This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

May I ask why I have been suspended? The last post I made was adding to a What an Idiot entry about a kids' book, pointing out that the What an Idiot doesn't necessarily apply to a character who is a child.
Is that not allowed? Is there a preferable way to address it or do I just let it go?
I had reposted it several times in a short time period, but that was mainly me fussily editing my own post to get the wording exactly right. When I saw it deleted, I thought it was glitch on my end and reposted it. I'm sorry. I was not aware that anyone had any problem with it.
The next time I see one of my entries mysteriously disappeared, I'll keep in mind that it may have been deleted because it did not fit the required rules/formatting of the site.
Thank you for reading and (hopefully) reconsidering

~lilac: "I thought it was a glitch." So you never checked the edit history? You didn't notice a message sent to you that your addition to the article was Conversation in the Main Page?
I'm trying to establish a baseline for the necessary conversation here.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"How do I get unsuspended?
~Joseph Green: By telling us why you restored BaseBreakingCharacter.Doctor Who after it was cut.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I'd like my suspension removed, please. I'm unaware as to why I was, and I'd like to be able to proofread articles for spelling errors again.
~Cleffa Girl 173: So, you were fixing spelling when you edit warred over natter on Trivia.Sponge Bob Square Pants Battle For Bikini Bottom?
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"~Fighteer I believe so.... I apologize. I'd like to be able to fix things once again. What should I do?

I didn't see the issue.
~JosephGreen: You didn't see the issue with unilaterally restoring a page cut in accordance with an ongoing cleanup effort without even bothering to discuss the matter with anyone?
"Yup. That tasted purple."~Fighteer
Yeah, I know. I deeply apologize, and I'll promise to remember to add an edit reason when I'll do something of the sort again.

~Joseph Green: If you're going to blatantly ignore common courtesy, then there is absolutely no reason for us to let you edit again.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"It won't happen again.
~Cleffa Girl 173: I'm not sure we're communicating clearly. Some of your edits are, indeed, correcting spelling. Some are not. Some of your "corrections" are in violation of our policy about American and Commonwealth Spellings. Do not change "colour" to "color"; that's against our rules.
What I'd like you to do most of all is explain what Conversation in the Main Page is, how it applies to the edit I mentioned earlier, and what you should do instead.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"~Mikomin MM: Okay, I'll release your suspension. Let's not have a repeat.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"~Joseph Green: Literally minutes after we released your suspension on June 11, you violated our rules again. No, you aren't getting your privileges back. Whatever communication or comprehension issue you have is not our problem... at least not any more.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Fighteer Oh, I wasn't aware of that... I apologize. It won't happen again, I promise.

How did I violate the rules?
~CleffaGirl173: If you're serious, then you can start by actually explaining the things you were asked to.

JosephGreen has been escorted from the building since clearly they weren't getting the "we're not restoring your privileges" message.

"Yup. That tasted purple."An example with proper context explains how or why a trope applies to a work.
Fighteer I kept replacing "colour" with "color" and something similar with other words, and violated the rule against it. I also made an edit that implied I was holding a conversation on a main page.

I am not sure who I sent it to but I just responded to a post in response to what I said. I did say I was aware of the issue, I misunderstood on a page that in order to add back in things that were blocked out, I needed to describe those things, not just resubmit the examples blacked out. Page was Raven Hair, Ivory Skin. I'm well aware of this.
Fighteer I kept replacing "colour" with "color" and something similar with other words, and violated the rule against it. I also made an edit that implied I was holding a conversation on a main page. Again, I sincerely apologize for my actions.
I'm afraid I'm not clear on why I'm still in suspension despite it going on for months
~Marvel Fan 2018: As you clearly have no interest in following or attempting to follow our rules, you will indeed not get any more chances.
~Four Five One: Did you not take the notifications you got seriously? Please explain your understanding of what makes for proper example context.
~Mikomin MM: Regardless of why you are making those changes, you must leave an edit reason. This is mandatory whenever any content is deleted. You then did it again after someone reverted your changes. Our edit war rules are there to prevent conflicts like this, when people keep reverting each other because they don't communicate effectively.
