Swore it was green. Oh well, how much venom does it take to turn, is there an amount that it kills but not turns?
Life's Gonna Suck When You Grow Up... But Is It That Great Now?... Also I'm Skylark2 now.I was thinking that the cover ups are more to a) keep consistent concepts b) for the annoying meddling folk, but you really have a good point xP
It causes wolf's flesh to turn green, but it isn't green itself.
"Here to welcome our new golden-eyed overlords," said Addy promptly.I must not... oh fuck it. "Abner, Abner, the Brian boy just ate a cat."

"Here to welcome our new golden-eyed overlords," said Addy promptly. There is some unspecified minimum amount of venom to cause turning. Less than that was shown in canon to cause scarring (canon!Bella acquired a scar like that in book one). Presumably, a scar like that could be located in a sufficiently inopportune place that it would kill the victim, but if it's just on an arm or something it won't be really dangerous.

Hey, does that scar mirrors Luminosity!Bella scar?
"Here to welcome our new golden-eyed overlords," said Addy promptly. Not really, canon!Bella's scar was from James and I don't even remember which side she had it on.
And wasn't it on her wrist? Canon Bella that is.
I always assumed Luminosity's Bella's scar was between her thumb and forefinger. But I'm probably wrong.
So is the scar like a bit of vampire tissue?
Life's Gonna Suck When You Grow Up... But Is It That Great Now?... Also I'm Skylark2 now.Vampire tissue is so drastically different from, it is much colder than human tissue, bellow room temperature, icy, it has a smooth stone texture, and is compared with steel... so I think that the scar has vampire-like atributes, but it isn't exactly "vampire tissue", maybe it could be compared with hybrid tissue.
"Here to welcome our new golden-eyed overlords," said Addy promptly.Canon!Bella's scar was cold, and sounded a little like vampire tissue but not all that much.
Luminous!Bella's scar from Cody's bite was on her wrist.
So does the dhampyr uterinal shell serve any purpose?

Yes.
Something tells me vampire parents avoid jobs that take them away from their kid's for long periods of time.
Life's Gonna Suck When You Grow Up... But Is It That Great Now?... Also I'm Skylark2 now.Is this because of the kinder garden thing?
I considered that possibility:
EDIT: Also, in rather short time, there will be hybrids parents too, half-half-hybrids will have a greater need than usual if anything, due to the sleep pattern.

"Here to welcome our new golden-eyed overlords," said Addy promptly. And plus it would be easier to miss huge parts of them growing up.
Life's Gonna Suck When You Grow Up... But Is It That Great Now?... Also I'm Skylark2 now.So do you think is a bad idea? Maybe a hybrid school would be better?
"Here to welcome our new golden-eyed overlords," said Addy promptly. No I mean a vampire would prefer a job where they aren't likely to have to spend large amounts of time away from their family, since hybrids grow up fast.
Life's Gonna Suck When You Grow Up... But Is It That Great Now?... Also I'm Skylark2 now. You're assuming that most vampires care that much about their kids. I always assumed that it was rare that Bella was able to put Elspeth so high in her priorities. Most vampires dont have that, especially if they aren't very parental.

Than why do they bother? I mean a vampire usaully needs scientific intervention to have a kid, it isn't easy. And I imagine rasing a rapidly growing, super strong, natural predator takes work. They'd have to have parental feelings, the ones who have kid's at least. People like Joham being the exception. And plus we've seen a fair number of indications that vampires retain the ability to give parental love.

Life's Gonna Suck When You Grow Up... But Is It That Great Now?... Also I'm Skylark2 now.I don't think that Vampires caring for children is that hard, and that Bella isn't unusual in that. She was just unusual in the fact of how she raised Elspeth, due to Edward's aparent death.
That said.
- Even if you want to parent your children, you might not want to do it 24 hours a day.
- It might not be healthy for the child to stay 24 with her parents that way, children need to learn some idependency, even if they grow super fast.
- Again, it would be healthy for the child to socialize with other children "in the know" and who have similar abilities.
Still, fly in fly out jobs seem like they would be avoided.

Venom is clear.
I think writers of Masquerade-involving fiction in general overestimate people's curiosity and underestimate their willingness to accept normal-sounding explanations. In college I had a class with a guy who had an enlarged, discolored, strangely-textured pinky finger on one hand. I asked him what it was (already more than most people he encounters probably do, since it was kind of rude). He said it was "a birth thing" - didn't have a name for the condition or more details about it. I bought this without further inquiry. If it happened that his finger was actually some kind of demonic graft or a sign that he was a changeling, this scene would not have played out any differently. Similarly, I expect that Molly's kid can tell his classmates that he is special and grows fast and have them mostly say "okay!". The ones who do not react that way will be few enough that they can just be disclosed to; it's not a huge deal.
