This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

I just tried to edit to correct a mistake I was informed of and found out I was suspended. Please tell me why I was suspended and how long my suspension will last for.
Edit: Having searched through Ask the Tropers, I found the reason I was suspended for. I apologize. I had been making an effort to avoid natter, but I hadn't thought that what I'd posted was inappropriate for a Tear Jerker page. I'll be more careful, in the future.

I thought splitting the pages was a good idea because it made it so much easier to just click a tab to drop down the information rather than click an index to go to another page. Also, it made it a lot neater to have it all be tabs instead of tabs and indexes or just indexes. I was just trying to make it neater so I'm sorry for damaging it.

Menshevik, we just want to make sure that you understand Example Indentation, since that's what you have the most notifiers for. Please also note that listing two tropes as one (i.e. Badass / Badass Grandpa) is a no-go.
It's also notable that, while you may find a notifier frustrating, it is sent with the intentions of making the wiki better. All clear?
Luigifan, the proper thing to do if you create something in the wrong namespace, copy the page and paste it into the correct namespace, and then put the incorrectly namespaced article in the Cut List. In your case, it would have been DarthWiki.Elite Beat Agents 2 Versus The Seven Deadly Sins. Review Unpublished Works to note that subpages are not permitted.
Zelda Queen 64, YMMV subpages are not a justification for natter. Please add substantial examples instead of responding to other examples. See Conversation in the Main Page.
Knight 20, you've honestly made a huge mess out of a lot of pages by reverting splits. These pages are split to keep in mind character limits. Not even thinking to bring it up in a discussion or elsewhere before doing so is not a solid indicator. Do you understand?

I understand, and I am sorry. I was trying to add my own examples and had done my best to follow the leads of the other examples on the page, but I was mistaken.
Would it be possible to know about how long the suspension will be for? I'll be glad to serve whatever period is deemed appropriate, but I would appreciate knowing about how long to expect. Thank you!

~Knight20 - I've lifted your suspension. Just keep in mind that large formatting changes like that need to be approved before making them.
~staticat09 - Your suspension is lifted. We take this particular issue very seriously, so make sure it doesn't happen again.

Not really. What you described sounds like page blanking to me.
Page blanking empties the original page and re-creates the content elsewhere, abandoning the original page with no explanation.
What you need to do it copy the content to the correct page, and then Cut List the original page, with the appropriate reason. The original page should not be blanked when you put it on the Cut list.

Okay, I think I get it now. But how do I use the Cut List?
The cut list is here, along with instructions. Take note that it has to be in the form of a WikiWord - i.e. for pages in Main/, you can put only ExampleExample, but for pages with specific namespaces you should put the full namespace (for example, Film/ExampleExample). Got it?

Hey... so this is embarrassing, but I was banned not for editing pages inappropriately, but for not editing pages at all. (Well, I did contribute a couple of edits where I posted some of my machine metadata instead of actual edits, but I'm sorry, it won't happen again.)
I swear I wasn't trying to "bump up" my editing stats so I can brag about how many pages I've edited. I just made a mistake in my coding, which thus made my engine contribute 0 useful info instead of faulty info. When I tried to stop the engine, I must have pressed Ctrl+V a couple times by mistake and the code copied my metadata onto the trope pages just a few times.
I'll be more cautious about this stuff in the future. Not sure where you guys stand on automated editing, but I swear to god it works like a charm on the isolated test cases I ran locally on my system. Just a bit more tweaking and it'll be good to go. Thanks.
