One man army is actually the easiest way to beat the game, much like Pokémon. Just remember to exploit the areas that are made for grinding and updating your weapon and armor periodically. Since only Laharl will need the exp and weaponry, you'll always be several levels ahead from the bosses and have gear that are on par or even better than most bosses.
