This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

Hello. I was suspended a few days ago for rogue-launching a trope in TLP. I have since then read over the guidelines and understood my mistake, and will ensure it will not happen again, since I now have a better understanding of TLP rules and etiquette.

that edit war wasn’t my fault, though. I had a legitimate point that got deleted once because the person disagreed with my point, which shouldn’t have been allowed seeing as it was a YMMV page. The second time it was deleted because it was ‘flame bait’ which is unfair.

Hi! Would like to know why I got suspended. I've been trying to be constructive with my edits, like the South Park page. What can I do to be better?
I just logged on to my account here on a whim after mostly just browsing without logging in and saw a message saying I was suspended. I really barely edit so not sure what that's about. I guess I'd appreciate being reinstated / hearing what the issue was. Thanks!

It appears you are unilaterally changing from one English spelling to another. Here's the deal: we have no preference between American and Commonwealth Spellings. What matters is what spelling was used first.
~Team Tony: An edit dispute becomes an edit war after the third edit. After someone removes your edit, you should take it to discussion instead of adding it back. Add-delete-add is an edit war.

Hi, I think I might have been banned for edit warring. I didn't realize that I edited twice I simply thought it didn't go through the first time. I think my correction is valid but I wasn't going to push it had I realized it was the second time.
Okay! I didn't realize there was a set rule but I'll read more of the bylaws and avoid it in the future.
Hi, I've gotten an editing ban. Judging by my previous activity, which hasn't been that recent, I assume it might be from the page "Web Video/Dollightful"? I probably wasn't as clear in my examples as I should have been (as seen from the listing examples page, which I've just seen, sorry about that), probably assuming too hard that others had seen the videos without my input being entirely necessary.
I'm just remembering this, but I think my most recent edit concerned her 3 cats which appear in each episode regularly, one of which is named Pinto. Considering the alternate language meanings of the name, that's probably the reason for the editing ban, right? If I end up writing a trope listing with a similar issue, should I ensure I post a piece of evidence to ensure it's correct?
I haven't seen any new messages aside from a few from last year, so I would like more information if this is not the case. I'll make sure to implement the criticism properly into my work in the future.

Ok, so I’m suspended from making edits to the wiki. The only page where I think this could come from is my edits to Voltron: Legendary Defender, where my edits were re-done by one user (and I’m not the only one whose edits were altered) to be more favorable to the show/tonally neutral. Because other than that, I haven’t gotten complaints. Even those edits weren’t Natter or anything like that, I wasn’t trying to beat people over the head with a divisive point about the narrative. So I want to know where the violation occurred so I can avoid it in the future.
Ok, I'll try and make sure my indentations are more in line with the standards set on the website. Can you give me an example of what I need to avoid?

- Also a mild theme in Silvally's design, with a mix of armour designs present to achieve the theme of the original Pokemon.
The second line was your addition to the latter trope.

That's not what Knight in Shining Armor means. Please read the trope description.
Also, a better way to write examples is to just start off with describing them. Don't refer to the trope as a preface for the example ("This is heavily featured in...", "A somewhat milder theme in..."), because that leads inherently to non-explanatory descriptions.

This is still kind of vague and only really establishes that the character looks like a mix-and-match creature, not that they threw on whatever articles of clothing happened to be nearby after a tornado struck the department store.

Most of the edits I were putting in that particular page were about “X product sales” or “Y product being released” because I was going out of my way to avoid superlatives and blanket statements that would offend other posters. I’m not trying to start arguments about plot points or fandom interpretations, I swear. Especially after the forum suspension, I have made it a point to be less confrontational with my opinions. So yes, I am sorry because I’m not trying to start any sort of impassioned edit war.

~Beatman1: What I see, and others have complained about, is you adding edits that are speculative with respect to the intent of the creators, without any Word of God to back it up and in contradiction of established facts. A lot of your edits have had to be revised or deleted by other tropers, leading to a strong impression that they are protecting the article against your continued attempts to make it more negative.
Sales figures, Rotten Tomatoes scores and other things like that are not relevant to troping and should not be used to support or generate examples.
You've also repeatedly been the target of complaints on the forums about your behavior in the VLD topic, including bias against gay shipping (among other things).
Going into depth on this would require a lot more time than I have. I'm going to bring this up in the mod discussion so we can get a better idea of what to do with you.
