The characters have all evolved a fair amount over the course of the comic without their personalities being radically altered. I think the same will happen with Lil' Evil—he'll come to terms with who he is and continue his Poke the Poodle ways, but it'll shake him up enough that he'll do it for different reasons than we might expect.

The end of this arc will be Lil' evil getting his memories back, and proceeding to be a jerk to someone, before giving him a pet the dog moment to show he remembers a little.

I notice that unlike "red pill or blue pill" it's just, "Take the red pill." Is it intentional or am I just reading too much into some necessary paraphrasing?

I have a feeling at least one feminist blog is going to link this comic.

Though will it be positive? The comic is being a little OTT about it, but then again, it's like that with everything and it's all in fun mostly. In fact I can't think of any instance where something is treated seriously. Not to say that it doesn't have serious messages (usually the enviromental ones) but the humour never leaves and both the good and the bad are open to being the subject of a joke.

It just occurred to me that, besides the old cast page, this is the first time Lil' E has been referred to by name.

Which explains his confusion here. I wonder what he thinks his name is.

Mind. Blown.

What really surprises me is that he didn't make L'il E's mother into a devil. What might his motivation have been for leaving her human?

Well, that certainly makes Lil' Evil's borderline homoerotic obsession with the Devil a lot more disturbing.

If she'd been devil then he'd have been full devil, not half.

Also, isn't the Anti-Christ supposed to be half-human? That's the way it worked in Lucy The Daughter Of The Devil and Squee...

I get the feeling he was slightly looking forward to being a dad, then remembered that he's the devil. He can't get caught up in emotions and have a loving family. That's just my take on the scene, though.

I think it makes his obsession with the devil less disturbing: he just wanted to be with his dad. I really hope that they don't make Lil'e back into a 1 dimensional antagonist.

Good point; I was thinking pretty much the same thing. What I'm wondering is how long this "Lily" moniker's gonna hang around.

Erm, disturbing just got cranked back up a bit. He didn't mind spending an eternity in homoerotic embrace with the devil, i.e. his probable-but-yet-to-be-confirmed dad.

Remember the days when this whole Patriarchy idea would have been played for, y'know, comedy?

Wasn't it the Matriarchy back then?

The matriarchy was from back when the comic was still doing elseworlds/imaginary stories—think Calvin And Hobbes with more racy subject matter—and was depicted as an oppressive dictatorship that had banned stereotypically manly things.

The patriarchy is pretty clearly "real", whatever the hell that means in a 'verse with a Reality Zone, and is a Matrix-like force that prevents people from seeing the world is sexist against women.

Make of that what you will.

Anyone else think the comic has been going in an odd direction lately? Especially considering the earlier comics?
