Sinfest has become a sixties exploitation movie on the dangers of promiscuity: full of lust and voyeurism and suggestive imagery, covered in a thin layer of moral indignation.
I'd like to disagree here, but I can't find any good or even any bad reason to
At this stage in it's rotting decay can we even call Sinfest a feminist webcomic with any kind of straight face?
The closest it gets is screaming swerfist and terfist abuse every so often because Tats is obsessed with potraying women in a sexual and/or submissive manner
Equality of rights? Education? The glass ceiling? Toxic bullying? Female unfriendly work patterns? Anyone with half a brain and access to a decent news portal could go on and on
Tats doesn't because, as far as I can tell, he can only get his jollies from thinking of women as being disempowered and oppressed

Skynet Is Inevitable. Skynet IS...Undergoing Repairs Atm.Please re-insert plug and rebootOh, sure, there is all that radical nonsense going on, too, but at it's core, it is still a webcomic about prostitutes and sexy girls.
Consider that Tats could just simply have stopped drawing exploitative drawings of scantily clad women, but didn't. The author doth protest too much, and it's rather revealing of what he really thinks of women deep down: as lust objects.
Optimism is a duty.Hmmm, I wonder if she likes her job...🤔
Hell, if I had the physique for it, I would. Kinda hard to be concerned about exploitation when you make the peanuts I do at my job.
You want to be a male stripper?
Optimism is a duty. Not so much want, but I've seen the money they can make. Compared to what I earn now, it'd be a step up.
Well, I'd say go for it then. Given the ratio of male to female sex workers, I'd say you're already in a good bargaining position.

Have you seen the physique standards for a male stripper? If not, I suggest you google "chippendale" and enjoys. For most people that particular career conversion is not an option; size of competition is meaningless if nobody's buying.

Alright I can't say anything about it since theres nothing to say. Lets see the Sunday color comics considering its filler
A Slick fan... and this one is ALSO a near-identical rehash of a previous strip.
I guess this time they take almost all of Sapphire's money instead of a big chunk of it, which is technically a difference.

Never a zombified handmaiden around when you need one.
This feels like Tats is desperately grabbing at straws to save his Patreon numbers, but he's completely missed the point of WHY his numbers are dropping.
"I was making $1500 on August 1, 2018 maybe if I do the same comic from a different angle, then people will like me and start giving me money again!"
Agreed. I saw that drop too. Went to 363 and $1149. If he was he was in combat he would be trying to stop the bleeding by stabbing the blood back into himself.
I just came to talk about how horrible Sinfest is.Out of all things he can rehash why choose Sapphire and her job hate? Maybe try going back to someone else without rehashing filler
A Slick fanMostly because he can't do any of the comics he wants to do without reusing previous stories and plots. His resistance to having his pets actually struggle or enact meaningful change have left him spinning his wheels basically.
Redmess: What Jaff said basically. I do NOT have the build that would make me enticing to that field of work.

Yeah, he wants a dramatic story, but he can't make a believable and satisfying pay off. He basically just treats these story arcs as just long gags.
The theme of this comic is almost identical to the reaction I had to my first paycheck ... and to the amount withheld for Social Security, medical, tax, et cetera.
Previously the Pimp and Legion took Sapphire's money. Now it's something inhuman and impersonal. Those terms also describe the government.
Out of all things he can rehash why choose Sapphire and her job hate?
I suspect that Legion is going to give Sapphire another opportunity to make more money, and this time she'll accept. In fact, I suspect that Tats was going to go there the last time he drew similar strips, but for some reason he decided to delay the resolution of that plot arc: Sapphire hates leering audience/Sapphire loses money/Sapphire gets offer to become a hooker/Sapphire becomes a hooker and hates it and her customers even more than when she was a pole dancer.
Well, I have to say it's been a while since a Sinfest comic had a clear, actual and valid point: some sex workers are kept under finnancial captivity using bogus debts. Yeah, that's true. You get a pass for this, Tats.
The small difference here is under the new management Sapphire suddenly has even less to live on
The big difference is suddenly she's in debt to her employers, which has never ever been mentioned before
Three possible directions I can see: - More narrative stasis where Sapphire stays afloat (just) financially; she quits for a different job or she ends up pressurised into turning tricks
It's just kind of hard to care about right now and I put that down to the combination of rehash and asspull in this strip. Plus Sinfest sucks as a world and a webcomic right now
Darkness-Induced Audience Apathy with constant Ass Pull for dinner anyone?
P.S. Legion now works at the mansion as security. It's new pimp dude who manages the Hellhole now so he'll be the one making the job "offer"

Skynet Is Inevitable. Skynet IS...Undergoing Repairs Atm.Please re-insert plug and rebootThe sudden mention of debt is a complete Ass Pull. Also: Didn't we already have a nameless Sad Prostitute Girl who had the exact same storyline?
Never mind the logic that if the house takes such a large cut from a stripper that they would go to another place to strip. Not in Sinfest! There is exactly one strip club where every single man (this being Sinfest meaning that they are all undead rapists) in the world goes to and still the strippers manage to earn so little money they have nothing left at the end of the night despite constantly dancing for huge audiences.
Tats is just re-emphasizing the radical feminist point that no woman would choose a sex work profession willingly and they're always exploited, abused and too much a victim of the patriarchy to do something else. It doesn't matter if it's a pole dancer, a porn actress or a prostitute.
Repeat after me: Tats is a blatant SWERF.
It's hard to fight that mindset, because of how Tats is treating his world. "The Patriarchy" is a metaphor in our world, a convenient shorthand for The Way Things are. In Festerville, it's a metaphor for a metaphor — there is a literal Patriarchy, run by identifiable people as an actual organization, and it's an Always Evil strawman. How do you refute a strawman?

"Backpacks"? Is that a thing in the real world somehow?
http://www.mansionofe.comHmmm,
Now that I think about it....
Hexapodia said: - Sapphire hates leering audience/Sapphire loses money/Sapphire gets offer to become a hooker/Sapphire becomes a hooker and hates it and her customers even more than when she was a pole dancer
Try replacing Sapphire with 'Tats'; Hooker with 'Decent Storyteller' and Pole Dancer with '4th Rate Wannabe Demagogue'
No wonder Tats is diving headfirst into this lake of raw sewage again. It truly speaks to him on a personal level

Tats is making that one writing error over and over again this last decade: he obviously loves drawing sexy girls doing soft core porn things like pole dancing and posing behind glass windows, but has decided to put a fig leaf over all this by insisting that this sort of behaviour is gross and immoral.
Sinfest has become a sixties exploitation movie on the dangers of promiscuity: full of lust and voyeurism and suggestive imagery, covered in a thin layer of moral indignation.
He used to be honest about loving this stuff. And underneath all the protesting, this is still the same smutty comic it was 20 years ago. All that's really changed is the overbearing radfem moral indignation.
Optimism is a duty.
