On his Twitter today Liam very bluntly stated that he and Pat aren't friends either, but that he looks forward to continuing doing stuff with Matt and Woolie now that the channel is shutting down. In hindsight it's really obvious from the videos that they were not getting along (Pat was always really condescending towards Liam) and you could sorta see Matt heading in that direction in more recent videos as well.

It's clear to me now that Woolie is the only reason these people ever cared about each other, which is both great because he's my favorite of the bunch next to Pat, and sad because it really shows how much of a tight rope the channel itself was on.

Pat is my favorite of the four, so it makes me sad to see that it was likely him who was pushing everyone else away as time went on.

The good news at least is that Woolie and Pat are gonna be doing a podcast together. They have good chemistry, even if lacking the other two guys.

Yeah, this bummed me out all of yesterday. I try to think of it as the collab potential finally running out, in the same way that sitcoms run out of steam. Sometimes you've drawn all the water out of a given well, and if you keep sending that bucket down, eventually you're going to get a bucket of mud. British sitcoms tend to finish up before the mud stage begins, and I think that's what the Zaibatsu are doing too. So instead of lamenting the potential good stuff that was to come, I find some comfort in knowing that they never would have happened in the way I would have wanted them to happen, because that well was already dry. Except for the mud at the bottom. Dumb analogy, but I don't know how else to explain it.

As for Pat being the breaker-up of the friendships, weeeeell, could be, could be not. He's pretty much always been my favourite of the four, then Woolie, so I have some inclination to take his side in stuff like this, but I know how abrasive he can be. Watching him and Paige interact is a character study in 'how have they not killed one another yet' and I'm sure he takes some getting used to. I myself have a friend whose primary way of interacting with his friends is antagonistic and mocking and taking the piss and making sarcastic comments. They know it's all in good fun, and just their way of interacting, but people coming in blind have a hard time, and it can be super grating if you're around it all the time. I was actually a housemate with him for a year during uni, sharing a kitchen, and we almost came to blows at times. So I know first hand how some people can just grate at one another. And I'm sure Pat's own personality must have had some factor, but I don't see Woolie choosing to continue collaborating with him if Pat was the problem. There's a lot more going on there, people drift apart, they have creative differences, and it seems like Matt has been ready to move on from Let's Plays for a while now, while Woolie and Pat seem happy enough to continue doing it. I mean, Pat has no interest in doing anything creative/structured (his own words), so I guess he'll be streaming and LPing till he dies on his sofa and Elmo VII eats him.

Either way, from what I can gather, this might have been brewing since the time Liam left the channel. It does seem like Matt might have been closer to Liam than to Pat, and that Liam left because he and Pat did not get on to put it lightly. That might have been the wedge of resentment that drove Matt and Pat apart, but it's hard to join the dots when the the four of them are fairly tight-lipped and unwilling to actually throw one another under the bus.

Man, I knew this was going to end at some point, but it still stings when it happens, especially because of a friendship breaker. For a while now, they haven't done many specials aside from FNFs and Shitstorms so perhaps it was a long time coming. Best of luck to all of them on their solo projects.

What will happen to Billy? The other guys at least can still do videos and stream, but Billy, as far as I know, just did a bunch of video editing :(

Billy was brought in to ease up the work load on the guys when Liam left, and with the main channel done and the guys spreading their content to their own channels, his job is done. He said on Twitter IIRC that if people want to reach out, he has his own stream.

Wasn't Pat originally brought in as a replacement for Woolie because he was Woolie's friend? It makes sense that even if he was a troublemaker for the other two that Woolie would still stay in touch with him.

Yeah, Woolie was originally the friend-in-common between Matt and Pat. And now we bookend back to the same state.

Woolie was also the friend-in-common between them and Liam in the beginning. Although since, it would seem Liam stays most in contact with Matt.

In hindsight, it makes sense that the group would fracture in this manner (Liam and Matt parting and Woolie and Pat still working together).

It's easy to point at Pat as the element that breaks the group, which he might very well have been, but I think it's evident since Matt launched his channel thar he is moving beyond the scope of the channel.

His content is the most varied, with specific focus on game developing (which he is directly involved with at the moment) and with a significant amount of polish in presentation.

Pat is content staying in the LP business.

And if you think about it, it was him the one that started the full Let's Plays on SBFP with Resident Evil 2.

Sad to see it end. Probably my favorite L Pers. Sucks to end that way. Hope Woolie is still friends with Liam and Matt :(

So, what now? I think part of the reason for some of this hostility was Matt wanting to do more scripted and edited stuff. Like, on his channel he does Wha Happun? and his recent Dante's Inferno playthrough was heavily edited to cut out all the boring stuff. I think that's what we're going to get from Matt's channel going forward, but I don't know about the rest. Do you think there will ever be a two man playthrough of anything again?

[up] I don't know about Matt, but Woolie just finished a 60 episode long LP of Neir Automata with Liam and as far as I can tell they got along fine.

I feel especially sorry for Woolie here; he's friends with everyone but all three don't want to work together anymore. He's like that one friend that when two others are having a fight gets caught in the middle.

Matt and Liam still do collabs between things like The Quiet Man and Life is Strange. A thing of the three of them together would be nice.

Liam and Matt are on good terms.

Since the individual channels started, they have colaborated a couple of times and he pops up in conversation whenever Leana is around as those two are still close.

The reason this hurts so much is because they put out content every single day. For years now they put out two half hour videos daily. Like, if they had never expanded from their once a week videos this wouldn't hurt so bad. But now we've come to expect them putting out content each and every day, and because of that we got to know them really, really well.

As a fan, it hurts that the gang is no more due to animosity between Matt and Pat and the whole group going their separate ways with their own channels. I wish them all the best of luck and thanks for the years of entertainment.

On the awkward "Well uh, I never actually liked this channel, but I'm gonna comment anyway" side, I always kinda thought names of channels like these are kinda false advertising <_<

Like people forget that on some level, youtubers and let's players do as much marketing stuff as bigger companies do tongue When it becomes work, it comes with qualities of work and its not anymore just a hobby for fun

Like, I have bit hard time relating to people being personally hurt by this because I always distance myself from youtubers and such and think everyone should do so too. I mean, its just nightmare fuel to me whenever people post heartfelt "You saved my life due to having funny videos" posts in youtube comments, because the writer of those posts doesn't truly "know" the person in the video and the are basically thanking their lives to a stranger because they assume they know the person based on their PR. Its basically same thing as what people do with celebrities and such

Their first Full LP was Silent Hill Downpour which started on Mar 20, 2012.

Some of their other early Full LPs include Final Fight Streetwise and Heavy Rain. That October marked their first Shitstorm.

No, the first full LP was Resident Evil 2.

[up]Yeah, it was. December 19 2011. Somehow I scrolled right past it. My bad. It would be a while before they moved to daily updates. I think the first time they had three concurrent LPs was right after the first Shitstorm, when they played Way of the Samurai Chrono Trigger and Eternal Darkness all at once.

It is said that no one has ever completed a Kingdom Hearts LP. All those who have tried have had the videos flagged for copyright (Liam), or had their channel destroyed.
