Sinfest

I feel like the point of this strip is just to say "remember when Sinfest was occasionally funny"?

He's somehow also managed to ruin the Calligraphy strips by simply drawing a random design to be whatever character he wants it to be rather than coming up with something organically. I'm sure we're not far away from having Pooch and Percival hate on animals who want to be other animals or something.

My problem with it is that he doesn't make a joke. He barely sets one up and has a character drive off the screen.

Why not just a comic with "Pomotron needs big words" and have him meet with a character that at least tries to fulfil the need like any other comic he did with this premise? Have Xanthe plug him into the Patriarchy matrix for all I care, at least a character would do something!

It's hard to even count this comic as mockery since he doesn't do anything with it. It's just Tats drawing things he doesn't like.

We get it Tats. You dislike a lot of things. Move on!

Cancelled? What is this, TV? Self-published comics authors don't "get cancelled".

Also, I do still think the previous pomotron comic was a well-structured joke, if divorced from the surrounding context. The joke is that Pomotron needs [insert long-winded multi-sign-spanning thing here that ain't nobody got time to stand around and read all of] so nobody stands around to read all of it, they just drive off before he can finish with the signs.

Tangentially this old one of the same format, while it does make me chuckle like the cheap but 'problematic' humor of old Sinfest always did, still makes me think, in juxtaposition to the surrounding seriousness of the comic by that time, 'so progressive. much woke. wow.'

But I guess 'woke' and 'progressive' are the enemy now, because women are the only category of marginalized people whose oppression is a matter of deadly seriousness about which there can be no joking. Gay men have it super easy are a the legit butt of jokes... I say, after just finishing watching a show about the LGBT community in the late 80s/early 90s wherein half the characters are dying of AIDS.

(Tats, if you're reading this, I honestly do like that old comic I just linked. It's a cheap 'har har your anus' joke, sure, but it's a quick chuckle and that's all I really used to come here for. That joke doesn't belittle the plight of gay people; I'm half gay myself, on my father's side, and I still like it. The moral of this tangent here is that you can also make jokes at the expense of your female characters, to the betterment of your comic, without thereby belittling the hardships women endure; just like you always used to make jokes at the expense of Seymour, without thereby attacking all Christians; and you always used to make light-hearted fun of everybody, without really seeming like you were attacking anybody, and often delivering heartfelt little morals along the way too. I miss that).

The "cancelled" thing might be a callback to when his site got hacked and was rendered inoperable for about a week or so.

I'm sure he gets threats. That's wrong. Tomatoes, boos, and taunting are all good but never threats.

Comedians go out on the road and try routines to see how they stick. They hammer out the fine details and watch to see what works best. He's a comedian who's angry that the crowd doesn't like his work. Instead of finding that "soft touch" he used to yammer about, he's just trying to shove it down the audiences' throat. He essentially pulled the equivalent of a Michael Richards on the crowd. TWICE.

It's probably because he doesn't want to be just a comedian. He probably wants to be an influencer. Sorry, buddy. Not with a four panel, poor quality comic strip that is solely dedicated to one issue.

By the way, we aren't concerned Tats. Most of us were well aware of the fact you weren't going to change your mind, we've just been watching you progressively go crazier and crazier. You're like a less depressing version of Requiem for a Dream.

That all said, you can't guilt trip people into donating to your Patreon Tatty. You aren't Anita Sarkeesian.

I highly doubt he gets threats. Besides us and like the 3 people at the other forum I don't think anyone actually reads this comic anymore.

Heck, he probably draws the johnbies as a form of outreach to his few remaining readers. "I'll make you a character in my comic if you keep reading!". There's probably one Johnbie for each of us. I wonder which one I am.

So, I think I found pretty solid evidence that Tats is ZAIIB or at the very least is an active contributor to EVEN the comic and its direction. This gives credence to either theory that Tats is doing this against his will, or he is totally willing and is using ZAIIB to play a woman to garner support from rad fems (This breakthrough was an awesome contribution from my wife).

How did she know that Tat based that person off that photo? Now, you may be thinking "Well, that might be current news." It's not. My wife told me about this cool little website called "tineye" where you can look up the image and its places of origin. Just get the url for the image and PRESTO!

Here's the link for what I pulled up; stories from a year ago (the only one that wasn't a year old was as recent as January). So, ZAIIB just happened to remember the exact face that Tat was paroding from over a year ago? What are the chances of that? And furthermore, what are the chances that she would make that connection within 3 hours? Unless of course they are the SAME PERSON! (dun, dun, duuuuuuuuun)

I really, REALLY believe this is Tat's just trying to clarify who his target in the comic is, because a lot of people on his forum are getting pissed off. Of course a man can't explain himself to a bunch of XY hating feminists; you know who can? A woman. Or at least a made up, virtual woman.

People negatively talking about Sinfest on a Tropes forum, people disagreeing with his brand of feminism on his own forum and driving former Patreon supporters away with TERF comics apparently is the equivalent of woman-punching zombies (!) showing up to your house with axes in hand and personally threatening you.

Tats's straw manning is getting so bad it loops in on itself and becomes hilarious!

Tats baby, if you ever read this: you're not as good as you think you are. You're spreading an outdated message of hatred through a comic that used to be loved for other things and people are reacting appropriately, namely by laughing at your radfem antics and voting with their wallets.

How much longer can Tats keep this up? His house of cards is starting to fall apart.

At some point, someone will HAVE to step in, get him out of his comic-making room, and give the guy an intervention because this self-destruction is looking more and more fiery by the day.

Seriously, him going TERF only makes the whole situation worse for him. Before he could at least try and court the big honking SJW monetary circle jerk on Patreon to get some cash kicked his way for a bit, but now those guys wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole.

He's cut off his feet, and is currently spitting on receiving any medical aid.

I, on the other hand, have been enjoying watching him burn.

A little earlier this morning, I couldn't get sinfest.net to respond, and for a moment I was wondering whether someone thought the comic made a good suggestion (someone DDOS'd the site or something)... or Tats just shut the site down himself temporarily to make it look like his comic was prophetic.

I've thought for a long time that ZAIIB is either Tat or the person writing the comic on his behalf. They clearly have some connection to the comic.

Just a small note: it's Z 6 IIAB, not ZAIIB.

I'm traveling, so I haven't been following this stuff very closely, but several observations:

• On the Discord forum, several people have claimed they've reported Sinfest to Patreon for "hate speech" in an effort to kill his source of income from the comic. Tats may be reacting to that. I personally have strong reservations about their efforts.

• I'm fairly sure that Z6IIAB is a different person, of the female persuasion, who is in contact with Tats and exchanges ideas with him. She doesn't need to BE him to know ABOUT him.

• Quite a bit of information about Tats is available on the Web if you know where to look ... and no, I'm not going to tell you because I don't want anyone to doxx him. Also, I'm pretty sure I know who one of the characters in the strip is based on, and that information should NOT be made public.

As I said, the information is findable. But my comment was intended as an admonition that if it IS found by someone, it should NOT be made public, for several very good reasons.

What I said about "Celina" is based on her doing a rather poor job of defending and explaining Sinfest, not on sleuthing. Also, her comments on individual strips tend to be adulatory platitudes rather than insightful or useful information.

No one should get doxed, or swatted, or harrassed in general, over a webcomic, no matter how controversial. And given the reactionary nature of some parts of the internet, we should be careful about not providing identifying information in this thread.

Also, this is really beginning to cross the line on not importing drama.
