The personification of General Fundamentals: He only does the standard magecraft literally everyone knows, but he's good enough at it that he doesn't need anything else.
The zenith of Individual Fundamentals: He's the winner of the genetic Superpower Lottery, being randomly born with 100 times the magical energy reserves of the average mage and most importantly the insane MP regen to 5 times the average mage's worth in one breath.
Doesn't Lorelei use the same thing? Ordinary magecraft at an insanely high level

I stumbled across SugarPunch Design Works' video on Melty Blood's character designs, and he sums up the genre for the Nasuverse's modern fantasy as "magic assholes fighting in the streets at night", which isn't true universally but it's hilarious how mostly true that is a lot of the time.

Frankly most of the Melty Blood cast aren't designed like fighting game characters, so I get the bland comment. You can tell they came from a decades old visual novel, where the appeal of their character designs are different in said genre.

if nothing else, Melty Blood's designs are a VERY nice breath of fresh air in the Fighting Game circle
like, i can't even begin to tell you how grossly sexualized women's designs are in fighting games all. the. time.
