Final Fantasy XIV

I liked the ending of the Ivalice Raid where Ramza and Co. shield you from Ultima. That was neat.

But given I didn't know what Tactics was about until after the Raids came out, I was totally lost aside from the XII stuff, Agrias, and T.G. Cid.

Yeah, I had never played tactics, so any nostalgia and blatant fanservice was lost on me, all I saw were cool boss fights (mostly in Orbonne, I didn't care for the other two). However, having a Tactics-crazy friend explain all the various contexts to me drew a lot of interest in tactics, I'm probably going to completely legally obtain a copy of Tactics to play now.

Wait, Alexander is meant to be a reference to IX? I thought it was just, y'know, Alexander. Giant castle summon that uses light to attack.

Just when he sprouts his wings, since as far as I know that's something only IX's Alexander did. I don't really mind that kind of stuff since it's quiet enough that the only people that would recognize it as pandering are the ones that'd enjoy it.

That seems like it's reaching a bit to me

A lot of his XIV design is inspired by IX but that is about it.

Thats about as referencey as Ifrit's design being inspired by X, aka not much.

Cruise Chaser is also a IX reference, being the ultimate summon from that game. The lapis lazuli mechanic is also a nod to how collecting those jewels powered up the summon further.

Was running Sigmascape 4's to upgrade my DRK's sword on my DRK when I was grouped with a WAR that outgeared me by a mile... but he refused to tank, saying he never did.

I know you can get by as an off tank in a stupid amount of encounters and never actually do your job but... is that common, despite that?

not really common, but dont be surprised if more WARs do that in the future

Some like to joke that every job is just a DPS of a different color. Some will go "hold my beer".

Especially wars, who can actually match up with some DPS classes at maximum efficiency.

Though that guy was being a dick, Hashil.

As a secondary war, I'm perfectly fine being the MT if the other tank doesnt feel comfortable with it

It looks like the block on the timer slipping on Aether and Primal have resumed, so the housing market on the high pop servers should start rolling again. They also very casually hinted through that that 4.5 part 2 will be around the 1st or 2nd of April, with a third patch sometime at the end of the month that might have the world visit system.

March 26 is 4.56. April 1-2 is EU Datacenter expansion.

Hrothgar and Dancer are getting announced really soon more likely than not.
