1. Much of the job's power is tied to a pet whose controls have always been, to use the academic phrase, jank as all fuck, and only in the current expansion pack has this been meaningfully addressed (by making the fairy's abilities "originate" from the player themselves, fully reducing the fairy to a dumb Regen).

I'm pretty sure stuff still originates from the fairy. Trying to double weave Fey Blessing and Whispering Dawn doesn't really work because she has to cast them, and she's the center point of those buffs.

Isn't Scholar-Astro the healer comp that is by and large the most sought after by raiders?

I think it makes sense for shield healers not to be able to burst heal like WHM do, else there would be exactly zero reason to ever play anything else.

Yeah, in the HIGH high endgame you're not really looking for burst healing, you're looking for mitigation and support, so White Mage especially falls off in favor of Scholar shields preventing damage from happening, and Astro's good enough at fixing up the manageable party-buster damage and brings their cards. Sage I can also see falling off because they bring DPS, but their mitigation shields aren't as potent as a Scholar's is, and I could see that being more important since Savage tankbusters hurt like hell.

I'm not sure if shield healers even use their GCD heals that often in Savage unless there's downtime. I'd need to ask my SGE friend, though I'm willing to bet it's "no" since SGE has OGCD damage reduction.

Also DRK and GNB kind of laugh at tankbusters so the healing isn't as bad as you think. TBN and HOC are dumb.

When I use SCH I tend to use their GCD shield spells as much as anything, though more than the GCD direct heal.

Physick is garbage and I only keep it on my hotbar in case I get sub 30 content in Leveling. You shouldn't touch it like ever.

If the tank is doing a good job (or they're a WAR and negating your existence) you only need to throw out an occasional Lustrate or use Excog to basically ignore them for upwards of 45 seconds. You don't need to GCD heal very often.

The Theatrhythm trailer has Who Brings Shadow in the track list.

Considering they are stating there are 385 tracks, that probably means we'll get...I'd say roughly 20-25 songs from XIV?

So if you want to play a litle game, we can all write off what we think the 20 XIV songs in the base game will be, and see who's best at guessing :D

I'll start.

    Hypothetical tracklist
  • 1. Who Brings Shadow (confirmed)
  • 2. Answers
  • 3. A Long Fall
  • 4. Beauty's Wicked Wiles
  • 5. The Black Wolf Stalks Again
  • 6. Triumph
  • 7. Ink Long Dry
  • 8. Revolutions
  • 9. Metal
  • 10. Dragonsong
  • 11. Heroes
  • 12. Torn from the Heavens
  • 13. Insatiable
  • 14. Fallen Angel
  • 15. Under the Weight
  • 16. What Angel Wakes Me
  • 17. Revenge Twofold
  • 18. Close in the Distance
  • 19. With Hearts Aligned
  • 20. Vibrant Voices

We just need a XIV exclusive version of that game, the appropriate tracks list is as long as the list of tracks they are putting in that game...

Erenville and him are IMO quite likely to reappear in future content. Being MSQ bound helps, obviously.

TBH, I was very interested in the day to day lives of Garlemald citizens ever since the Ivalice raids, and this story paints a good picture of what came before.

And I enjoyed Jullus's narration on the Garlean royal family and him thinking on Zenos's words.

Like I said before, the Garleans actually fit the definition of beastmen according to Eorzea.

Have summoned a primal, not one of the spoken, and very biologically different(in this case, being unable to manipulate Aether and having super strength to compensate.)

Granted, the definition of beastmen was created by Lalafell capitalists to keep systemic racism going so they don't have to compete with other businesses.

Yeah that's part of why Lalafell specifically were chosen as the Beast Race I believe.

Meanwhile the Amalj'aa are living in civilized places like the Crystarium.

Just went back and finished Eden! That was a really good story IMHO, glad I didn't skip it overlong. Now I definitely feel better about not recognizing some current mechanics. If I'd done Eden before this I might have run into them.
