I liked that Fordola is a boxed crook. That's an interesting development.
And hey, sure SB may not be as good as HW or SHB, but it's great on it's own merits.
Except for Lyse, she sucks.

If you have to skip any expansion story, I'd say probably Stormblood is the best one to do so... but I wouldn't really recommend it either way.
Well, we've got relic weapons incoming tomorrow. Time for me to actually watch the storyline for Ivalice, I suppose.

Apparently the first step will be pretty basic, but the next few steps will involve a new exploration area like Eureka with its own leveling system. So expect an unholy grind... even if they are also incorporating other ways to get upgrade materials, which presumably means yet another tomestones sink.

It had to be a thematic opposite to Yotsuyu i guess.
Yotsuyu dies satisfied while Fordola has to live with her sins and atone. I guess the age has something to do with it.

She got to kill Asahi and avenge herself on her abusive family. She seemed satisfied and accepted her death.
Seriously, killing Asahi would make anyone happy.

Are the various ___leve and Leve___ quests pronounced as lehv or leave?
Leave, I say. There's a few quests out there with names along the lines of "make like a tree and leve", so.

"leh-v" is the official pronunciation that the devs have used on streams and interviews.
However XIV is willing to use the other one for the sake of a pun.
If you want an explanation for Alphinaud buying a katana, it was following a lead on Gosetsu after he was presumed dead. It leads into us saving the world from some really pissed off animals and the Scions getting a shit-ton of money, though, so it was the best financial move in the end.
On a different note, the Trial boss for the upcoming patch has been datamined. It's a bit surprising, to say the least.

Basically Alph casually decided to purchase Gotetsu's katana while searching for him without checking the price. Turns out a one-of-a-kind masterwork katana is pretty expensive.

Alphinaud spending so much cash has been a great joke that he was never able to live down among other things he can also never live down.

the trial is extreme only, and is unlocked after you finish the quests for unlocking your relic weapon

Alphinaud is such a goof and I love him. I'm really glad they brought Alisaie into the main group for Stormblood and onward, just because the twins have a great dynamic (and both work great as separate characters, too).
