Nope not even close.
There's a playthrough, then a second one from a different characters perspective(Same as the first!) but with more backstory and lore, then shit goes bad in the third, and then you have three endings to play for in the third, which sends you back before you chose an ending after getting the first of the last three major endings.
The second playthrough is important because it ties into the games themes(History Repeats, etc.)

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Yeah, Nier has a shit ton of content.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult..... to get the gist of it though not all that is needed...
Basically, the main thing to remember is that this cannot continue.
BECOME AS GODS BECOME AS GODS
WE SHALL DIE AND BECOME AS GODS
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. And don't forget that it all takes place in the same multiverse as Drakengard!
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.Also everything sucks and is depressing.
It's basically about a meaningless proxy Forever War between sentient robot soldiers built solely to fight in this meaningless war.
It's very existential.

THERES GONNA BE A MEERKAT MINION IN 5.1 I NEEEEEEED IIIIIIIIT
"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaTHANK FUCKING FUCK-FUCK! No more healers in Sohm Al wearing their basic AF and using a i50 Grand Company weapon, no more tanks in Sirensong Sea that have less HP than their healers. They actually went and did it!
There is a meaning, though it still sucks for the ones actually on the field. Essentially the ones in charge of both sides are using this war to become more like the long extinct humans.
Disgusted, but not surprisedMan, they did to crafting what they do to the combat classes every expansion.
I guess that means you can't just spam Steady Hand II to victory any more, at least.
"Look how they massacred my boy." - Seasoned Crafters, 5.1
Personally, I barely craft or gather, so I'll see how I feel about it.
So anyone replaying Heavensward in NG+?

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Crafting was such a clusterF that all you ever did was google a website with a macro for it and bam let that macro do its job.
Now people can craft without third party websites.
I really enjoyed it, personally. There was a whole lot of fun CP maintenance interactions if you were a Specialist and now all of that's gone.
You won't need a third party because there's like 5 buttons left to press.
Dat baby buff to WHM.
Also BLU major buffs.
And Orbonne Monastery getting an Echo buff cause people really really REALLY fucking suck at that raid.

Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.BLU got the buffs because they nerfed Offguard by a LOT. The net change isn't actually as huge as the potency changes let on.
The change to having an increased chance to learn it if you do not go in with an undersized party is really nice though.
There were 5 freaken bars worth of buttons with everything and tbh not nearly that many were removed, a lot of the various ranks being removed make up the bulk of it.

I really was like "fuck, they massacred crafting" at first. Saw that they took out like literally every necessary action, but then realized that all they did was make it so that you didn't have to cross-class to have their new equivalents. I'll still wait for the inevitable new macros before I dive hardcore into the high-end crafting again, but that's cos I'm a lazy fuck.
Meanwhile, I love everything about the gathering changes.
"Sneak does not hinder movement speed, and can be used when riding mounts."
HALLELUIA!
goddamn theres enough internal mechanics that are changing you'd expect it from the start of a new expansion, not just a standard patch
"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaPersonally, I hardly ever crafted using macros. Even the more reliable ones can fail if you get Excellent/Poor conditions at the wrong times. It just boiled down to Synthesizing until you're close to completion, then getting as much Quality as you can with your remaining durability.
Losing Ingenuity II and Careful Synthesis II hurts. CS III isn't quite the same, since it costs CP to use, while CS II didn't. They also nerfed Great Strides, so Great Strides + Byregot's Blessing likely isn't as good of a finisher anymore.
And Reclaim is gone, so no more "oh shit, I'm not going to finish in time" button. Though frankly they probably had to do something about that, since the combination of Reclaim (90% chance for full refund on failed craft, except crystals) and Reuse (30% chance to get back an item on a successful 100% quality craft) was quite abusable.
Now all those expensive mats will almost always go down the toilet, instead of 10% of the time.
Okay, good point, maybe looking at 3 hours of gameplay will give you a good idea of what Nier Automata is like?
