This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

@genius66: I'd like you to demonstrate your competence rather that just claim you'll be competent. Show, Don't Tell, after all. Post some edits you want to make in the Help with English thread and we'll critique them.
@PeiraIssaNoid: We don't buy the "my dog did it" or I Have This Friend excuses. Even if true, it means you didn't bother to supervise your friend to make sure he didn't do something stupid when he edited. Sorry, no dice.

I know my reasons for suspension; I edit war a lot with c0sm0, and my edit reasons are excessively rude and hotblooded. I was also pretty immature with these last few ones (much to my shame, as I'll be turning 21 in a few days).
Anything else I should know? I will keep myself in check from now on.
I think that I was banned for edit wars on the Monsters University page because I removed a fic from it just because I didn't like it. Next time, I'll just leave a negative review.
Regardless of what it was, I am sorry for whatever I have done. I will not do it again. Thank you for listening.

@wootzits: Well, you've fairly accurately described the situation. I'm curious why it took a suspension for you to acknowledge that you need to be polite to people. GIFT aside, one would imagine that you'd learn that long before editing a wiki.
@Computergal: Same here, basically. You don't get to decide what other people are allowed to like. Fanfic recs are by definition someone's opinion, and that's not arguable. You can only contest a rec if it violates the rules — for example, if it's written by the author of the fic.
This bit here, in particular, stands out from one of your edit reasons: "Also, you Cartunes fans are brainwashed into whatever garbage she makes." I'm not sure what world you live in where that's an acceptable way to communicate with people.

The only person I've been really rude to was c0sm0, we've been going at it for more than a year and NOW is when you decide to suspend me? Did it not occur to you that it's a personal matter between him/her and me?
Also, for all your preaching about how tropers should write in correct standard English, you sure have made a good job of ignoring c0sm0. And s/he keeps getting the meaning of most tropes wrong; no matter how many times I tell him/her "This is not what this trope means" s/he keeps ignoring most tropes' meanings just so s/he can fill up the page. All this time, I was the one to correct his/her crap; of course I'm eventually going to get fed up and be a little more abrasive than normal.
How about you pay some attention to the context of things instead of jumping the gun?

Ah, now we see some truth come out.
It's not our job to police the wiki for violations of policy. We depend on people reporting issues to us for action. If you've been "chasing this editor around" for a year fixing their stuff, maybe you should have considered telling us something was going on rather than get banned yourself for dickishness.
If it validates your feelings any, since you have (now) brought the matter up, I investigated c0sm0's edits and see exactly what you're talking about, and that user has also been suspended. Among other things, they are horrifically abusing the Spoiler Policy.
None of this excuses your actions.

Your response to my inquiry belies that. You went from apologetic to blaming us for suspending you and not him, when you hadn't followed proper reporting procedure. This sort of volatility is the issue we have. I'm not convinced you can cut it out.
In the case that we do give you another chance, do you acknowledge that, if it happens again, your ban will be permanent?

@Fighteer Even though I (and quite a few others) seem to think the same, I guess I'll have to let them have their opinion.
Actually, I personally don't mind if I can't edit again, since I barely use my account. That doesn't mean that it'll be like that forever, though.

You're missing the point. We want you to edit the wiki, if you can accept that we don't value anyone's opinion over anyone else's when it comes to subjective matters like the quality of a work. Calling people names over such disagreements is a violation of our most fundamental rule: "Don't be a dick."
On a personal level, it baffles me that anyone would care enough about fan fiction to leave a comment like you did in the first place.

Are you referring to me in post 4240? Sorry if that IS me, i'll try to be better, but right now there are a lot of tropes being used and not recorded on the site because I can't edit, and some pages are woefully underdeveloped, so can I please have my editing privileges back?
