Update. Megumi finally gets the full story out of Ping. It seems her nature as a video-game accessory is showing; she likes the idea of microtransactions (heh), and mostly thinks of "value" in terms of money.

Does Megumi know Ping's a robot? Junko knows, but there's been several incidents previously where it seemed like other people genuinely can't tell that she's a robot (e.g. the schoolgirls bullying her about her changing appearance), despite the giant ear-displays.

Junko didn't know either until Ping ripped a telephone pole out of the ground—and even then, the exact details had to be explained to her. Remember, one of the key parts of the comic is that everyone has a different Weirdness Censor.

Maybe that's why the Emotional Doll System accessory never got past the prototype stage - once they tried to sell them people kept mistaking it for human trafficking.

"Replay", heh.

I think Grandma is being very helpful. Either Ping decides to go through with this, in which case accurate knowledge of what to do is useful, or alternately accurate knowledge of what she's getting into convinces her to not go through with this (seems plausible, given how much more flustered Ping looks now).

Megumi doesn't approve either way, but that's why it's funny.

Is that another new kitsune in the last panel?

No, that's Ashe, the apparently-mute kitsune who works at the Foxhole. Last seen mildly confused by the pile of beaten-up ninja after going out to check on Ping's "guy she left across the street" (see previous page).

Well. That's an interesting development.

Apparently this guy is totally aware that Ping is (a) not Junko and (b) a robot, because he designed her. Which might explain why he's been playing along so far. But what exactly does he mean by "one of the many girls I used to design her with" (referring to Junko)? I feel like I'm not parsing that sentence correctly somehow.

Also, is it just me, or has the update schedule gotten worse again?

I think he means he's been "subsidized dating" with Junko and other teenage girls as field research for programming EDS personalities. Research without prior informed consent, of course.

There has been more family health problems for Fred. He's struggled to find time to work on the comic, let alone work on other things. The guy can't seem to catch a break.

I sure didn't expect that.

Ashe looks pissed. I wonder if she's mad that this guy is blatantly not really thinking of Junko as a person.

Or she may be angry at him for not realizing why Ping is impersonating Junko (to protect her from selling herself to him).

Went back to check, and I'm pretty sure that's Ashe's own phone. She must have been seriously mad to snap it in half by accident.

Yeah, he deserved that.

Good suplex technique. Grandma offering to count the pin is excellent.

Also note the sudden foxtails on Megumi, partially hidden by the word bubble.
