Just got to the point in the story where you meet back up with Y'shtola. She shows us to a room (presumably hers) that's full of books, and I give her the ancient tablet the Exarch told me about, and I can't help but wonder...

...How is she able to read any of this? She's blind, even if she's got some kind of magic Daredevil-sense to make up for it. Doesn't seem like it should allow her to read, unless there's some minute aetheric difference in ink versus the page it's written on that she can pick up on.

[up][up] Aether in the ink is also explicitly how Arcanist books function the way that they do so it would have been pretty likely the Exarch could have specifically done it that way, and Y'shtola's collection works the same.

So, I just realized something - spoilers for the whole of Shadowbringers, up to the ending trial.

Separated from one's friends by a catastrophe you accidentally caused and don't really understand, cursed to wander for an eternity through a world that doesn't remember you, no longer understands you, and who possibly can't understand what it is that you lost.

Is that Ardbert, or Emet-Selch?

It's been fun.

and given Ardbert is part of us, literally, and we likely created Hydaelyn and shattered the world , we too are fated to the same in some ways.

So that guy who really denying the Ship Tease between Runar and Y'shtola is super ready for an edit war [lol]

So then strike it down the middle, the English version makes the subtext quite clear. The Japanese version its more formal with minimal subtext with uses of 'Ane', aka 'boss', indicating he is more a lackey in a gang type situation.

[up][up][up]At least the Warrior of Light was blissfully unaware of all of this baggage and was just living their life. Emphasis on "was". At this point the Warrior of Light is probably hoping they don't regain their memories.

Disgusted, but not surprised

I don't think that's the issue he has, he cites its because "nothing is confirmed" but left any other instance of Ship Tease on every other character alone. Also apparently they are more like a parent and child? [lol]

I'm gonna second Metaflare here. I don't think Shtola returns his feelings (which isn't to say that she doesn't like him), but Runar is crushing on her hard.

It's been fun.

That doesn't make it not notable and doesn't mean she isn't unknowingly stringing him along. At least in English.

Tease is 'tease' for a reason.

I wouldn't say she's stringing him along. She has no obligation to return his feelings, after all (not to mention the fact that she's from a different world entirely).

Also, the 'tease' in Ship Tease refers to the creators dropping hints of a relationship, not one of the parties "leading on" another.

It's been fun.

Agreed, the parent child thing is just super awkward to call Y'sthola and Runar. I wish you well, i'm going to get popcorn, you might be in for a fight, judging from this guys edits, he's very protective of Y'sthola.

I’ll probably ping a mod later on if I don’t just let it drop entirely, I’m having one of those Real Bad weeks with capital letters, so I have better things to do that pick fights on the internet atm

Okay, I know it's supposed to be a big, dramatic reveal and all, but Vauthry's little wings sprouting out of his back for his "transformation" just looked so damn silly. I'm also not sure how it was supposed to be much of a surprise, I mean, that nipple-face of his was hard to miss.

I'm actually more surprised that this confrontation with Vautrhy is seemingly being held back until I go to Mt. Gulg. The other expansions had trials at about this point in the story, so I was actually expecting the fight with Vauthry to be our second story trial.

[up][up] That was something I actually liked a lot. It's easy to fall into a formula, I was actually shocked when I rounded out the 77 quests and didn't have a trial boss like HW and SB did with Bismark and Lakshmi. Maybe it's a small thing to get so blown away by but I very much appreciated it.

So I found some really old pics of my character, back in 2013 when ARR launched! Man, it brought back a lot of memories. I decided to compare it to my current self and it doesn't look too different, but I did change the lips and nose a bit. It also looks like a progression from "Simple Conjurer" to "Hardened Paladin on the First". Someone commented that it looks like my character looks like they grew older and it sort of does!

So, I can't be the only one who thought that the plan for reaching Mt. Gulg was borderline insane. I mean, it worked, but at the same time, I'm sure there were much better ways of getting us on top of that thing that didn't involve building a Wonder in just a couple of days.

I was also a bit disappointed that the Mt. Gulg dungeon had no fire theme. The imagery really worked for what they were going for, but given it was named after the lair of the Fiend of Fire in the first FF game, that's what I went in expecting. They do seem to have set things up to easily justify a Hard Mode version of the place, since they have mentioned that it's a volcano and that it'll have to come down at some point, but then again that might end up feeling too similar to Sohm Al.

Everything following that dungeon was pretty darn cool, though. I wonder if they'll ever end up elaborating on how that first calamity happened. I assumed it was a result of their habitual creation magic, but I don't think they ever said for certain.
