nothing to do and I am friggin bored.

Just remember each gear consumes quite a bit of power compared to the axles. For windmills this could lead to you building the structure in a way that the windmill is directly over the device you want to power but this is only really necessary in areas where wind mills generate very little power. I have yet to get a working water wheel :/

Yeah I tried doing that before Tuefel, but that didn't work.

Looking at the Screw Pump page for the eighth time I noticed some pictures overlooked. First I noticed this, and I was nodding to myself thinking that I've seen this before and that it does not work. However I realized something, the floors underneath the dark green squares are gone! Apparently the power goes down from the dark squares to the light squares when the floor is gone, thus powering multiple levels.

This shows the process step by step.

This shows one level from overhead.  *

Just felt like sharing it with you guys. grin

Plus the water wheels are generating 600 power and the "pumps / everything else" are using a little bit less than 200 power.

Nice. I know Windmills generate power below the windmill (this is fucking retarded) So I build a u shaped structure out of walls and if I have a lot of local power I drop in a gear under it and then hook it up. If I need more power I I build multiple units in line and hook them all up in a line. I know there is a way to make a dwarven "power generator" that involves pumping water from a dumping pond up a level to fall on the water wheel to start the whole thing. The water wheel(s) usually two or three are then hooked up to the pump so it forms a perpetual motion machine that can generate a lot of power.

I have been mulling over placing throwing spears/javelins as a mod and maybe some sort of siege weapon mod if possible. I know I want to figure out how to make a flame fougasse trap of some sort. Anyone know of any mods that add or change traps?

Actually, you can plug in and draw out power from either of the two tiles that a pump takes up, and from any direction. The reason the pump stack is channeled that way is because the dark tile doesn't let anything pass, so you cover up the power-transfer hole to prevent leakage.

To illustrate my point about powering in and out, the pump array I have for drawing water out of the aqueduct is 5 pumps adjacent to one another. All the power comes from a single axle hooked into the front of the array, right where the output water all goes.

Also, another thing, a dwarf manually pumping does not generate any power to connected things. That means no dwarf hamsters :(

Anyway, after all this playing with flow, I like to think I'm pretty good at pumps now. Not legendary or anything. Just somewhere past dabbling. maybe around adequate.

Remember my crazy epic fort of world war. I forgot to shut off the main pump for the feeder pool for the underground garden plots. I noticed I am slowly flooding the area until pressure equalizes or it freezes.

I have to channel down into my fort to get to the levers and shut it off because I did not make a lever to open the main gate outside.

Wait. Now that I think about it. I can drop inside from the over hang area near my trade depot. :D I can get in open the fort and shut off the pumps.
