Have they talked about how exactly it will work? I always assumed that if a certain threshold is cleared by a certain day, the next content patch upgrades Ishgard. That way no-one misses out on a stage because a couple of omnicrafters dropped a load of gil into the system.

Of course, with that system, it would be practically impossible for a server to *not* clear every threshold easily, making the community-driven aspect slightly pointless.

I do think it'll be beefy enough that just missing one week probably won't lose you out on witnessing any of the progress or events that happen around it, just the rewards.

I'm hoping at least that not a lot of actual storyline is told to the turn-ins and can be missed, cutscenes and such. Ishgard is such a beloved part of the story for me (Wow I thought I would never say that before HW came out) I don't want to miss any of the connected plot.

Ideally, the way I would do it would be to keep the individual progress meter from the Doman enclave (based entirely on your own contributions/progress, etc), but cap the stage by the number of people who have made certain milestones, if that makes sense.

For instance, it launches with up to turn-in stage 3 unlocked. If you're the very first person to hit the stage 3 cutscene, then you have to wait a bit while other people do the questline (probably tied to server resets or content patches), which permanently upgrades a communal space like the Brume or the Forgotten Knight and unlocks a new set of upgrades to make in your personal enclave area.

It's been fun.

@MetaflarePrime So the reason that Peter wears the Spider-Man Noir suit in the new movie is because he became the Warrior of Darkness?

Yes, and Mysterio is obviously the Crystal Tower guy.

Quickthinx is Green Goblin, Teledji is Vulture, Omega is the Spider-Slayer, and Lolorito is Kingpin. IT ALL MAKES SENSE.

Ahem, i'm actually wondering at which point we actually become the Warrior of Darkness, im planning my class change from Sam to DRK for that dramatic moment, kinda like how i switched from WAR to DRG for HW, and DRG to SAM after Zenos kicked my ass.

Lolorito seems like he'd lean more towards Hobgoblin, maybe.

He even wears a mask and focuses solely on making a profit.

Nah, i'd say Kingpin, because 1) they both are the richest man in their respective city 2) they are avid followers of pragmatic villainy and refuse to do anything too particularly vile or super villainy in the interests of maintaining their positions unlike Hobgoblin who while he is pragmatic, he's not pragmatic enough to just sell his gear and make tons of money and instead embrace a life of getting punched in the face by Spider-Man. 3) they both can be anti-heroic when they have to be and valuable allies with their resources. 4) They both are seriously petty at times. Both times i can name off the top of my head, involve restaurants, Lolorito tries to shame us during the Culinarian quests because he refuses to accept you can cook so well, while Kingpin had some poor sap's hands broken, because he had the gall to mistakenly give Willy a check, at a restaurant he co-owned.

If you want a Hobgoblin analog, then Nabrieles is the one, Both are successors (at least to the audience) to a villain who has died repeatedly, have a resemblance to said villain but hold them in contempt and consider themselves smarter.

I also compared Teledji to Vulture, specifically MCU Vulture because they both are businessmen who attempt to exploit alien tech for money and power after hitting hard times.

Eh, MCU Vulture was very pragmatic and also had a streak of honor, though, both traits notably missing in Teledji.

Another interview, this time with Famitsu that lasted over 18 pages. I'm heading for work, so I'll just copy-paste the TL:DR the redditor did for people who don't want to follow the link:

Regarding new jobs in 5.0 jobs

- Once you understand how steps work, dancer's gameplay is really simple. It's designed and balanced so there won't be an extreme gap between the top tier players and other players. Anyone can enjoy the job.

- Gunbreakers on the other hand are technical and keeps your hands busy, but becomes better the more you play it. (note: He uses the term "tastier" and uses a japanese dried squid snack = Surume as an example. The squid snack starts to taste better as you continue to bite it over and over again)

Content in the 5.x series

- The 5.x story will reveal secrets that will make you think "Are you sure you want to reveal that much? The game's going to end if we continue on this path".

- The 5.0 Eden raid started with the concept: "How would Tetsuya Nomura (artist for the 5.0 Eden raid and famous for designing FFVII, FFVIII and Kingdom hearsts) interpret a certain enemy if we were to introduce it to FFXIV" and also the reason why they decided to give him the offer.

- The warriors of Darkness will show up in the role quests. Blanhaerz (Knight of darkness) for the tank role quests, J'rhoomale(Ranger of darkness) for physical DPS, Naillbert (Magus of Darkness) for casters, Lamimi (Devout of darkness) for healers. He does not specify if they are dead or not and if we'll just be following their past.

- They are developing a "circle" (tentative name) system for the patch after 5.0. It's a system that helps players create a community that is lighter/looser than an LS or a FC. He uses the FFXIV radio (in Japan) as an example and explains the system as something where you can create a "circle" to listen to the FFXIV radio together and people who want to join can apply/queue for that circle and then the leader of that circle can respond with "We'll have a gathering on insert month and day)". Yoshi-p told the devs to make it a simple as possible and even told them to exclude a chat function so the leader of the circle doesn't have to go through the hassle of responding to all the chat. (In Japan, the term circle is used similarly to how English-speakers use "club", like "College sports club")

Will Lamimi's lust for Arbercht (or whatever his name is) factor into her quests? Will learning about her ardor make me a better Healer?

Are we supposed to know about these people more than what little we saw from them in the HW patch content? Because I vaguely remember the names, but nothing else.

I remember the BLM being mute, the BRD talking about how much she enjoyed almost killing Alisaie, and everyone else was just kinda there aside from the WAR.

The BLM isn't mute, he's just very stoic. IIRC he does talk in the last scene before they leave.

But that isn't mute. Honestly, i felt the BLM had the most imposing presence out of all the Warriors of Darkness, he had that cool to him that came with being a BLM, and his actions spoke louder than his words, like giving psychotic BRD a flaming arrow.

Traffic is supposedly going to be dealt with thanks to some fixes they made, so I may jump right into the MSQ after testing the waters with whatever the first Raubahn EX has the potential to be.

I only have about five days to enjoy it though because I'm going to a convention the day early access ends, so I'll probably spend my downtime in the hotel room leveling either of the new jobs.

Dark Knight, probably. Might finish leveling machinist through POTD and HOH if traffic's too bad.
