Final Fantasy XIV

Given how XIV is built, yeah, part of the downsides of having armor models that actually go over the model instead of replacing the body textures like more older or stylized MMOs is that putting a playable race in is gonna be way more work, even before you get into individual factors like body language, emotes, customization, ect.

I think maybe they could still surprise us and be like "Surprise, we figured this out... but don't ask for any more", but at this point that seems to be a very low-chance thing.

I would be happy enough if we could play as a beastman via RP battles. And as much as I love Bangaas, they would never get in because they would be as popular as Roegadyns while Viera are instant Sex Sells.

Ronso are probably pretty viable all things considered because despite their fuzz and cat face they are pretty much entirely human in shape.

That said I don't think the leak said that Ronso where a thing so much as they had bunny and a lion on their avatar and said the next playable race was related to their icon?

They said there'd be not 1 but 2 new races, then used their icons to drop the hints as to their identities, that's where ronso came from.

And adding a Lion-themed Little Bit Beastly race would be a bit redundant, because that's more or less what Seeker of Sun Miqo'te are.

Also Metaflare I think you're having a bit too much fun with this. Obviously the best flashback would be being a novice Garlean conscript putting down a rebellion when your hero saves you from angry Savages.

So I found out a mutated mob in Pyros can cast Holy against you◊.

So, I just finished the level 70 Machinist quest and am left with some questions.

The Big Bad drinks dragon blood, changes into a diresaur, but then changes back when you beat her and is none the worse for wear? I was under the impression that drinking the actual blood as opposed to illusion magic was a complete biological point of no return, that happening contradicts a lot of what we knew about heretics and transformed Ishgardians, it's bugging the heck out of me since I put so much investment into learning every scrap of lore possible about XIV's dragons, and they try really hard to be consistent so I don't think it's a continuity error.

Hmm, are there any live letters or general events that they could talk a bit more about 4.5 between now and when we could expect it to launch?

I still feel like I need to hear more about the Masked Carnival before I know if Blue Mage is gonna be a complete write-off besides a gimmicky thing to do when I want to play with an alt-job. And also because I need to know what the lore is gonna be before I make motions to have my RP character re-class to one, it has a very phantom-thief aesthetic to it, but where it's from and why it exists could be nearly anything.

I am predicting that the carnival will be a battle arena ala Final Fantasy VII Gold Saucer style where your prizes are gear for BLU and tomestones of Poetics.

Got my Lore book 2 today and oooooooomg it has a lot of interesting stuff.

Share some of that meat with the poor people for anything that jumps out at you super hard.

...or anything about the dragons.

I won't have off from work till Friday, but I can tell you this in regards to Ramza and Alma in the Ivalice raid storyline; they are not pure Garlean. They are half that half Hyur since their mom was a Hyur. The book says it's possible that Ramza feels inadequate due to his lack of a third eye. The book also points out that Bangaa, Seeq, and Viera DO exist with 20% of Rabernastre's population being Bangaa, 10% Seeq, 5% Viera, 40% Dalmascan Hyur, and 25% being "other". So Viera are pretty much confirmed outright.

Once I get the day off, I'll try to share some info from the book.
