Oh yeah, I forgot about that.
Not Three Laws compliant.Well, technically her answer contained the word 'no'.

All I know is, my gut says maybe. As a reader, this is funny.
As a Sandra/Cloud shipper, I demand this lady's head on a silver platter, in my office, yesterday.
I can't decide if I like this arc or not. The gags are pretty funny to me. I know that in the past there have been arcs that made me uncomfortable, until the end, where a final one or two comics ties it up nicely. The insulin arc is the most like this, along with the ketchup bottle series (in that it's the ending that's the point).
The strawman part is the problem. It's obviously over-the-top (satirical, I think), but in general strawmen bother me. Like someone said earlier, I'd like to see the end of this arc.
The problem here is that I don't see how the "strawman" can be avoided, because the argument is not against feminists themselves, but about people among them who are living strawmen (and therefore harm the cause of feminism). It's a Stop Being Stereotypical argument, therefore it can't be done without the stereotypes.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."You know what's kinda sad?
There are people in comments sections honestly thinking that Cloud is wrong here.
Saudi Arabia may somewhat disagree with her, politically.

Looks like we are wrapping up. Also, I knew Ye had dark past and was badass... but Jesus.
Also, I wonder what happened to her little sister.
Something tells me she won't go quietly. But I eagerly await whatever will happen.
Home, sweet home. And she is gone.

All I know is, my gut says maybe. You know who frightens me in that scenario? The husband. I know this entire storyline is over-the-top but I actually shuddered a little this morning reading that.
Yeah...he's way too blase about what she's talking about.
Not Three Laws compliant.Either he is so used to it he doesn't care, or he is brainwashed to fulyl believe in that stuff.
Not sure which one scares me more.
Also, she has a husband`?
Yeah, I was pretty surprised that she had one too.
I'm kind of surprised by the posts early on worried the strip was "going all Sinfest." My concern was the exact opposite... and I'd say it's been borne out, and then some. I'm reeling. It's like someone made a checklist of awful.
- Bell curve
- Thoughtcrime
- "Social construct"
- Exaggeration of consent lectures
- Contrasting with Muslim countries
- Blind spot for husband
- Effeminate, "henpecked" husband
- Ideological villainprobably comically murdered
I think I'll probably stick around, provided this theme ends with this arc, but I doubt I'll ever be able to think of the strip the same way again. (Or Gaia, for that matter - in fact, this arc might have colored my perception of Gaia even more than S&W.)

My posts make considerably more sense read in the voice of John Ratzenberger.Yeah to be perfectly honest, this is about the last arc I expected to come out of S&W.
I don't know what's gotten into Novil. It's as if Norman Lear, after years of communicating, via All in the Family, the stupidity of bigotry and intolerance, had suddenly decided one season to portray Archie Bunker as always right and Mike as a frothing-at-the-mouth, Communist enemy of America.
Maybe he thinks MRAs are a more lucrative market. Judging from the fandom response, in which every "Uh...dude? Feminism is not like that" comment on the site gets voted down while every "Kill the uppity bitch" comment gets voted up, you have to wonder.
Maybe he thinks he can make fun of feminist extremism as well as of other groups. As mentioned a bit above, he got quite a lot of spoofable topics into a few strips, and judging by the amount of drama in the english comments, I think he hit a mark.
The arc so far was a little disjointed, but I found it funny.
All I know is, my gut says maybe.Yeah, that made me a bit uncomfortable. Are the comments always like that?

blauregen: The problem is that the only things that even get close to "mocking feminist extremism" are the first strip (mocking those who put ideology above intellectual honesty, which is a thing, although his tack even then was eyebrow-raising) and the barely-glimpsed ATV in the background of Monday's (mocking Ishida). Other than that it's been either just plain silly (bathrooms, skirts, mass castration) or an exaggeration of something reasonable (affirmative consent). It's very hard to see it as mocking "feminist extremism" rather than feminism in general.
My posts make considerably more sense read in the voice of John Ratzenberger.I don't see much of a problem with parodying feminism in general either. In the end it is an ideological advocacy group, or rather a collection of those. To me it looks as if the public perception of feminism is significantly different to the one in feminist circles, and simply doesn't match the experience of a lot of people. Marxism had a similar problem. They coined terms like 'false consciousness' to maintain that people with a different world view are wrong. As a parodist, the author focuses on what is perceived, not on what feminists think about themselves.
In the comments one rather exasperated reader wrote that next there would be some black pimp, living from social checks and taking drugs. This is in my opinion a drastic category error. This would ridicule a possibly disadvantaged social class (Po C), while feminists are not a disadvantaged class, but one or more advocacy groups for a possibly disadvantaged social class (women).

All I know is, my gut says maybe.I agree with the arc's point, but murdering the character is not a good way to end it. Threats? Yeah, okay, and in-character for Ye Thuza, but murder takes it too far in that it sends the message that the only way to deal with people like this is to dispose of them completely, rather than having her taken down a notch or seven by a female character with a more reasonable worldview.
3DS Friend Code: 0018-0767-4231I'm still in "wait to see what happens" mode. I expect her to wake up in an unpleasant place, but I don't expect that place to be "downstairs".
