Monique bravely struggles with the idea she's not immortal and the world doesn't revolve around her!

Audience falls asleep after the first thirty seconds of her two year redemption arc!

This is more about trying to make Monique a person again than the subject material. Unfortunately the author has so little personality left to start with when it comes to Monique

I recommend sticking two electrodes through Monique's neck, dumping her on a marble slab and waiting for a thunderstorm in Victor Von Frankenstein's lab

Not stealing the brain from a village idiot would also help

It'll take more than a dozen lightning strikes to resurrect this stilted wet cardboard shill of a non player character though

Tats is probably using 2020's death to try to boot Monique's character out of stasis.

Frankly he should have just manned up and got Absinthe to tell Monique to fuck right off, one way or another

If he wants to make Monique a decent character again, she needs an in story boot up the arse. Trying to slow evolve her out is going to take months if he's lucky

Not gonna happen, I think. Tats believes she's fine the way she is. He's just surprised that readers aren't in love with her, so he's going to portray her as caring and empathetic and morally superior to bash people on the head with her wondefulness.

I don't think Tats would ever do it, but the one thing that might kick Monique out of her rut of smug complacency would be to push her "bad influence" over Absinthe a little too far in such a way that would get Abby sent back to the Hell Hole ... or better yet, killed.

Hmm. Except for one panel of Absinthe pole-dancing back at the Hell Hole, she's consistently been portrayed as a naive Goody Two-Shoes. What if Satan gets fed up with Abby and BOMFs her into being a competent evil demon?

(There's a massive disconnect between the depiction of Absinthe as a person and her actual job. Objectively speaking, solely with regards to her job, she's an evil callous monster)

She doesn't need to die or end up stripping in the Hellhole for Monique to start growing into a person again.

All Absinthe needs to do is snap the next time Monique treats her as a doormat and give Monique a good, hard, and very well deserved bitch slap.

It doesn't even need to be physical.

Monique growing because 2020 died in her arms is the copout option - she's a smug, complacent fool who doesn't do empathy or real concern for people who aren't Monique

P.S. At the moment, Monique is an NPC. In a competition between her and Lily as to who's most irrelevant in their own lives, it'd be a photofinish

I'm trying to remember ... Other than for ongoing customers like Sam, have we ever seen Abby actually complete a sale at the booth? She's even tried to give freebies!

Yup, I've thought her entire characterization (prior to becoming Monique's petgirl) has been about how much she sucks at being a demon. She has to think of childishly rude things just to get through the Evil Detector, while she is also too child-like to get a hang of intentional seduction. She's been presented as too nice and vapid for her job, while her performance at the "Everything You Want"-stand has been shown to be quite lackluster. Has she even had any other customers than Slick and Sam? I have a vague memory of her pitying Slick, offering him the freebie.

Little Miss 2021 will be raised by Tex and Dixie, right? Are they Good Rednecks, or Bad Rednecks? Tats won't tell us until he decides whether this year will be better or worse than 2020. If 2021 is an improvement, then Tex and Dixie will turn out to be Good Rednecks, or else the girl will run away to freedom. (Is that why Ms. Liberty is in the story again?) If 2021 is even worse than 2020, then the girl will be raised by Bad Rednecks, or else Satan will find her and he'll raise her and try to get her to marry Brainwashed Sam.

If these events are taken from Real Life, then this must be Percy II, or even Percy III or IV. Original Percy wouldn't have this much energy at age 20+.

I wonder if the landing of NASA's Mars rover ("Perseverance" AKA "Percy") reminded Tats that he hadn't done a Pooch & Percy strip in a long time?

I still think it's odd that for all the citywide (nationwide? worldwide?) adulation that we are told It-Girl Monique receives, she seems to have exactly two friends — Abby and Miko. Even the various Heroic Women don't hang out with her.
